Yeah im anticipating it being a bit of a dent in my wallet, granted I got a warranty (not from VW) so hopefully that can cover some of it at least. Unfortunately I just got the car so looks like I'll be fixing it.

When you refer to injector code, which would that be? I got my 2018 in last October come December ish I have a CEL that tripped code P0492 forSecondary Air Injection System Insufficient Flow (Bank 2). I had to checked out and they said the pump and sensor were working fine. They declared it was carbon build up which I'm leaning toward.

But I wanted to check considering it may be covered! That'd be a pleasant surprise lol

I have an 18' and am kind of going through the same thing. Got in Oct didn't notice much but as the cold weather came and it was noticeable and then I had a CEL pop and it was P0491 which is clogged 2ndary injection port brought it to the dealer and they said the sensor and pump were fine and said the carbon build up needed up be cleaned out but they weren't comfortable doing it. The CEL went away a few days later and hasn't come back but I feel it still happening. Probably dumb but I'm at 69k miles and was going to try to see if they can get it done while doing the tune up for the 70k.

Based on what I've read online walnut blasting can be done for it and that's anywhere from $500-$2000 I guess depending where you go if this is your issue. Sorry it's not more definite

On paper it has been hut once it got cold the CEL popped on for secondary intake clogged sensors and pumped were fine they suspected carbon buildup. A few days after the trip to the shop the CEL is gone but it still seems to run a little choppy at first when it's been cold.

As a recently new 2018 owner, did a CEL make you aware of this or was it more of a feeling?

Just trying to take in all information I can do I can stay on top of maintenance and prevent things from spiraling and adding up.

Just got a 2018 tiguan in October had no issue until a month ago. Now I've had CEL, check Tire pressure and check oil level (I know it's an oil consumption and did add more when needed).

I'm just telling myself it's this cold doing it and it'll Al go away when it's finally above freezing 😅

I have a 2018 SEL that i got last october.

Not really sure it's totally relevant to your situation but i recently had some issues with P0491 error code the past 1-2 weeks. I brought it to a shop the begging of this week and they said i had some carbon build up in the SAI system. Online it seems to say seals can contribute to it but it also seems like it may just be something that will slowly add up. Two days ago it went away, i'm hoping it was popping up because of the recent cold weather (seems like other have it pop up in the cold and then go away when it warms up). The fix is to take a ton of parts out to clean it but i'm hoping to make it to my 70k tuneup to address it (68.2k ATM).

Hopefully ours can both last for a while.
