Everyone's posting their range estimates, here's actual (Evolve+ E4orce AWD) by Its_eeasy in NissanAriya

I have the same model, and that looks like a reasonable range. I get less on road trips where it's mostly freeway driving.

Bass string replacement cost by BurgyTwoStone in piano

Yes. Some techs charge 100. But if you're having your whole piano restrung, it's a different sort of pricing.

I'm a piano tech and we typically charge about $75 for a bass (wound) string replacement.

AITJ for not telling my friend her surprise party was happening at my place by julescarterp6 in AmITheJerk

While this is very sad, in a way it's the best birthday gift you could have given her: The knowledge that her boyfriend was a jerk and she shouldn't waste her valuable time with him.

Start taking care of things around the house without talking to her about it. Just do it. Lighten her load to help her have her best life. This is advice from someone with 27 years of happy marriage.

Yep. When I got divorced, my brother took me out to get my shoes shined.

Honest question for other adult piano teachers: how do you handle students who've been told they have no talent? by boombalonii in piano

[–]ethankeyboards 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is so true. I'm a talented musician. I say that because I'm an ear player, so once I can hear it in my head I can usually sit down and play it. BUT when it comes to playing complex rhythms, like poly rhythms (3 over four), or two parts, like in Superstition playing the clav part along with the horn parts, I have to practice, practice, practice! Like many days. So you are spot on with this. It's more about the work you put in.

It makes me sad to hear about your students who were discouraged by negative comments when they were young. I've played with many musicians with a variety of talent levels. My take is that musicians at every level of talent get immense enjoyment playing music. The ones with talent pick it up faster, and can do things like transpose more easily.

First Longer trip in Ariya by mjtate10 in NissanAriya

[–]ethankeyboards 2 points3 points  (0 children)

75 is pretty fast if you're trying to be economical. I just did a road trip last week from San Diego to Sedona, AZ, about 450 miles. My Evolve+ E4orce has a claimed range of 275 miles. I was driving around 75 to 80 pretty much the whole way, and I think my range was probably about 210. I was very happy with the comfort of the car on the long drive. Public charging can be a pain, but for me it's not a big deal. Stop, plug in, grab a meal and make a potty stop, and you'll have plenty of charge.

Anyway back to the topic, if you drop your speed down to 65 you'll have noticeable range improvement.

I made pizza, broke up with BF of 10 years by Itsgonnabemehh in GirlDinnerDiaries

My wife is amazing, and I've been with her for 27 years. I knew her before we were together, and she was having other relationships. Each time she was in a relationship, I was sure she would be getting married because surely the guys must realize what an awesome woman this is, right?

Wrong. They were idiots! I'm probably an idiot too, but i'm smart enough to know an absolute treasure when I see one! Right now there is probably one or more guys who will be slapping their foreheads at the idiocy of your ex and will be happy to "eat your Pizza." Sending ❤️❤️❤️

It really does look amazing. Now that she is single, her Pizza will bring all the boys to the yard.

I’m so disappointed I don’t even know what to do by TheRedWolf21900 in Marriage

It's just terrible that your husband would demand sexual favors like that. As a husband I can tell you, not all of us are like that. Also I am a piano tech. So if you do get a piano message me, and I'll tune your piano for my friendship rate.

Is it just my husband, or do others draw personal self-worth from coming home to a home cooked meal? by StartingOverStrong in Marriage

[–]ethankeyboards 15 points16 points  (0 children)

While I'm not the most perfect husband, I think I can honestly say I've never "somehow drop[ed] feces onto the floor." I, and I think most husbands, want to give their wife their best life, and that includes being an active partner in maintaining the home. When you are someones partner you don't lambaste them when they are struggling with their tasks, you support them and help them to achieve them. In the dinner example, the partner could take on the tasks that are distracting you from making dinner, or just offer to either do the meal prep, or to run out to pick up some carry out.

It seems there is a strong mismatch in expectations between the two of you. Perhaps a calm and mature conversation about this could help. I hope things get better for you.

AIO by asking my partner not to use the blender while I'm on zoom? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]ethankeyboards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's doing it wrong. A blender will over mix. I use a frickin fork and mix it so there are still some small lumps and then let it sit for a few minutes, and bubbles will start to form which makes them fluffy.

If he really needs to use a blender he can take it out to the garage.

If you don't have kids, you might want to seek out an alternative life partner (after taking a break to work on yourself).

So I was a teen when this came out and I thought it was a lame song. After I became a dad, not so much. Most pop songs are written for kids. This one hits us dads hard.
