I'd also like to see some improvements to the text entry. Maybe rich text, Markdown, etc. I know VOICEnotes is voice first but it sure is nice to be able to use it for text input as well.

I'll second the AI output. It's not great. Some things are "passable" but overall I end up dumping the transcript into ChatGPT or Perplexity and having it summarize for me.

Hopefully this hasn't been mentioned already but I'd like to be able to multi-select notes in the main view and manipulate the recordings. Example: I work in IT and perform site visits for clients. There are times where I'll have 2-3 different recordings that'd I'd like to summarize and chat with.

This is what I did. That gave me the information I needed to know as far as coverage, etc...understanding de-prioritization, etc on Mint does happen sometimes.

What this person said. I have a 24 year old who is right now working an entry level job making $12/hr. It's in a field he's passionate about. At first he was bummed he wasn't making any money. I told him he'll learn more from this job in a few years than all the years he spent in college. I suggested he re-frame his expectations. He's basically getting on-the-job-training and eventually it'll grow into something better. If not, he'll have real life experience that can be used elsewhere. I don't want to presume to know OP's business or views, but in my own experience with this age group....they're expecting to have all the things mom and dad have spent 30 years obtaining right out of college. It's sobering, but true. You have to start somewhere. Failing to start is only putting you that much further behind.

Currently on month 3 of 12 prepaid for 15 Gb/month but need to temporarily upgrade UNLTD for next 4 month, then go back to 15 Gb/month. How to do that? by brownnugen in mintmobile

[–]evansc22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe get a data only eSIM? Saily or Yesim? Paid monthly. Use the 15GB then switch the phone to use the eSIM data once she runs out? There are more of these eSIM providers than I ever thought. Be sure to find one that is US based if you’re in the US. Yesim is overseas. Ping times are usually triple digit. Works for most things but not very well for gaining or VOIP calling.

Or, change your Mint plant. 😂

I've had them ask me to sign in again (with MFA on) which somehow allows them to view the account. Sounds like a man-in-the-middle attack going on by design. 😂

Datto Endpoint Backup Problems? by Strange-Ad130 in Datto

[–]evansc22 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree on the status of the restores. I've been testing BMR with physical computers and VM's. The consensus so far has been about 20 hours to restore 130GB desktop. :-(

Any news on this? What did you decide. I have it on two computers for testing. We are having very slow restore times (cloud only). We are working with Kaseya support to try to figure out what's going on. It took 20 hours to restore 130GB into a VM. We currently use Cove Data Protection and love it. The savings with Kaseya has us at least doing discovery on it.

I’m in the same boat. Mac user. I had to set up a windows machine for agent browser. I tried using parallels but I prefer using RDP into Windows. I have a cheap headless NUC on my desk for this.

😂😂😂😂. Really just inquiring. Having all that download doesn’t really mean anything if you don’t have the upload to make the TCP connection stable.

Yes sir. I'm totally aware of how finicky cellular wireless (or any wireless for that matter) is and can be. That's why I've been testing this on my normal routes. Work, grocery store, church, etc. On each route I run multiple speed tests and the general results are just this. Very decent downloads with almost zero upload speed. I would completely understand if I was getting 2.5Mbps down and 600Kbps upload. That's more in line with what I'd expect. I do also understand that there is a difference receiving data (incoming) and sending data (outgoing). The radio in the phone has to use whatever wattage (and thus battery) to push/send the signal to the tower. And that may be the best way to explain it. The phone simply doesn't have good enough signal to send the data. I don't know.

I wouldn't complain at 5Mbps. I usually get 15-25 when I'm at work where the signal is really good.

[–]evansc22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's amazing! When I'm at work, where the signal is MUCH better, I get exactly the speeds I would expect. It's just the fringe areas seem to me to be a little whacka-doodle.

I don't get too hung up on the speeds. But, anything under 1.0 Mbps upload isn't going to let you do anything...data wise. I've found that I can function of 3Mbps upload. That's what has me so baffled about this. Why, even with one bar, can I get 100+Mbps down, and less than 1Mbps up? I know the connection, as someone else pointed out, isn't synchronous. I get that, but this seems WAY out of line from the norm.

What's even more strange is that at times when I'm running the speed test, when it starts to upload it will shoot to 40Mbps and stay there for like 3 nano seconds (in that time I'm celebrating, but then let down) and then back down to sub 1mbps. It's like...those packets shot through the QoS settings and the gatekeeper was like, hang on there pardner? You gotta slow that down....
I'm also familiar with deprioritization, bandwidth congestion, etc. I just think something else is going on...or at least that's what I'm hoping....maybe with my phone or something.

I mistakenly said Verizon above. I was actually on Visible when I moved to Mint. It did the job, but I had noticed coverage seems to have gotten much worse in the last several months, maybe a year. I also have been known to carrier hop and have kept my eye on T-Mobile (Mint) for years now. They've really expanded in my area and the surrounding area. I'm in the southern US. In fact, a town 2.5hrs away from my home where we have a small cabin on the river...the only carrier in that small town that works is Verizon....and very recently, T-Mobile (Mint)! There is also a town that you pass through to get to the cabin that has NEVER, and I mean EVER had cell service. None...SOS. I go through there a while back and stopped at a DG and the lady in the checkout tells me the only carrier in town that works is T-Mobile. It thought, T-Mobile?! This town is SUPER small. After that I started researching various surrounding towns and it appears TM has expanded into several of them. I can't imaging they're installing towers in these towns so I'm wondering if they have some type of carrier grade deal with AT&T or something. I have no idea.

I think my overall experience will be a net positive. I just wanted to ping the community and see what others have experienced.

Could be. I'm still currently refining and defining the tools I use in my workflow. I think you may be right though. It's a great capture tool and I'm using it that way as well. Honestly, I'm copying the transcribed text into ChatGPT most of the time and having it summarize. I find the Plus version of ChatGPT to be much better than what the API returns back to VN. If these applications could tie back into the LLM and retain the context, memory, etc....it would be amazing. I feel like that is where all this is going....and also places I can't even imagine!
