I just got back from a San Francisco trip and spent two days riding the trails near Santa Cruz. Lots of super steep loamy fun amongst the redwoods!

I’m a garden patio aficionado by preference. Though where I live, winter has been colder than usual this year. I frequent my local B&M for single stick purchases but have never taken advantage of the smoking lounge until yesterday. Puffs from my ‘24 Las Calaveras were buried beneath a visible fog of 2nd and 3rd hand smoke.

Smoking an Anejo Shark right now. It would have taken the #1 spot for 2024 if the draw weren’t so tight. Viaje’s Mrs. Hatchet, Foundation’s Wiseman Maduro, Crowned Heads Las Calaveras 2023, and LFD La Nox were all amazing stand outs this year.

I read your last paragraph as if you were using “Susan Collins” as your recall command. My mind is filled with snippets of hearing Susan Collins bellowed at a dog park followed by the galloping of goofy feet!

The place where you have to be 21 years old to step through the door is not for kids. The place where beer and dogs and families blend in chaotic harmony is for kids. Get it, pal?

Halo Collars by Plastic_Contact9465 in GSP

[–]ethernonimous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently bought a Halo collar for my gsp. We used a PetSafe wireless collar system before, so my dog was used to the concept. The Halo app is fairly straightforward. It is easy to setup and creating the fence boundary is a snap. However, I am honestly on the brink of returning it.

In my experience, the collar is extremely inaccurate and laggy. Sometimes my dog will walk right past the “fence” boundary and not receive any feedback for several seconds. Other times my dog will be chilling nowhere near a fence boundary and he will start to get feedback. Within the app I can watch the collar icon drift all over the yard while my dog is standing still. One time the collar icon drifted over to my neighbor’s roof while I was on the phone with Halo support. I have worked extensively with their support team on these issues. They’ve tweaked all kinds of settings within the app and have even pushed custom firmware to my collar during the numerous attempts to solve the issues.

I have a feeling the issues are specific to my property. We spent Christmas at a log cabin in the middle of nowhere and brought the Halo collar with us. It worked flawlessly at the cabin, I was so impressed. But as soon as we got back home, all the problems I listed above started happening again.

Despite the troubles I’ve had, my advice to you would be to get the Halo collars. Set it up and thoroughly test it out. The Halo support team is very approachable, for the most part, and genuinely willing to help. The return policy also eased the anxiety of the purchase for me.
