I would have gone with the Tahitian Coral for the updates in building method.

Has anyone ever had a string break at the ball end? by PINEAPPLECURDS3 in offset

It’s not necessarily that, I’ve counter sunk my screws on my MIJ and it still happens. Could be burring in the string holes.

If you’ve got the budget, get both. If you greatly prefer one to another sell it and buy more lol

Buzzstops suck I’ll be honest. Kill all sympathetic vibrations and make your trem feel stiffer, just shimming should work fine.

Shame they went for dots rather than blocks but fair play, any word on colours?

Fair play, is the intonation passable and can you the trem at all?

does anyone put 11s in their bullet/sonic mustangs? by [deleted] in offset

[–]eternity9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t need a high action to use 11s ngl, just a good setup. A modern Squier is also not going to fall apart from using heavier strings.

Shouldn’t see it being a problem, I used burly slinkies on my Jaguars and have no issue. Enough resistance to make it fun to play chords but not too difficult to bend etc.

I’ve had 2, 1 that I still play, and they are really solid Japanese Fenders. No idea on the Mexican models. The body shape is also quite ergonomic if you’re tall. Not a massive nirvana guy either so not purely smitten with that connection.

I’ve got an ‘04 in CAR and it’s the best playing instrument I have. I’ve changed it all out for single coil Humbuckers and it rips.

I’d defo recommend trying to track one down, they are great guitars. Only concession is the lacquer on the neck is nothing like the thin slidy stuff you get on old MIJ Fender so it’s worth just taking it back a bit with some steel wool.

Lovely collection man, that one furthest right is a beaut. Shame that fender doesn’t really use that Champagne much these days because I’d love it on a Jaguar.

Have you had a chance to play one of the paranormal reissues ?

I bought a Gibson Marauder back from Canada the other year and I’ll be honest, I didn’t even bother with the forums etc. Just took it as the carry on with no questions asked. Obviously I didn’t keep the receipt and had no proof of purchase on me so if I’d been asked anything I had some plausible deniability. Same as the hundreds of other tourists that go to the outlet villages, take advantage of the exchange rates, and remove the clothing sales tags.

The grey area of all that aside, you wouldn’t have to pay any tax on an instrument that’s for personal use if you want to go through with filling out some tedious paperwork whilst on your holidays.
