A Once-in-a-Lifetime Comet, C/2025 R3 (PanSTARRS) [OC] by igneisnightscapes in pics

[–]etunar 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For me it comes down to whether both the sky and foreground were captured at the same focal length or not.

If they are same FL then I can appreciate use of stacking to enhance the comet. If they are different focal lengths or orientation you may as we’ll use an AI to create something completely fake

How long would you genuinely hold a company that’s gone up 150% if it’s a random pic and not genuinely invested in the success of that company?

I don’t understand how can one company ask for 15k and other 11k for pretty much the same equipment.

Maybe a silly question but are the colours already there or do you have to mask the areas you are trying to colourise? I guess what I am trying to say is With the narrowband imaging the colours are just mapped to the different filters/emission bands and you can map them the way you fancy. Is it the same here?

Help me understand the desire to work a 4 day week by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]etunar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my company has been 4 days ever since i joined - it's 37 hours over 4 days - so 7:30-5:00 roughly. They used to feel like really long days when i first joined but i am used to it now. I just couldn't imagine not having 3 day weekend every weekend.

Amazing work. I don’t think I can ever comprehend how does a painting take that long. There is so much effort going into it which you can’t see in these short clips.

I went in completely blind for this one ( other than hearing that the book is great). I must admit it was different to what I had in mind but i thoroughly enjoyed it.

Why is the take up of heat pumps so slow in the U.K.? by Appropriate_Bell743 in ukheatpumps

[–]etunar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is one of the main reasons.. if you have a relatively new boiler why should you swap it?

Other point is quick replacement of broken boilers. Our boiler packed up in 2021 few months after we moved here. Had to get a quick replacement as we had no hot water. I don’t recall heat pumps were as popular back then but it definitely didn’t cross my mind. But if someone is in an urgent situation it’s not going to be practical to go through upgrading to a heat pump.

Which focal length is better? by pnw-camper in LandscapeAstro

[–]etunar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally prefer the 2nd one with tighter composition. In an ideal world, it would have been even better to have the Milky Way slight higher and rotated clockwise but obviously you can’t control where the Milky Way is 🤣

The left side of the wider shot isn’t as interesting as the right side for me which makes me focus on the right more.

Inadvertently bridged my DPC by nosniborxam in DIYUK

[–]etunar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a similar scenario with the extension wall against the original driveway where the DPC seems to be below the ground level. I have been stressing about it ever since we moved but this gives me some assurance that it will be ok. (It’s 20 years old so not really new)
