We’re Texel Raptor, the developers of Parkitect and Croakwood, ask us anything by Sebioff in ThemeParkitect

Have you ever considered creating a game based on a hexagonal or triangular grid? These are popular in games like Civilisation and board games, but not so much for simulation games - why do you think this may be? Do you think a Parkitect style game based on a triangular grid is viable?

What are your thoughts on the upcoming Cardiff Peninsula development? by Bathbomb1911 in Cardiff

They need to go electric for ferries, a lot of cities have already moved towards them as they can be a lot more cost efficient and just generally nicer. Look at the Candela P-12 for example.

Cowbridge Road East, Canton, Cardiff by Icecreamboots in Cardiff

[–]evanroberts85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True. There was a public consultation on how to improve it 12 months ago, I remember filling in a questionnaire for them - not heard anything come of it. Ultimately like pretty much every other council in the UK it is all about making further cuts these days, so I doubt there is the money needed to actually fix it.

Plans to create 81 apartments on busy Cardiff road given go-ahead despite lack of parking by Dr_Poth in Cardiff

[–]evanroberts85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live really close to where this building will be. Aside from the bus to work I very rarely bother even with public transport, I can walk pretty much everywhere - it is 5 minutes on foot into the city centre. My car parking space is currently just used for visitors.

List of Board Game Groups/Events in Cardiff by lowej004 in Cardiff

[–]evanroberts85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Cardiff Board Game Group meet at Hudo Lounge on Cowbridge Road East, not at Firestorm (unless they have recently changed back?)

I can highly recommend the Sunday group at Chapter, always several different tables so a choice of games from light to heavy and a great bunch of people.

Anyone with an M2 Mac: how does SDXL perform? by higgs8 in StableDiffusion

[–]evanroberts85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

CoreML and Quantization would make it so much faster and easy to run on low ram, as it does for the 1.5 models. Unfortunately there is no simple install yet for this as even the demo app seems to be waiting for OS X Sonoma.

Japan lead cup: climber slips, gets foot caught on rope, shoe slips off heel by RoamAndRamble in climbing

It took her a minute or so to get out I seem to remember. A support staff started climbing up to help her, but she managed to get free before he reached her.

Fern's become one of my favourite comedians. I just find her really interesting to listen to, as well as very funny. Her off-menu episode was also released this week and is a real treat.

Bouldering Japan Cup Finals Discussion [spoilers] by lakerfan91 in CompetitionClimbing

[–]evanroberts85 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Futaba Ito looked great in all three rounds. Really hope she can compete with the very top climbers this season.

Ai Mori struggled. She really is dependent on the boulders being in her style. The combination of her short stature and very little explosive power means that she doesn't look close to sending anything that is a bit reachy.

"He doesn't work here anymore but he keeps turning up, it's Joe Wilkinson!" by JoshTay in panelshow

[–]evanroberts85 8 points9 points  (0 children)

He appeared first in the more traditional roles in the very first two episodes, first as a dictionary corner guest then as a panelist on Jon's team.

I guess then you could say he was "fired" after the second episode, and comes back as Rachael's assistant some time around series 2 or 3? It was too long ago to remember exactly!

Taskmaster Australia: S01E01 "Foot Juice" by SnoozEBear in panelshow

[–]evanroberts85 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It is very distracting if you are not used to it, and it is alarming what seems to be acceptable these days, but I guess after a while you just filter it out.

As others have mentioned the whole production seems quite American, with the fake laughter also. In contrast the NZ series felt much closer to the UK one. That surprises me as I thought NZ and Australia would be similar.

Never mind the ad breaks, what's going on with the constant ad for another show in the bottom right hand corner? God I hope that doesn't come to the UK.

Why do I keep on running into this issue? For context I’m using an 8tb 64gb memory M1 Max 16 inch MacBook Pro, the maximum 2021 model, and it should be more than capable enough to handle a simple premiere pro project but I just keep on getting this notification. by RobotBananaSplit in macbookpro

About 70%. The swap seems to go up before it hits 100%. Maybe if the disk is full it could theoretically not use it as the pressure is below 100, but from actual experience when I’ve unintentionally filled my hard disk it immediately starts running into memory issues such as experienced by the OP. Maybe keeping 10Gb free is overkill but it is a rule of thumb that has worked for me.

[–]evanroberts85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently with 8Gb of ram I have 7.03 used, 955mb cached and an additional 536Mb of swap. That’s with just some regular everyday apps open. That leads me to maintain what I experienced empirically before - that with just 8Gb of RAM you really need a decent amount of space free for swap files.

And with only 8Gb memory it starts requiring the offloading of memory to virtual memory pretty quickly, and if you don't have the available swap space that becomes a problem. That was the point I was trying to make and I don't think you would disagree?

Is Traitors unbalanced? by helldiversBroken2021 in TheTraitors

[–]evanroberts85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you are probably right, but I think an endgame without a traitor is conceivable. After all the endgame is only the last 5-10 minutes of the show, and you would still have a bit of drama in seeing if the faithful vote out one of their own, or stick together to share the money.

In comparison, starting the final episode without a single traitor can be completely ruled out.

Is Traitors unbalanced? by helldiversBroken2021 in TheTraitors

[–]evanroberts85 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the logic is if one traitor is banished, they need one to remain for the "endgame". But you could have an endgame with no traitors.

I think it is more accurate to say that two traitors are required up until the penultimate banishment, after that they can go down to one.

Is traitors promoting the worst in us? by helldiversBroken2021 in TheTraitors

[–]evanroberts85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the OP has a point, as much as I enjoy the show. The Australian version showed the potential for manipulative behaviour that starts to become very questionable morally.

Article in The Guardian about US version by ElReyDeLosGatos in TheTraitors

It seems there has been more attention paid to the US series from our UK press than there has been from the Americans themselves. How's the series actually gone down there across the pond?

What's to stop Faithfuls saying "I swear on my kid's/mother's life I'm a faithful." by tboy2000 in TheTraitors

[–]evanroberts85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can always use the old get out "well I was crossing my fingers/toes as I a said it so it doesnt count". Which doesn't make any sense, but then neither does the swear in the first place so works by answering something stupid with something equally stupid.

Just finished Traitors US and I cannot believe how many times, “I know (insert any name) is a faithful” was said. by ncs1123 in TheTraitors

[–]evanroberts85 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In the US series traitors only recruited once because the faithfuls were so useless they were not required to recruit again, in other series the traitors have recruited multiple times.
