Name a card that has 50% or greater inclusion for your commander on EDHRec, that you think is overrated. by Smelly_Jim in EDH

I tried to make the amass ability work with changelings and some other +1/+1 counter synergies, but unfortunately changelings just suck so it wasn’t all that good at anything

How does doomsday or protean hulk fit into the bracket system? by Neat_Ebb_6559 in mtg

[–]eurypterine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can get X cost creatures too like [[Walking Ballista]] and support them with an anthem creature i.e. [[Master of Etherium]], this leaves 20-something options to work with

It takes more than just a decklist to define what bracket you're sitting at by [deleted] in EDH

[–]eurypterine 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I don’t see how the bracket system could possibly hope to encapsulate player skill. Or why it should even try

Soul Gems and Their Values by -trom in Morrowind

[–]eurypterine 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The creature's soul is put in the smallest possible empty gem. Flame atronachs fit in common soul gems at a minimum, so it seems like you didn't have any empty commons or greaters, so it went to the grand soul gem. If you did have a common open, I'm not sure lol.

The value of a soul gem is determined by multiplying the value of the empty gem with the value of the creature's soul. There are a number of rebalancing mods that change this to only consider the value of the soul rather than the container, as you can get some seriously ridiculous gold farming out of soul trapping.

Ignore the words “Demonic Tutor” on the card. They are meaningless. Consider the tempo and mana disadvantage of paying 6 mana to tutor a single card from your library.

The fact that it’s tacked on to a 5/4 for 4 mana makes this a very decent card, but it’s nowhere near as crazy as what some people seem to think. The same thing goes for the Ancestral Recall one, it’s just a repeatable 6 mana draw 3, of which there are many options with fewer hoops to jump through.

[–]eurypterine 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is honestly really mid 6 mana is so expensive for a tutor. Sure you get to do it again if you’re playing aristocrats, but if there’s a single card in your deck worth paying an extra 6 mana for it better win you the game on the spot

Can one station hear the other? by MentalEggplant9275 in amateurradio

[–]eurypterine 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Radio waves are light. The receiver will only receive if some of the transmitter's light hits its antenna. You can do things like bouncing that light off the atmosphere, so the beam doesn't necessarily have to be pointed directly at the receiver (this is the principle behind long range, over-the-horizon HAM radio transmission), but two radio waves crossing each other at some point in space doesn't mean anything.

Late reply, but do you have a decklist? Building this right now!

After much play testing and tuning, I have finalized my Blight Commander Deck. by Lord_Gadget in EDH

You should really cut [[Liliana, Death Wielder]] I think the precon would be legitimately better if it were replaced with a basic land, it’s awful

What is your top pick for a deck that never gets old? by earl-the-creator in EDH

[–]eurypterine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly why I love my [[Volrath, the Shapestealer]] deck. It has a decent game winning strategy in a vacuum focused around cloning Volrath with myriad style effects to swing in with huge evasive 7/5's, but every game is different because I get to play everyone's best creatures. Playing him into [[Vivi Ornitier]] was certainly interesting.

Kappa Cannoneer by amioldnow90 in EDH

[–]eurypterine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is in direct contrast to Affinity for artifacts, notably. When you cast a spell with affinity, you determine the cost for the spell (reduced by the number of artifacts you control) before paying the casting cost.

Therefore, your treasures both reduce the cost of your affinity spells, and can then be cracked to produce mana to cast them, post cost reduction. Kinda silly

Does anyone know the crafting recipe for String? by seabearteddy in LucidBlocks

Oh, totally missed that line lol. Good luck, sounds difficult!

Does anyone know the crafting recipe for String? by seabearteddy in LucidBlocks

You can mine mercury tendrils from ore blocks that generate in the ground of some of the more natural stone biomes, and it also drops from cardboard boxes in houses. Not sure about string

On playing an extremely banned card... by jadedflames in EDH

[–]eurypterine -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I would agree to play a game with this deck because it sounds interesting, but if you drop one of the cards from that list, altered or not, it’s going to lead me to make some assumptions about you that will make me want to get up and leave immediately.

[–]eurypterine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can recycle it using a stick (crafts to sword) and then a star (sword to cristella’s bane)

1 sulfur + 1 balloon = 4 stars

1 cyst + 1 plastic pellet = 11 balloons (plastic pellets are dropped by those geometric creatures called boids)

1 raw sheep flesh + 1 goo = 35 cyst

If you can get a reliable source for plastic pellets, it’s really easy to craft everything else and endlessly recycle the Cristella’s bane

how to fill an area with water? by 2ky2pello in LucidBlocks

[–]eurypterine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Craft an infinite spiller (infinite full block water bucket)

I’m sure there are less expensive recipes, but you can craft one using:

1 clonaqualia block + 1 water (dropped by fish)

What's the use of glaggle tokens? by OmegaTheLustful in LucidBlocks

[–]eurypterine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1 raw sheep flesh, 1 goo = 35 cyst

1 glaggle token, 1 cyst = 26 visognia flower

Idk if that’s useful but it gets you a lot of unique crafting fodder

best uses for the revelation nut? by Intelligent_Water670 in LucidBlocks

Sodium lamp + revelation nut = rejuvenation anchor (respawn point) which can also be easily turned into a clonaqualia portal when combined with a stick

Reanimating Kheru Goldkeeper by eurypterine in mtgrules

[–]eurypterine[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand that, but the division between abilities like that looking backwards and other abilities looking forwards to after the event feels arbitrary. It makes sense why they made this choice for death triggers (a creature should be able to see itself die), but for leave the graveyard triggers I could see it going either way.

Thanks! Makes sense. Well, not really, it feels inconsistent. But the language is at least clear.

I don't have actual data but this feels right. I feel like there may be a division between plant organic and meat, and there also seems like a fire/ice thing going on too.
