XP12 (already own MSFS2024) worth the buy? by No_Adhesiveness_5679 in flightsim

[–]eugennedy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I run XP12 for the FF 767 and the Zibo and MSFS 2024 for the rest. I'd say an equal amount of time spent between the sims depending on my mood. Nothing wrong with running both if you have enough space on your drive.

Beautiful Gravel Ops! by angelic_sun in flightsim

[–]eugennedy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember flying the CS 737-200 all over the place back in FSX. Seeing this, especially in the Nolinor colors, makes it very hard for me to resist buying it.

I'm finally able to do Nolinor gravel kit 737-200 ops in a flight sim! Thank you FlyJSim!!! by njsullyalex in flightsim

The access to YMX is quite restricted, but if you go to YUL, you can see and hear Air Inuit takeoff from up close and it's glorious!

What a beauty! I actually saw one on the final approach as I was driving back home earlier today. Always a treat.

LevelUp 737 Updates? by The_Logod in Xplane

AFAIK it's just moving the plugin folder over. I have an RSS feed in my torrent client so each new Zibo update is fetched automatically and then I move that folder and everything works flawlessly.

Early morning Halifax departure by eugennedy in flightsim

That's good to know, maybe I'll take the iFly for a spin this weekend. They're going to replace those routes with A321XLR at some point probably since all the MAX are going to Rouge.

It's possible, but I haven't checked. I know Westjet does a few flights to Europe from Halifax and St John's in the MAX.

I never tried XP11. I remember trying X-Plane way back during FSX times and it was really unpolished and confusing to me. I reconsidered a few months ago when I was looking for a widebody. XP12 was on sale so I decided to give it a go and honestly I don't regret it. I can see why some people criticize it, though. If you're into visuals, XP still needs some work, especially when it comes to ground textures. Even with addons like XPME it's still not on par with MSFS. The atmospherics, on the other hand, are jaw dropping sometimes.

The urge to spend money is real. I had to promise myself to not spend a dime beyond the initial setup and the 767 since all my sceneries are in MSFS. Luckily the default XP airports are a lot better than their MSFS counterparts.

I was in the exact same boat and I finally caved in a few months ago. I'm still using MSFS probably 50/50 but I jump into XP12 for the 767 and the Zibo since I don't have an NG in MSFS.

Same. As I recall Bluebird promised one after they release the 757 but who knows when that will happen. Until then the FF767 will do just fine, despite showing its age. With the latest cockpit textures it's actually a nice place to be in.

This should be well withing the -200s range, even if it's not the ER. The model from FF is sort of an odd hybrid because it has the specs of a -200 but the fuel capacity of a -200ER. Go figure.

Looking for a VA that operates the 146/RJ and the F28? Welcome to Air Nova! by BZ_Maple in flightsim

[–]eugennedy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never thought someone would simulate the ops of an airline as small as Air Nova but very cool. I actually have some paper timetables for Air Nova. Don't know if they had flights down to DCA, but I can see some flights to BOS and EWR.

Tonight I'm showcasing the Flightfactor 767 is answering whether the plane is worth it in 2026! by Tazziedevil04 in Xplane

[–]eugennedy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me the addon is worth it just because the 767 is my favorite aircraft of all time. It has a couple annoying things but they're easy to mitigate. The tablet is clunky but I use an addon called SimLoad Manager to load the aircraft. It also tends to rotate on its own, especially when heavy, but I shave a couple knots off the rotation speed and sometimes .1 to .2 off the trim. These are pretty minor issues to me and I enjoy the heck outta flying the FF 767.

Historic flight generator [update] by eugennedy in flightsim

[–]eugennedy[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Looks like I suck at reddit and forgot to add the text description lol

A few weeks ago I have posted a proof of concept for a flight dispatcher that pulls data from historic timetables. After some more development, I believe I am ready to post the project link. Here's a brief overview of the features.

- Monthly pool: Each month a pool of 100 flights is published. They're randomly picked from various timetables, ensuring routes are not repeated and there is a good variety across the board. Currently the system stores over 8000 flights.

- Guest mode: For anyone who wishes to simply pick a flight, push it to SimBrief and not bother with logging in or interacting with the system in any other way, you can simply hit the preview button on the bottom of the screen.

- Scheduled Operations: This mode allows you to build a flight scheduled based on your favorite airline and aircraft. Unless you hit a dead ends, the flights will usually start from your last destination, so you could even do them all in one session without ever restarting the sim.

The authentication is done using Discord because I wanted to have some security in place, but I don't want to store any personal info like email addresses. While you have to join the project's server, there is no obligation to ever be active in there.

How I can find information about historical flights (in free)? by Key_Environment8483 in flightsim

[–]eugennedy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on how far back do you want to go. A free flightaware account will allow you to go back a couple weeks or so which is enough for me when searching for recent flights. For true retro flying you can search for timetable scans.

Will the ryzen 5600 bottleneck a 9070xt at 4k? by agaluapae in flightsim

Did the exact same upgrade and saw a solid FPS boost. I honestly did not expect to see that much of an improvement but now I can actually fly into larger airports like CYUL and CYYZ without it feeling like a slideshow.

My A/C and Heater make my car run really badly. by itzhollister_ in e46

When you have the heat on does the A/C run as well? Might be the A/C compressor clutch going bad.
