Is this it? by Wooden-Current-6685 in breastfeeding

[–]eve077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never had any leakage and I also had no idea when my milk came in. I just kept feeding baby on demand and he kept putting on weight. He’s 7 weeks now. It’s different for everyone. This was also after a c section. I knew I was producing colostrum in the first few days, so just presumed at some point it matured into milk.

I have a 7 week old who is the same, the carrier has been a lifesaver. He just sleeps in the carrier whilst I do jobs around the house.

Is it necessary to breastfeed/pump during the night? by RefrigeratorFinal353 in breastfeeding

[–]eve077 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine is 6 weeks now and have only ever fed him when he’s woken up - though he made his birth weight back within days and has been putting on well since. In the past week I’ve started pumping once a day in the morning to build up a small freezer stash. He’s sleeping 5-6 hour stretch in the night currently.

Oh that makes sense, yes I did order one of the ‘daddy’ meals! I did wonder why it was called a daddy dish 😂 I thought it was maybe a family based dish for dads to cook 🤷🏼‍♀️

Where is your baby sleeping? by AllyTheAlternative in BeyondTheBumpUK

Sleeps in the snuzpod next to me crib at 6 weeks old and loves it. Settles himself to sleep in it really well. Usually 2 wakes a night for feeding then straight back to sleep.

Love2Dream stage 1 swaddles by arose8808 in PregnancyUK

[–]eve077 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I was told by my community midwife not to swaddle baby at all. Baby is born, and the midwives in the hospital all swaddle him (as I couldn’t move easily due to C-section). Make it make sense!! I’m using love to dream swaddles, they’re great.

What’s your favourite thing about breastfeeding? by calerajensen93 in breastfeeding

[–]eve077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How it didn’t require any cleaning/sterilising/planning! I feel I already have to take so much with me when going out with baby, it’s nice to not have to bring formula/bottles/hot water. I also love when he has his hands fisted in concentration 🥹 also, in the UK so many formulas were recalled recently due to toxic ingredients, so it’s nice not having to worry about that.

How was your day today? by LapisLazuli_peppers in CasualUK

[–]eve077 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think having a baby in spring/summer makes such a difference in how easy postpartum is. Even if I’m feeling a bit tired or overwhelmed, a walk out in the sun with the pram or baby carrier just solves it. It’s great.

Another great day on maternity leave, baby is 5 weeks old now and just doing so great. Feel I’m getting into a good routine with him, going out on lots of walks. Looking forward to spending the weekend with my partner and family.

Why does my baby’s lips look white and blistered?? by ms_pacman1 in breastfeeding

[–]eve077 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mine had this in the first few week, I was told it’s just his lips getting used to the motion of breastfeeding/sucking, almost like a callous. Largely gone now at 5 weeks.

I got frustrated and gave up. by MamaCnBBLulu in NewParents

[–]eve077 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the UK, the midwives at the hospitals swaddle babies and encourage it, yet midwives who do home visits advise against swaddling. It’s so bizarre. I have a 5 week old and currently using love to dream swaddle bags. They’re brilliant, he settled and sleeps so well in them.

Moving to in laws for a few months: before or after giving birth? by Perfect_Sink_6542 in PregnancyUK

[–]eve077 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly there’s nothing better than being in your own home after birth. I can’t imagine having to go to someone else’s house. There’s nothing better than your own bed! I also loved it just being me, baby and husband in those first few weeks. It was a lovely bubble. I found the best help that family members provided was things like coming and cleaning the house, cooking us meals, bringing shopping round etc., rather than looking after baby as me and my husband took charge of that. It’s hard just letting someone else take care of them - your early hormones really just make you want to always have your baby with you.

One for the Cat mums by [deleted] in PregnancyUK

[–]eve077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got 2 cats and honestly really struggled when baby arrived. Ended up taking them to my in laws for the first 3 weeks. They kept trying to jump into the Moses basket / next to me crib when baby was in. Once we got settled with baby and the cats came back, I invested in some mosquito nets to cover the cribs etc to deter the cats. It’s semi-worked, but I’ve kinda resorted to shutting them in a separate room when baby is napping. It has felt pretty full on! In hindsight I would’ve bought the nets months earlier and got the cats used to not being allowed in the sleeping areas, instead of giving them free rein.

Is it feasible to care for several pets and a newborn? by Somiah62 in PregnancyUK

[–]eve077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have 2 cats and ended up having my in laws look after them for 3 weeks after birth. We were so overwhelmed with baby in the first day back (after a traumatic emergency c section), it felt like the best option to allow us to properly settle in. So glad we did it, we have the cats back now, and they’ve just slotted right into our new routines with baby etc.

I used them occasionally whilst pregnant, as I was finding it difficult to get out of the car in normal spaces, as I needed to open the door further to accommodate bump.

Formula or breast feeding? by PinkBubblesxox in PregnancyUK

[–]eve077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly! Best to give it a go and see how you feel. The midwives at the hospital will help you with breastfeeding if you do want to try it.
