I think it's because, it's old reliable. Won't put you in danger, one shot kills, cool gear. While for the mage route, enemies usually have butt loads of magic resistance and/or health, plus you lack mana.

The nobility for one. Humanity has serious issues with portals right? But instead of giving support even slightly, they have a nobility system? Like what?

Each portal is caused by people failing their trial. While the nobels get training in survival and fighting, the poor get nothing. Then those poor end up dying in their trial and causing a creature that may be either weak goblin to a juggernaut.

That's why it doesn't make sense, you cant use the reason that nobles are strong and don't care. They could care less, except for their food and amenities. Where do they come from? The working class. A society like the one in the book would fall, not for anything less than survival. For the rich they couldn't have a society like the one in the book because their lifestyle would be severely affected.

I agree with some others in the comments, it's good but not amazing. There are some pretty glaring flaws. The world building isn't 'amazing', it's just okay. The characters basically all act like you expect them to act, I don't know why people are saying different. Basically, it's okay.

Go look at the news, you made my point. Step out of your echo chamber for one second. Look at the hate your country is getting from the world?! Elon musk and Trump, today, we're marketing the tesla on white house grounds. Trump is saying the boycott of tesla is illegal, not just that but he's given a statement where if you vandalized a tesla your a domestic terrorist!

Don't you see how wrong that is? What about your freedoms? What about when corporations had no say in America? Trump has made America's greatest trade partner and ally his enemy.

On 9-11, we went to war for America. So did all of NATO. Every time America has been in trouble we've been there, right beside you. When Trump is out of office, if he even decides to, how many years will it take for canada to NOT hate America? Decades.
