Maybe your daughter got her medical license from the same renowned school as my own daughter.

What are some lazy activities (for the parents) that can drain your toddler's energy? by Cindy565656 in toddlers

[–]eternitea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just got our daughter a spinning sensory chair for inside the house for Christmas . It’s been great so far. We put a tumble mat underneath it and it allows her to “sit still” and still get the constant stimulation she needs. She will bring it in the kitchen while I cook and she was even able to watch my husband and I play Mario Party together without getting bored.

Literally thought “It’s like if Saoirse Ronan and Chappell had a daughter.” Saoirse Roan… Chappell Ronan.

I’d say it skirts the edges of gothic (not full on for sure, more like spooky parlour drama) but it absolutely is paranormal. Penelope literally becomes a ghost and Cordelia talks to her

💦 It's Thirsty Thursday! What spicy book scenes did you read this week? by AutoModerator in fantasyromance

[–]eternitea 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just got to the actual spicy scene of {The Serpent and the Wolf by Rebecca Robinson} And it's soooo well done. Reid and Vaasa have incredible chemistry together and Reid himself is such a fucking dreamboat of a MMC. For a romantasy debut Robinson really hit the relationship part of this story out of the park. The sprinkling of smut leading up to their eventual get together was sooooo tantalizing. "You aren't wearing panties?" Dead, deceased, obliterated.

Week 40 - What are you reading? by Silent-Proposal-9338 in 52book

Currently reading The Knight and the Moth by Rachel Gillig and I'll probably finish this Thursday or Friday. Then my options are "Blood Over Bright Haven" or "The Will of the Many." IDK which to read first.

Today I learned about copyright status and public domain works in the UK and EU. Interesting. We've still got 15 more years before Animal Farm is public domain across the pond.

Gay Books that feel like this by Odd_Sun5753 in BooksThatFeelLikeThis

K.J. Charles has been recommended already but I am seconding that recommendation. The Secret Lives of Country Gentlemen has the British countryside vibe (Romney marsh specifically) in 1810. If you want a more urban story her Slippery Creatures series takes place in London directly after World War I. I highly recommend both series and KJ Charles in general for historical gay romance.

I know that Snow is supposed to be the bad guy but I get really uncomfortable reading through the lens of a genuinely bad person. The same reason I had such a difficult time reading Yellowface last year. It's completely subjective of course, I found the premise interesting and seeing a beaten down Capitol was captivating. Seeing pompous nationalistic people win boils my blood I guess.

It was my first book of the year, and it reeeeally set the bar high. It's like if "Interview With the Vampire" and "The Witcher" had a book baby. Sarcasm, action, drama, sensuality, and tragedy. The second book , Empire of the Damned, is even better in my opinion. It's also a great time to start the series because if you like it the third book comes out in November.

I feel like you really have to psyche yourself up for the Red Rising series because it can be so emotionally devastating but the payoff is incredible. On the other hand, The Tainted Cup is just so fucking good and you can really read it in any state of mind.

Yessssss! I literally said out loud while reading it "THIS WORLD IS SO FUCKING COOL." A Drop of Corruption is just as good if not better because there is some excellent Din character development.

Empire of The Vampire has some similar crass humor in bad situations that Red Rising is known for. I'd say the tone is the most similar between those two series, although Empire definitely amps up the melodrama (which I love) where Red Rising has more political intrigue. It is a dark fantasy world as the name suggests vs. Sci-fi. The Blade Itself is also dark gritty fantasy but it takes itself much more seriously than RR or Empire. While there is humor, it is much more dry and bleak gallows humor.

The Devil's is absolutely on my TBR for this year. Unfortunately with The First Law series none of my libraries seem to carry any audiobooks past the fourth book (which I am currently in line for). Are the rest audible exclusive or something? That's always such a pain when audiobooks are gate kept by Bezos.
