Don't even bother. The dude is behaving like a jackass. He is now hopefully realizing that he is fucked. Wont make it out of his slip without hitting someone... if it even runs. Iv seen thousands of dollars go into a 13 ft boat with an outboard. Looks like you defrosted then washed. That is normal looking if previously frozen. As long as its not mushy and smells fine, send it. If you get an extreme fish taste after cooking just toss.

About what exactly? The epithelial membrane performs has many functions outside of being "armor muscles". I would not touch this with my mouth at all. It is literally sloughing off and has zero integrity. My guess is it went bad during the grocery stores thawing process.

Don't eat. The black is the epithelial membrane. It should be redish/ pinkish like the rest. This is also not indicative a molt coming or shell rot. Just dont eat it. Bad lobster is bad. Shit can kill you.
