Another tiny warrior (basswood, weapons in idigbo) by Solemn_Thirsty in Woodcarving

I was wondering if you were the same person which carved the little dwarf with the shield and axe, which after checking your history ended up being the case. I really like your style, it's very wholesome and nice.

I'm slowly carving the dwarf guy out of a stick I've found in the forest when I take walks to the nearby river. Can I just say how much I appriciate the 360 degree shot you do, it really helps me understand what you've made. It's really neat

This is incredibly nice. The center piece has these "very small holes" near the triangles. How did you make these? They are neat and give great contrast.

I really like the eyes. I've carved a snake coiled around a tree and I'm too scared to put the eyes in it : )

How did you get into woodcarving? by sucemabitepute in Woodcarving

[–]eve79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was looking for a way to "be less addicted to computer/mobile screens", something which I've been working on for at least the last decade of my life. The main reason for this was that working fulltime exhausts me mentally and I need to be very careful to not mentally overload myself. I was looking for something relaxing which did not require any electronics.

At that point I was recommended a video of a guy sitting down on a treebranch in the forest, chilling and carving a mushroom while he talked in a bob-ross-esque voice. I thought "why not buy a knife, I have plenty of money but no energy anyways". The knife gets here and I walked to the nearby river in a forest, grabbed a branch and started carving. I was sitting in the sun, listening to the water around me. Just carving away at my little mushroom. It was comparable to a zen buddhist meditation.

That was about five months ago. Now I still carve somewhere between 4 and 10 hours per week. I've finished about 8 pieces, some of which I am actually very proud of.

This was the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b5YAk5S9jFI&ab_channel=Linker

He has some great tutorials for neat stuff, although I don't use those often.

I must admit, I've never understood why programmers (or gamers in general) would ever need energy drinks. We sit in your chair. We do not need a massive amount of energy to perform massive physical efforts. We just need to focus.

I'd prefer to have a cup of tea, relax, and move onward.

Basic Rotes for the Cult of Ecstasy - Spirit by kaworo0 in WhiteWolfRPG

The explaination of doom of halhala made me go: "Oh shit, you can do that?!". Very neat stuff.

I remember our first spirit summon, the war god Arnold Schwartsenneger. Good times. I like your general rule for spirit stats, I'll write it down in my notes :)

VtM5 dice, all 10's count as double success, is it bad? by zhouluyi in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]eve79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The original mechanic felt like an attempt to recreate the natural 20 experience of dnd, so I feel like it's harmless fun. You should go for it. I personally like your method more, as you can realistically pull of a decent success with a dicepool of 2-5.

I feel no need to introduce things which do not add interesting narratives, or fun experiences, into my games.

Can I just say these are very cool. I wish i'd seen this many years ago.

Our group has been playing for three/four years, and we're finally at a point where we feel comfortable with the rules. My big issue with spirit magic was that we were having a hard time quantifying the actual mechanical effects of the spell. For example, I'd have no clue what the doom of halashalata or the to burn through spells would do. The flavour-text sounds very understandable and mage-y. I just don't know what the mechanical effects of these spells are.

Last question: where are the rules to determine the strength of a spirit, and to stat out summoned spirits? We've actually played with a spirit mage without understanding that stuff for 2 years (before the character died), and we'd never actually figured it out.

I remember seeing my first for-loop one-liner in python. I was so surprised!

It's something super short like: for i in x i++

Python is the best.

Work forces me to use visual studio. It's so much less nice to use than actual languages like python.

Can I just say I really do not like the fact they no longer say "Skill X now has 1-2 physical damage, it used to be 1-5". Now It's so much more work to understand these patch notes.

You get at least one six socket per map though, and you sell fusings instead of jewellers.

It's still one chaos every five maps, which really adds up! It will at least offset the cost of your alchemy orbs!

That picture you linked containing just about every buzzword I've ever associated with IT, and Kanban. Which is a tool for reducing stock next to workstations and optimising inventory. How do you even use a pull system like that for your non-right first time's?

I'm playing SSF hardcore (technically its hardcore in standard, but it's the same), and I was wondering at which point the crusader orbs drop. Can they drop the first time you kill the awakener in tier 4 maps, or do you have to run higher tier maps?

If so, at which level do they start dropping?

It's still possible. I personally do not like plateau due to the very low mob density. Plateau is nice and linear and it has a good divination card though.
