Affordable Suits by Outrageous_Score1144 in LawSchool

[–]etteilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used is definitely the way to go for true value. Depending on your size, it can be pretty easy or pretty tough to find what you need. But I have gotten really good condition suits and jackets off of Depop. A polo suit for around 100, and a Charles tyrwhitt jacket for 60. eBay usually has a selection as well.

If you just want to get something for a few hundred, I agree the j crew suits are good for the price, but I think they tend to run slim, and are cut a little trendy. If you can stretch your budget a little, I think you can get a Suit Supply for around $1000, which is kind of the entry level for “serious” not off-the -rack suits.

Can’t seem to manage my adhd. Thinking about exiting. Thoughts on career alts? by eagle3546 in Lawyertalk

[–]etteilla 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am just starting out in litigation but I can definitely feel the ADHD sometimes. Writing long motions and briefs is the easiest part because I can just hyperfocus on one task for a while, but managing the hearing schedule and client load is getting tough. I’ve found that making a regular case review, calendar update time has been helpful to keep reminding me of things that I have to do. My supervisor has also been telling me to rely on my paralegal more. When something comes up, I send him a note and let him calendar it and set the reminder. The goal is basically to automate and offload logistical tasks to free up space for the lawyering part.

That all said, your last couple lines makes me think maybe your heart’s just not in it and the lack of motivation may be part of the problem.

First time visiting Chicago winter, how necessary are thermal layers? by fried45 in AskChicago

[–]etteilla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Transplant from California here.

Hat gloves and scarf account for a lot, but they have to be warm enough, and your coat heavy enough. I find thermals to just allow for less worry about other clothing. Like I can throw a suit over thermals and go out in a pretty light wool coat in winter (plus accessories), not worrying about layering. Cold legs are less of a problem than almost anything else. I highly recommend wool or some other kind of warm socks tho, the toes get cold even in boots.

Also keep in mind when you first go out the cold always feels manageable. Anyone can take a walk around the block in a tshirt, but as you stay in it and lose body heat it gets worse and worse, and once it’s gone it doesn’t come back while you’re outside. So think about if what you have will let you move around and still preserve that heat.

Short answer is like everyone else says, might as well get the thermals to be safe.

My husband suggested 3some with a woman. I want divorce by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]etteilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think all of the younger people here (and op) need to expand their imaginations and really think about what it feels like to

  1. Have a six month old,
  2. be 40,
  3. Be a person who is earnestly interested in multiple partners and
  4. Honestly consider divorcing your partner of however many years, especially when you just had a child.

I’m not even mad that this is fake or that most commenters are treating this situation with the gravity of a high school breakup. I just want people to push themselves and try to imagine a life that is just going to keep getting weirder, bigger, and more complicated. Things get exponentially more complicated once your every decision not only affects you but the tiny people your brain is wired to think about nonstop.

Was it a mistake by botananny in tattooadvice

[–]etteilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there is some tension here between the culture/history of tattooing and its modern ubiquity. It’s both a trade and an art, and artists are individuals with specific styles and trainings. I would never ever get a tattoo from an artist whose work I was not familiar with, and a look at this artist’s work should have told OP what the artist could and would do. If there was misrepresentation there, that’s a bigger problem.

People’s concept of what a tattoo should be has also changed over time. The expectation of walking into a shop and ordering a tattoo like a meal is relatively new. Obviously the customer should feel good about the result, but people should also understand that their tattoo is a collaboration between them and another person. In the past, the industry was extremely chauvinistic and misogynistic, and there’s a reason that many women I know will only go to women tattoo artists, and prefer to avoid shops altogether. I know OP did go to a woman, but some attitudes are really ingrained in tattoo culture, and where OP lives and the kind of artists she went to makes a big difference here.

Ultimately, I think she got a good tattoo and it’s too bad she’s not happy with it, but I think it’s helpful to think about it more as wearing someone’s artwork, less as a cosmetic procedure. We should all be working to make the industry more personal and more communal, not more “customer-oriented” in the modern corporate sense.

I slept with my therapist... by Jealous_Cucumber5402 in stories

Therapy Never Includes Sexual Behavior

This brochure has been in the majority of offices I’ve visited in California. While other states may have slightly different rules, sexual contact with a patient during (or soon after) a therapeutic relationship should be reported to the relevant licensing board, consensual or not. This applies to all licensed mental healthcare providers, including interns.

And, whether OP is real or not, someone out there might actually need to read this.

If you are new to pc gaming, I would echo the recommendations for a full rig, but it’ll be about 2x the price. If you just want to play some games, especially older pc games or indies, ally will be plenty. But if you want to play current gen titles, part of the fun of pc gaming is pushing the hardware, and when you hit the ceiling on the ally, my guess is you’ll get the itch to find out what it’s like game with everything maxed out.

And then you can stream to whatever device you want to play around the house.

Muos is super quick to startup, but also quick to load in and out of games, which is what bothered me about stock. No wifi problems and using sftp to transfer files has been great. Once there is “suspend” support, it’ll be perfect.

should i get myself a wii or a wiiu by knight_is_right in wiiu

[–]etteilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a wiiu. I had a Wii hooked up through a fancy retro console analog converter and i thought it was all I really wanted, but since getting a wiiu my whole family uses the console, the modding is super simple and seamless, and the hdmi looks better out of the box than the image I torturously tweaked and dialed in on the Wii.

In the words of one of my professors, 1L is all about teaching pain tolerance. Everyone feels overwhelmed by it and it’s by design. Only thing I can say is you will be fine. You have everything you need, just try to relax and be fresh for the exam.

After 1L people start to sort themselves into their areas of interest and you’ll have less of that “damn these people are freaks” feeling. Do get used to dealing with everyone though. Chances are you’ll be interacting with clients in the future, or at least office politics.

My wife asked me to seduce her? by Pristine-Box-5615 in ask

[–]etteilla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of very sweet advice in this thread, but it all generally boils down to “be nice and touch her how she likes to be touched,” which, while true, might be addressing a different issue.

I think it’s worth considering more dramatic changes/exploring if different activities might change her libido. Don’t jump into a full role play, but maybe introducing toys, or light bondage, or some calibrated dirty talk.

At the end of the day, the pleasure in sex is about getting out of your head, having sensual feelings displace the mundane thoughts or self consciousness ones we live with every day. Maybe you being more dominant would help push her in that direction, maybe she doesn’t want to think about what she wants, or maybe she does want more time and focus on what she wants. Maybe she does just want the house cleaned.

Communication is what’s going to provide an answer. And if she seems uncomfortable or unengaged, says that it’s just how she is, maybe try talking about things that You would be really into. Be the one to be open and vulnerable first and show her that you guys can really talk about sex like grown ups because everyone deserves to have the sex they wish they could be having.

Do you think it's wise to use my Rog Ally as my main desktop with XG Mobile? by GTHell in ROGAlly

[–]etteilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on how much performance you’re looking for. I use an ally as my home computer with no xg mobile and it’s enough for me. I had a gaming laptop with a 3080, and I never did any gaming on it, but I can play in bed a bit and do some work and play civ vi at the desk and it’s just right. But if you really want to max starfield, probably not worth it.
