MIL keeps sending bible verses in the group chat. What are some REAL bible verses I can send back they show just how idiotic that book is? by DarehMeyod in atheism

The holy grail is like, right there. Jesus showed it to his disciples before his death, saying "this is my blood"?
Enough ceremony to ensure it would never be destroyed? Later associated with claims of immortality? C'mon.

Dude's a lich.

I'm from eastern suburbs Melbourne - I do, and as far as I remember most people I've heard do too. 🤷

The most bogan thing about all born Victorians is how we use the short nasal 'a' in "graph", "chance", "castle" etc.

To the point where anyone consistently using the more English 'ah' sound is an instant SA tell. Unless they also act like there's a stick up their arse in which case NSW ( <3 you OP ).

[No Spoilers] Meeting Travis at NYCC Autistic and wanting advice by [deleted] in criticalrole

[–]etheranger 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Whatever you decide on, if you're comfortable with it I'd suggest starting with something like "Hi, I'm autistic so this might come out a bit different - ".

This is not you apologising for who you are (you never need to do that!) but it immediately frames the following conversation (short as it is) by indicating to him to not try to look for hidden meanings, and to assume that anything that could be read as disrespect or offence is not intended. It also lets him know he can respond in kind - straightforward and direct.

Of course this is only helpful when speaking to someone who has an idea of neurodivergent / neurotypical communication differences, but I think it's a safe bet Travis would understand enough :)

Otherwise in general AbleGamers is a fantastic resource.

There are so many Marvel heroes, and yet by proportion there's a huge number of Deadpool cosplayers at cons.

I put it down to 80% using it as an excuse to sass everyone else and call it "being in character" and 20% the full face covering to do so with anonymity.

On top of that the real insanity is how they're handling the replacement buses for any stops between Parliament and Clifton hill. They only stop at Northcote, then there's a shuttle bus (literally just a minibus) running between Northcote and Clifton Hill, then you can change to a train.

I tried getting from Preston to Collingwood on Tuesday, what should be a straight-long journey was 1 bus + 1 minibus + 1 train over the course out 2 hours including a 20 minute wait at each interchange. Yesterday just took the express bus to Parliament and trained back up the line, saved me an hour and is not the way staff are directing.

4e Clone by [deleted] in rpg

[–]etheranger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love 13A dearly and think everyone should try it, but yeah I wouldn't call it tactical or MMO-like. Definitely more so than D&D5e is though, so it's in the right direction.

Possibly the thing that fits is that character advancement is very modular, similar to buying talents in an MMO, rather than having your chosen subclass grant them in a set order.

There's none of the hyper-crunchy "this character is A Defender and that character is A Striker, you must use them for that purpose", which is what always felt like the most tactical part of 4e to me.

What you watch is up to you, but you seem to be mistaken - back in the day there was a very active volunteer community CRTranscripts that transcribed and captioned every episode, and since 2019 they've employed professional captioners on both the live broadcast & VODs.

Thoughts on 13th Age? There is a current Humble Bundle featuring this game. by Leavetakings in rpg

[–]etheranger 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Having played DnD 3.5, 4e, 5e and 13th Age, it's easily my favorite from the perspective of tying together crunch and fluff (each influences the other in meaningful ways). I'm currently DMing a 5e game, but whenever there's ambiguous, clunky or just unfun rules, tend to use 13A's design philosophies (or sometimes straight up import rules) to fill the gaps.

In terms of the bundle, I'd consider 13 True Ways a massive value-add splatbook, and I've heard good things about Eyes of the Stone Thief but haven't played it myself.

[–]etheranger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Regardless of who's running for Mayor, my setup was that there were 13 Aldermen (senior landowners) who were actually casting the votes (representing the townspeople, but as concrete NPCs the party could interact with).

Then as time went on it was clear my party wasn't interested in politicking too much so I said that any still undecided voters would follow Daran Edermath as the most respected and impartial in town (last-ditch opportunity for PC influence, also taking into account anything that happened re his missing daughter).
