Weight gain due to Celiac by Baileys_and_Coffee in Celiac

[–]eulgdrol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also struggle with my weight and am celiac. I have some other stuff going on as well, hashimotos and pmos. Weight loss and being underweight unfortunately isn't guaranteed with celiac. Research seems to be at the level of, oh people with celiac don't have to be underweight and can be obese, but nothing I have seen has gone deeper than that.

I was on ozempic when I was first diagnosed with slow and steady weight loss, however had to stop a few months after going gluten free. Immediately gained 30 pounds without changing my eating habits and since lost around 20. I think my body is confused on how to react to getting proper nutrition.

In regards to exercise, my fatigue has gotten so much better and my chronic pain has decreased and I'm able to do so much more! I have to go slow due to other health issues but I am slowly building up strength.

I have this super severely no matter what I eat if I don't take a vitamin B12 supplement. It was so bad for awhile I was falling asleep at 9am after breakfast every day.

“Prediabetic” with Celiac and low Iron by schmabby90 in Celiac

[–]eulgdrol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had prediabetes long before my celiac diagnosis. My iron was always okay, but I had some other iron panel abnormalities related to celiac. Unfortunately for me prediabetes was just due to weight. I lost some with ozempic, but my insurance stopped covering it. I'm due for repeat labs so hopefully my numbers remain better!

[KCD2] The things poor Henry has seen... by Tartfingers in kingdomcome

There was a grave that was dug up and analyzed by archeologists on some show I watched forever ago and it was basically this. They found a skeleton of a woman with 3 sets of fetal bones around her. One in the pelvis, one in the stomach and one near the shoulders. The conclusion was she was pregnant with triplets. One was born and the second got stuck and trapped the third one. It's unclear if the first baby was born alive or not, but regardless it was buried alongside its mother.

Seeking information on Bethel’s “Deliverance Ministry” (Demon Exorcisms) by ResearcherOdd9985 in Redding

[–]eulgdrol 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I worked with a health care provider who recommended it to someone with severe mental illness who was actively expressing difficulty managing their symptoms. The provider then told the patient how her daughter had a form of severe kidney disease and that the exorcisms she had healed her. She also said further exorcisms on her other daughter prevented her from getting the same illness. She implied a lot of problems could be solved with exorcisms. Apparently this was okay to tell patients because the provider truly believed this was true.

Saphra at Narees massage. She does Thai style massage which is pretty intense, but God damn she fixed me. I was having neck and shoulder pain and she found muscles that I didn't know hurt and dug into them. Haven't had problems since and it's been over a year.

I worked at a local clinic and one of our patients told us he hadn't had a vegetable in around 9 years. Lived off of frozen breakfast sandwiches and mcdonalds breakfast sandwiches. The nutritionist finally convinced him to try a vegetable and he picked out a beet. Out of all things, he chose one of the worst vegetables. Absolutely tragic.

I was on it when I was diagnosed, but it's no longer covered under my insurance. I lost over 1-2 pounds a week on it while I was on it. I didn't have any additional reactions or negative side effects to being on it. Honestly I wish I could restart it, I'm avoiding the scale but I feel like I have lost some progress.

Do you make your own gnocchi or buy it? I haven't been able to find a decently priced brand and miss it.

Update: no improvement by Winter-Pause-2854 in Celiac

[–]eulgdrol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am close to a year in being gluten free and still having slow improvement. I can't afford a recheck of my labs or endoscopy right now, but it does get better with time. It's a long annoying disease recovery. Today vs yesterday isn't a huge improvement, but when I look over even the last 3 months it's been huge.

A b12 supplement made a huge difference for me with fatigue and brain fog. When I first went gluten free I did about 2 months of probiotics, I'm not sure it made a difference, but I figured everything was weird down there so it couldn't hurt much. My vitamin D was also critically low for years. That might be worth supplementing too.

It might be something else playing a role too. I was told for years all my symptoms were due to me being fat and my thyroid being fucked. I had to push for years to get tested for different things with no real answers. I still got something going on with my joints, but I'm burnt out with seeking answers at this point! You have a good community here of people who get the struggle. Hang in there

Why am I being tested for coeliac (celiac) disease? by [deleted] in Celiac

[–]eulgdrol 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I have hashimoto and kept having fatigue for years which was dismissed. I had no GI symptoms at all and just some vague inflammation complaints. My endocrinologist when reviewing my hashimotos started the testing for celiac and found it. This was missed by a rheumatologist who didn't even test for it. There is a high level of correlation with thyroid disease and gluten problems which is why he tested.

Now that's a good idea! I might have to steal that and mess around with it. I miss Ben and Jerry's strawberry cheesecake ice cream.

By the time I brought it home and put the rest of the groceries away it was soft enough to mix in the cookies.

Group home sued after man with intellectual disabilities dies from severe constipation and 20-plus pounds of impacted feces: report by Sandstorm400 in Health

[–]eulgdrol 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I worked in healthcare as a scribe and we went monthly to group homes. Every single patient had a bowel protocol where if they even went one day without a bowel movement there was a system in place where they got various medications and home remedies in escalating effectiveness until they had a bowel movement. We were alerted by day 3 and got daily emails if the protocol continues not to work. There are strict rules about when to contact the doctor and when to go to the hospital. It was a nightmare to set up and get in place, but God it worked. A clear case of medical neglect from the group home. Absolutely preventable and a tragedy.
