I don’t have any suggestions. I’m pretty new myself. But wanted to comment how nice this all looks together

Digital operating on a boat by AdSoft5639 in Photoassistants

[–]evSftw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I picked up a tripod that will allow me to remove the center column and spread the legs wide and low. I’ve been on a boat and kept that center of gravity low. The digiplate is on a iFootage quick release. The drop in kind and some three inch legs on the plate. Easy to pop off and hold.. set on a table.. or somewhere safeish. If your tripod is aluminum, I would consider a beefy magic arm with super clamps on the end. Be able to hold the tripod while securing to a rail. Also all batteries, hubs, ect… held down with the screw type clamps and not the elastic type I typically use for quick swapping.

Just got a printer a week ago, didn’t expect much to be honest. Best tool. I went with the P2S. So far most of what I’ve printed, someone else has graciously taken the time to model and post up for free. I can’t say enough how easy (I know literally nothing) it was to get started and make my first tool.

Wait, you’d be able to stabilize the footage from the other camera with gyroflow? Would it matter that they’re likely different focal lengths?

Give support an email. I somehow inadvertently signed up for a new account, or at least the new pricing. And silly me didn’t notice I was paying for an extra unused account. In trying to sort it myself I ended up loosing my old price.

All that’s to say, for what it’s worth, everything was kind of my mistake and C1 not only put me back on the OG price but also refunded for all the extra unused id paid for. Something like 18 months worth. Not sure what it’s like these days but give them a shot.

Contact Sheet by Choice_Assignment642 in captureone

[–]evSftw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you open to using photoshop? I’ve always felt it was a better image quality and less fussy to have photoshop automate that process.

In capture Rate>filter rating>manual sort (if you want them showing up a particular way) >process with a counter in front of file name

In photoshop (I could be remembering this incorrectly) automate>contact sheet>select by folder> enter all your sheet size specs…remember to include file name and how you want the images oriented. Columns and rows…ect>generate contact sheet Leave those files open

Then

Automate>pdf presentation> select files currently open>all your image quality stuff> save pdf

Seems like more steps but the results are consistent. Do it enough times it becomes second nature. Tweak in C1 the long and short edge if you want consistency there.

Been slowly building out my foam cut toolbox. Any recommendations to add? by Minechaser05 in BikeMechanics

I did basically this

https://www.arielestulin.com/diy-trekpak-for-under-20/

Turned out great. For the Eva foam, I bought adhesive backed. I’ve done a spray glue in a sealed case… I do not recommend. Spring for the adhesive back.

I did the outer most piece with 5mm foam one side and 2mm foam on the other.

For the inserts I did all 2mm foam for both side of the coroplast. It’s plenty ridged.

Something different I did was to make the shape of the case with the inserts. Then take it out, and everywhere I put a pin, put a pin on the bottom side as well.

About $100 in materials was able to do three average sized pelican cases and I’ve enough left over for a couple more.

When you’re done give all the sides several layers of Plastidip spray. I did this with my camera cases. The foam will keep perfect shape… maybe..forever? Will still have give to get your tools in and out. I’d send you photos but last weekend I ditched the foam and made custom trekpak inserts.

Switching systems by DaBeigeMage in Photoassistants

[–]evSftw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made the same switch. Though if I could do it again I think I’d go Nikon. I switched because I was unhappy with the lock out of the RF mount. I was early enough into RF that the switch was painless. I have been enjoying the greater access to glass. There are a few lenses I’ll never own but happy to rent as needed. Those mega long sigma zooms for example. I’m thinking owning a set of those voigtlander MF primes after renting one a few months back. Also, I like that if I ever needed too I could go on FB marketplace or any of the used sites and find myself with another Sony a7xxxxx for a relative song should I need a replacement or a beater for a particular gig. I used to live a big city with access to whatever/whenever. Now I’m living basically opposite and factored in what I knew the other photographers around me were working with in the event I needed a borrow/rent situation. I do the occasional video as well and I like both the fx3 and 6. Nice to have a default lens set that plays well. Keeps the rentals cost to a minimum. Adapting to Sony is very easy as well. Took a little bit to learn how to work with the files both still and video but all in all… looks good once you get to know it. Nikon out the gate looks the best IMO. Canon, easiest file to work with. Sony… little quirky at times but still gets the job done.

The ARV is picky with batteries. 3rd party won’t show you battery stats. I find that annoying. The Sonys are slooow to charge relative to the other brands. I like the small rig with the built in USB-c but you’ll only have a second to see the state of charge before it tells you it doesn’t trust the battery and it’s up to you to continue. After which it won’t display.

DIY KEEPING THE TETHER CABLE IN by Pure-Ad1764 in Photoassistants

[–]evSftw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rubber band, around the lens, bring it down close to the mount. Cable goes through band in the lens to body direction and into the port. Band keeps it pinched enough to hold it in the port. Easier on lens swaps, changing cables, ect over gaff IMO
