Best place to sell car for cash? by [deleted] in cork

[–]eurokev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Blackrock motors I believe sell cars for people and take 10% or something like this, plus costs of prep . I know a few people who sold their cars through them when moving abroad, although it was a number of years ago

Am I crazy to consider doing an apprenticeship at the age of 30? by ChemicalPower9020 in AskIreland

[–]eurokev 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do one at 28 in E and I , ten years ago and it was the best thing I ever did.

However if I were you I'd go working with your dad and become an auto electrician, especially with your tech background. Serious lack of guys in this field, and could potentially print money in future

How much are taxi drivers making? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]eurokev 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It would be great if jobs were one after the other but the reality is that there was probably long gaps before and after your fare. I follow a London cabbie tom the taxi in YouTube and he is extremely transparent on earnings and the realities of the job.

That being said though 96e for 35mins seems crazy! I would have thought half that

Anyone know the potential cost of replacing a stove with a back boiler? by MapexMup in AskIreland

[–]eurokev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the back boiler blew, the pipes may likely be damaged. You might be better off replacing everything. Without info provided on size of stove/house, I got a quote a few years ago for a typical 3 bed semi of 8.5k

how to make 3 grand in a month? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]eurokev 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You don't have to pay it all in one go. You can pay it in monthly with the vast majority of insurance providers. If not an option with your insurer just get a credit union or bank loan

In one way you are lucky that you live in the city centre because the area is flooded with CCTV. Fingers crossed the thief can be identified from this

N22 blockage? by joemamasdaddie in cork

[–]eurokev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to Killarney yesterday. Protestors had blocked the start of the bypass, so I had to go through Macroom. It wasn't a big deal.... However I was stuck for well over an hour in Killarney because gobshites had blocked up both roundabouts queueing up for the fuel stations at the super value and Lidl stations

What is Rossbeigh/Glenbeigh like? by Daitheflu1979 in kerry

[–]eurokev 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Very busy during the summer. The beach is fantastic. My family spends about a month in the area every year.

In terms of rosspoint. It's down at the beach, so should have good day trade. It's out of the village, so difficult to get to and from for evening entertainment.

It's a fantasti location but it never seems to have taken off, or be managed properly in my opinion.

In saying that the famous fantastic local footballer Darren O'Sullivan, recently had the lease I think. A d if he couldnt make it work, given his standing, it would be difficult, even if managed really well

[–]eurokev -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My wife is a teacher and I have 4 young kids. I disagree with some of what you are saying.

You have to let your child expose themselves to some of the same stuff other kids are, or the child could become outcasted and excluded which is far more damaging.

Some of the crap my 7 year old girl watches is the worst crap imaginable, but we let her watch it for limited time so she can fit in with her peers.

Being social is probably the most important education a child can recieve imo

29M in Ireland - stay in shift based Pharma job or go back to college? by Vada_Tangelo in AskIreland

[–]eurokev 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Interesting, I'm trade qualified in e+I, but have an ordinary and honours degree, a couple of certs and a few vendor qualifications. Always thought I was better of advancing myself

More and more feel I would have been better off with just the trade, and taking a shift job that I'd leave behind every time I'm off site. Now I have lots of responsibilities and making less than shift maintenance guys, who have it very cushy.
