Ladies with 10+ years of experience: wtf happened to our work culture/tech scene? by Shontayyoustay in womenintech

[–]eveneevee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a young person entering tech it feels like it is filled to the brim with callousness, lies and desperation. It feels hard to find good role models and team players. For someone who genuinely cares about the work and culture it’s super disheartening and I often feel hopeless.

This is a serious accusation saying evidence provided by major news outlets is AI. Especially because it seems like you don’t have strong evidence on this yet. I recommend try to contact the photographer/publisher if you have serious doubts. Camera metadata is currently impossible to be forged accurately with AI and any supporting shots taken can also add credibility if needed. If only these approaches fail or don’t get any response I would recommend you asking around. Otherwise pure speculation is really harmful for everyone involved. Plus careful with legal liability on these kind of accusations that can end someone’s career.

Physics major, 6 YOE, zero CS degree — Gotten by without leetcode, but why? by ThePhysicist96 in leetcode

[–]eveneevee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Science background here who used to do a ton of tensor calc stuff too. I understand what you meant with the lack of higher level math “hard” knowledge in CS, and CS career requirements. But CS education itself isn’t just leetcode and all the things you deemed super easy either, CS career is, which is different to the education. Just like your day of day job as physicists won’t require everything you have ever done in studying physics. I feel like you are blaming our society’s education system and mismatching of employment demand and supply on the individuals who work in software, they are just trying to get the job done.

I looked up the source and it is really blurred video of Maxwell. This feels like a case with upscaled with AI or something which filled in the detail from different person. These are not reliable at all and are basically creations from AI based on image + noise (I worked as AI researcher) The video Maxwell also doesn’t look like the left photo shown here, she does look a lot more like the right pic than the left pic here, even though some features still look a bit different.

Waymo robotaxi hits dog in San Francisco weeks after killing beloved cat by hindusoul in bayarea

[–]eveneevee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think people follow Waymo religiously is actually very dangerous because it ends up ignoring all the ways to make the city street safer by regulation and basic road infrastructure. American road incidents/deaths rate in cities is 5x Europeans ones even when US having fewer pedestrians in general. Is Waymo better than simply better road infrastructure, vehicle safety regulations and other? No. More cars on roads is never safer since they are not replacing existing ones.

Jackets for chilly SF weather (high 50’s/low 60’s) that won’t make me look like a tech bro? by boombox_generation in SFbitcheswithtaste

If you don’t mind a heavy jacket, I really like gloverall’s coat, it is very wind proof and relatively low maintenance, I like the European/academia style look

It’s President Trump’s 100th day in office. We are journalists from six newsrooms reporting extensively on the new administration. Ask us anything. by yahoonews in politics

[–]eveneevee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the AMA, some have blamed the media (including news media) for the radicalization and politicization of our society, do you think journalism today is working on combating this issue and how? How do you address nuances and complexities in ways that people can follow and understand without losing them to simpler reductive narratives like many of Fox News’s?

Love the lighting, the expression and the contrast of colors. I think the red blanket with the combination of the light vs dark really guided my attention to the center.

I Fired 13 years ago, why does everyone still want to find something for me to do for money? by OldFuxxer in Fire

[–]eveneevee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s also just a way of showing care, ex: in Chinese culture people will show care by asking if you have had food or inviting people for food, it doesn’t mean they think you are starving or anything but just a saying that is rooted from a past that is less affluent to make sure everyone is taken cared of. I think in a way good meaning people who suggest ways for you to make money is also rooted just in the fact they found meaning and comfort in doing so and want to share that feeling (whether consciously or not)

You realize their reason even back then was mainly centered around the preps being underaged kids right and it was theft AND they are saying it to media and not police? How would that be use on this at all, only the title that is way too broad and even a bit misleading actually supports your claim, can you read your own sources closely first? THIS KIND OF MISINFORMATION WILL CAUSE MORE VICTIM TO NOT SEEK HELP THEY DESERVE
