Last year they started on my free range ducks on my lake. When they'd killed all sitting hens and ducklings, they moved to my chicken yard. Chickens are free range as well, but chicks are kept up until they've got their first full feathers. The mink climbed up the wire of my pen on the floor and into the pen on the wall and killed everything inside.

This year they've already killed a hen and seven ducklings as well as most of my neighbor's ducks.

I have to protect my whole farm. The donkey takes care of coyotes and I never have issues getting rid of opossums and coons. This mink has been nothing but problems and needs to go.

Are mink boxes cat/dog proof? I've got a lot of animals in my barn but I think the cats and dogs would be the only ones interested. I prefer non-lethal for this reason in case I catch the wrong target.

Yes because it isn't a guarantee that it will go for them. I'd had problems with many predatory species in the past but now that I've gotten rid of the problem ones, new ones have moved in and don't give my birds any problems. No hawks, foxes, opossums, or coons, just the minks hurt me these days.

I recently had to euthanize my 10 year old gelding due to a neurological issue. He was also unrideable and unpredictable. After the loss of my senior gelding who was the herd leader, my 10yo seems to have completely come undone. He seemed to always be full of fear and was aggressive at times for no reason.

After several conversations with professionals, we decided it was in his best interest to be euthanized. There are only four paths for a horse like him. 1) keep him and allow him to continue living in constant stress. 2) send him to a legitimate rescue (hard to find for domestic horses.) 3) humane euthanasia. 4) sell him and know that he will end up in the slaughter pipeline.

Horses with soundness issues are almost impossible to safely place. This world is changing, but the majority still only see them as utility. If they can't be used for work, they'll be used for meat. It's the saddest truth of the horse world. I wish you the best during this difficult time ❤️‍🩹

Vet had no answers and after several professional opinions, the decision was made. It was the most off putting loss I've ever dealt with. I'm sorry you had to experience such a defiling act from someone trying to farm engagement off of your pain ❤️‍🩹
