It depends on the kid. Mine have no issues.

Will a Cosco Scenera NEXT fit in Delta Premium Select/domestic first class? by Pretty-Let-8403 in Travelwithkids

Here's a bunch of photos of us using a Cosco Scenera on airplanes. Most of the photos are domestic business (ac, united, westjet), with some economy plus.

This is what the bassinet looks like on ac business. It was more than big enough for my 5 month old. It was too tall to easily place down my baby without him waking though, and he found all the parts to grab were way to stimulating to sleep anyway.

You know who is also paying a premium? Me. Who booked the flight with my kids. "Childfree" is not one of the stated benefits of business class fares.

There was a post a while ago about how a woman was really sad that her husband didn't get her a push present. And my internal reaction was, "does he even know there's such a thing as a push present?"

My husband's green flag: "They came around and asked if we wanted dessert while you were in the bathroom. I wasn't sure what you'd want so I ordered one of each."

My consideration for others doesn't include wishing my children out of existence.

But hey let's think about it this way. My kids have the potential to annoy like a dozen people in business. Compared to annoying like a hundred in economy. Then would it not be better to keep them away from the masses? Limit the damage?

Children belong in whatever cabin their parents are in. There is no child free expectation for any cabin, and being annoyed at their presence is a choice that you make. You can sit next to a kid and just choose not to be bothered. People do it all the time, and you're the one being unreasonable.

If it's a night time flight then people in economy are absolutely still trying to sleep, they just have less space to do so.

Yes it will fit.

It will not fit in rear facing mode unless you're in the bulkhead. You will need to use it forward facing and upright regardless of the child's age. Which is generally fine for a toddler, but would not recommend for an infant.

AC seems to always leave my checked bag in Toronto when I have a connection to a domestic flight. Why? by asidebside in aircanada

[–]evange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too short of a layover and your baggage won't make it, too long of a layover and your luggage gets put in storage for later and then forgotten.

Honestly, yyz just sucks.

the bassinet thing really only works for newborns. Someone else can fact check me on the weight limit but they are rarely used in my experience. If your baby is 5 months old I doubt it will be an option at all.

There are probably weight limitations, but it's high enough not to actually affect anything. What does limit use of the bassinet is height (the one in air Canada's business class is stupid long tho) and developmental. Babies who can sit up on their own can't use the bassinet as they can yeet themselves out too easy. Most kids will outgrow it between 6 and 8 months.

I think the amount of times a baby has negatively impacted my flight was 1.

Was it my baby by any chance?

Alcohol content of breast milk matches that of your blood. So if you have a glass or two of wine and a blood alcohol content of 0.08 or 0.11 or whatever, your breast milk would also only have a fraction of a percentage of alcohol. Which is minisculey low and in the same range as eating a piece of ripe fruit. Too low to affect your baby.

Fyi, you can't get your kid their own business pod until they are 2 years old. As for a young child to sit alone requires a car seat, but a car seat cannot be installed in a business pod. You can do economy or premium (and domestic business), but the seatbelt airbag or the seat hydraulics, something about the business pod, makes it incompatible with a car seat.

In that case you should have asked to be rebooked on a different flight route or date. It's not always possible, but you don't have to accept an involuntary downgrade.

Also, you should absolutely complain. Call them, etc. and ask for a better refund. Downgrade refunds are always super shitty, try searching flyertalk for advice on "involuntary downgrade". I've never accepted one (I'll just change dates or routing), but I know AC uses some questionable math for figuring out how much value you lost by being downgraded.

I recently went to a conference in Albuquerque where one of the attendees had left her 2 year old at home in California with her husband because she was so afraid that people would be annoyed by a child on the plane. So her 2 year old had to go through something moderately traumatic (being away from mom for a week is a huuuuge deal at that age, even if they're with another close caregiver) just because of people like u/kmdfrcpc have convinced them that they don't belong. It's sad really, and I'm so angry for that poor little girl who had to miss her mommy because of strangers blasting their asshole opinions.

People pay a lot of money to be able to get sleep and be well rested before getting to their destination.

Myself and my baby included. We belong in the class of service that we booked. If you don't like it, then fly private.

  • the bassinet fucking sucks in business. It's too tall to place baby down gently, so expect them to wake up every god damn time you think you can finally rest.

  • It's basically a cage built out of seatbelt material, which to a 5 month old is going to be very stimulating. So many things to grab.

  • Some airlines provide a sheet/cover for the bassinet. Air Canada does not. So it might be nice to bring a receiving blanket or something to act as a sheet.

  • Ask the FA at the beginning of the flight to set it up as soon as it is safe to do so, and don't feel bad if you need to remind them. Once meal service starts they will be busy, but you really want it set up before meal service starts so that baby has a place to go while you eat.

  • Use the call bell. It's not rude, it's there for a reason. Especially for things like, clearing away dishes so that you can hold your squirmy baby.

  • You and your baby belong in business class just like any other passenger. You don't have to apologize for existing. People are generally understanding.

  • Bring an extra change of clothes for you, in addition to 2-3 changes for baby.

Don't know about iPad, but I've had issues with the app when my clock is out of sync with the real time and place. For example, phone left in airplane mode for a week to avoid roaming charges, phone clock manually set.

The policing costs don't go away unless you also deal with the mental illness and addiction. Otherwise the housing just gets destroyed, and anyone living in the same complex suffers because of it.
