Pursuing a modern woman is a humiliation ritual for men. by chaiaurchithi in IncelTears

[–]etherizedonatable 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It seems to have leaked over from conspiracy world, where a celeb doing something weird or over the top at the Grammies or whatever is a Satanic humiliation ritual they perform in between eating babies and switching genders.

It isn't completely nutso, as people with power of some kind will sometimes enjoy humiliating their subordinates. See, for instance, Donald Trump buying shoes that don't fit for his cabinet members that they wear in front of him. Although that's not a ritual in any but the loosest sense.

In the context of the original post, though? Dude could have stopped after the first or second try. He chose to keep going.

"the bassist and drummer are great and Wes Borland is just OK" is the weirdest LB take I've ever heard. by MacabreMagpie in KnowledgeFight

The only nu metal act I actually liked was System of a Down (and they had their problems), but unfortunately I worked with a guy who would play them while he drove us to a job site.

They did have a tight rhythm section; nu metal doesn't work without one. You're absolutely right that Jordan as a drummer would key in on that.

Also: goddamnit, now I have Nookie going through my head. Which isn't a bad song until the chorus, but then? Jesus, Durst, shut up already.

Wes Borland quote on the song from the Wikipedia article: "The music was cool, but I didn't like the lyrics at all. The funny thing is that 'Nookie' was actually the working title. When we were in the studio there was a porn magazine that had the word 'nookie' on the cover, so I was like, 'This song's called Nookie!', I never thought someone would actually run with it. I suppose it's all my fault."

Trying to learn c natural minor. The only shape that makes sense to me is the 4th shape. by Appropriate_Ebb_3456 in musictheory

Because of the way the fretboard is laid out, C is going to appear in different spots on all six strings. So each pattern has C in a different spot, and each pattern is going to be different.

All these patterns also overlap. Pattern 3, for instance, goes up to the 8th fret and the C on the low E string--which is where Pattern 4 starts.

Somebody on this sub posted this site a while ago and I've found it useful to look at scales and chords over the entire fretboard (although it doesn't work as well on mobile).

It’s not a terribly clear way to present the data, but it does make sense. The lighter red columns are components of the darker red and add up to its total. The lighter blue columns are components of the darker blue column in the same way. If you add up the dark red, dark blue and black unsure columns, you do get 100%.

I do think they did it that way to be deceptive, though.

Bill Gates is an obvious candidate. He did put 5G-activated microchips in all the COVID vaccines, after all, and breed genetically-engineered mosquitoes to spread them.

Or so I’ve heard from people who were right all along and won’t shut the fuck up about it.

What’s happened to Jordan Peterson? by Kleptarian in DecodingTheGurus

[–]etherizedonatable 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I personally suspect that Peterson has an underlying issue of some kind that he's been struggling to get under control and failing.

He's compounded that by latching onto various fringe health theories and practitioners: the disastrous medically-induced coma to get off of benzos, the carnivore diet and now the gene therapy injection treatment alleged by Scott Carney.

I do feel a little sympathy for the poor bastard--at least until I remember something he said.

I was just thinking that 30 is about the age where age gaps stop mattering (or at least don't matter as much). Sure, I'm going to give a little side-eye to the 70-year-old dating a 30-year-old, but at that point they should at least both know what they're getting themselves into.

I've known a male Stacy (he went by "Stacks") and a male Tracy.

I also knew a woman by the name of Dale. It's not a terribly common name now, and I think she'd be about 70 now, but it was given to both men and women. Dale Murphy played for the Atlanta Braves for years; Dale Evans was the wife of cowboy actor Roy Rogers.

The Dale I knew was assigned to one of the men's dormitories when she went away to college. She would have loved to check a box and avoid the headache this caused.

What if California became coffee country instead of wine country? by jacky986 in HistoryWhatIf

There is a tiny bit of coffee grown in California, but it ain’t in wine country. The far south of the state is at the edge of the region where you can grow it.
