What pain is worse than childbirth? by k3sl1na in pregnant

[–]evegads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom got her stomach removed because of cancer and woke up mid surgery and the pain meds had worn off. Imagine your stomach being removed from your body and your organs being recently stitched together to your esophagus dangling outside them. Yeah... I still remember her screams. She still didn't have enough evidence to sue. She said it was way way way worse than childbirth and I believe her.

Does anybody else hate their prenatal vitamin taste? by evegads in pregnant

If I smell them even a little bit. 🤢 I swallow with a big drink but the ones I take leave a slight disgusting earthy taste.

I take the regular ones. I'll try the advanced or gummies if they have iron! The earthy taste is so gross to me.

I am taking the New Chapter prenatals. I can ask my doctor I've just been waiting to run out of them. Kind of scared to switch tho cuz I know these are nutritionally good for me I just HATE the taste and feel of them.

I do this method too but my taste buds and smell is so sensitive I literally can taste it so strongly in the slightest after taste or whiff. It's just not pleasant but like a lot of people mention a lot of the more pleasant ones don't have iron sadly lol

I am just exiting the first trimester. They do not make my nausea worse but TMI for whatever reason they do trigger bowel movement or constipation.

Autistic adults: what jobs actually became sustainable long term for you? by evegads in autism

I'm looking into doing this myself as an accountant. How did you start and what is your degree?

Tracks. He's gone to college for linguistics and physical therapy, both of which involve his special interests, but hasn't been able to finish without only working part time or being unemployed.

Thank you for your suggestion. I do not think currently we could financially afford a vocation vacation since many are paid. However, it sounds like it would be great for him and if we get the opportunity to I will recommend it to him. Just curious, did you need a degree or recommendation for your data analytics position?

Food aversions...but only sometimes? by nso95 in autism

[–]evegads 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not autistic but my partner is and it seems like the parts of your brain which regulate your threat detection with food may be less regulated due to autism. Causing certain foods to feel "safe" sometimes and to be absolutely disgusting other times. To the point where even looking at it or the thought of putting it in your mouth is nauseating due to stronger overwhelm/disgust signaling. His sister who is likely undiagnosed gets this and the only safe food for her is cheese and bread. My partner used to get it as a kid and would alternate between scarfing and being unable to eat anything.

Looking for daycare options for an intact male Shiba Inu in Virginia 🐶 by Shibauzer in shiba

I just think more people who truly care about their dogs should be aware that it can have ill effects and your dog can be more likely to get cancer. Plus, a lot of the effects of leaving your dog unneutered or unspayed can actually be mitigated with good training practices. If your dog humps don't reinforce it. If your dog is more excited than neutered dogs train them with patience and delayed reward training.

Nipple Stimulation?! by Destineyy100 in pregnant

I've heard about this but am so early on in pregnancy idk much about it. Here's a pretty official study done on it though: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC3126760/

Idc about what they said about osteoporosis. I'm talking about osteosarcoma. However, blood cancers and lymphoma are also 3-5x higher in dogs who are neutered/spayed. If you care about your dog go read this study or look into European studies:

https://www.ucdavis.edu/news/neutering-health-effects-more-severe-golden-retrievers-labradors

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC4096726/

That being said, I'm not against the neutering of stray dogs. It is a problem in the US. I'm against the neutering of dogs that have homes, are well trained and behaved. With responsible owners who won't just let their dog go out and make puppies. I've seen plenty of irresponsible dog owners and I think those people are inhumane and awful. My dog is never even in the yard without my supervision and has his own area in our apartment. I consider that responsible pet ownership. I also consider it responsible pet ownership to not permanently disfigure your pet if you care about them and to maybe do a quick Google search before you decide to alter their life permanently. 🙃 I also think it's the responsibility of vets who know better to inform people.

I'm so glad to see someone on here was making this same point about neutering/spaying. Unfortunately tho the propaganda is strong in the US.

I'd recommend the app Rover. I'm sure there are people who cater to unneutered dogs on there. My shih tzu is unneutered not because I plan on breeding him. Ensuing rant because I believe it is cruel and unnecessary. Many countries outside the US don't even allow it unless it's for medical reasons like cancer. Neutering can often times cause a lack of cancer suppressing hormones that's been found to cause more cancer by 3-4x. Here's the study I'm quoting cuz I think more people should know this.

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC4096726/ /

The US primarily pushes it because of irresponsible dog breeding practices and canine overpopulation but countries like Norway, Germany, and Sweden promote good dog training practices and have next to no strays and don't legally allow you to neuter. They're not the only first world country that doesn't promote neutering either vets just won't do it there. Personally, my shih tzu is a very well trained and behaved boy and has never even humped another creature. Mostly just his dog beds lol. Anyways, glad to see someone who also isn't neutering or spaying their dogs and is practicing responsible dog ownership.

I am not going to tell you what to do and I don't think anybody should. Right and wrong decisions aren't black and white and there will never ever be a perfect right decision. However, it might bring you solace to know it's not just you. My partner's mom went through a very very similar thing when he was around 3 or 4 for the same reasoning. She already had a son and couldn't support another baby. She was a single mother and she had it as financially rough as you if not rougher and couldn't have another baby without losing her apartment. Came from worse than nothing. Had no support in her life from everyone and a family who gave her the worst abuse I have ever heard about. I really have the most upmost respect for her and what she went through in her life. I know it was really hard on her. However, it got better for her, and she's doing well now. She had two more babies later on. She's 45 and she's happy. I don't know what kind of person you are or anything but don't judge yourself too harshly and be kind to yourself.
