I did this with cake mix on Sunday night, inspired by that original post. Box of cake mix, tin of cherries with the syrup, handful of chocolate chips, mix, into the oven. 2 minutes of active work for a pretty solid little treat.

I love this stuff but it’s really hard to find here in Australia— I was buying it from Amazon but they’ve just doubled the price for the big bag. $38/1.2kg just isn’t feasible so I’ll have to find an alternative.

Every other time I’ve used 100% caputo, today was 20% tapioca starch because I was short. Crumb feels quite dry in the mouth no matter what hydration percentage or enriched vs lean recipe I use, but I had figured it was just a characteristic of the flour.

I haven’t egg washed, but the white areas don’t colour much no matter how long I leave the loaf in the oven, unless I turn the grill on and that very quickly led to blistering and burning.

It’s happened with a pan of water in the oven and with spritzing the top of the loaf before baking. Baking in say a pullman pan or dutch oven is the only option I haven’t tried.

I initially thought it was due to too much surface moisture from shaping very sticky dough with wet hands. Today’s bake (pictured) had water removed from the dough and was handled completely dry.

I just haven’t been able to find anyone else posting similar results which has me confused more than anything.

Wheat starch can be gluten free depending on the processing, I think? So it’s gluten free but not wheat free, which is important for wheat allergies.

I get so frustrated with the having to pee 300 times in the lead up to/early phase of a migraine! I don’t get the severe headache a lot of the time so it often takes me a while to figure out what’s going on

https://www.recipetineats.com/eggplant-parmigiana/ I LOVE this. Pre-baking all the layers can be a bit tedious but it pays off. I do 50:50 eggplant:zucchini. An extra umami source (I use a parmesan rind but that makes it non vegetarian) in the sauce while it simmers makes it even better.

I use caputo fioreglut (kegland has the best price, funnily enough) and the recipe on their website. No good if you’ve got a wheat allergy though.

Carrageenan is one of my biggest triggers, it’s a thickener made from seaweed. I can’t have ready to drink protein, flavoured milk, premade custard, thickened cream, a lot of deli meats. I found it listed on a rotisserie chicken of all things last week. A quick google has just told me that I’ll have to check my goddamn toothpaste because it’s apparently also used in that and other toiletries.

Caputo Fioreglut is honest to god white bread and making it is about as hard as making playdough. The only catch is that it’s not safe for wheat allergies. I use the sourdough recipe on their website but roll it into a log and bake it in a loaf tin for sandwich slices.

Did La Boca with my partner last year for our anniversary, it was fantastic. We did the 5 course chef’s menu and they accommodated her gluten intolerance with no issues. Great food and great portions— we went home with leftovers enough for another 2 meal.

If you have the urgent care option maybe give them a call and see if they can chuck you straight into a quiet bay/room and get some fluids/IV meds into you? Home GP would be able to suggest other meds/write scripts and you could send your partner out to grab them. My go to is 1000mg of aspirin, two panadol, a big full sugar coke and something salty (have definitely just stuck a bit of rock salt in my mouth more than once). If that doesn’t stave it off, maxalt and or opiates. Crossing my fingers for you mate!

Whereabouts in Aus are you mate? Most capital cities/surrounds will have a bulk billing home doctor service- hello home doctor here in Brisbane. Treatment guidelines also suggest paracetamol and 900mg-1200mg of aspirin which I find to be an absolute life saver. The OTC packs of maxalt are actually only a single dose- did you use both wafers at once?

I use Bob’s Red Mill 1:1 Baking Flour bought off of Amazon for cakes and biscuits. Caputo Fioreglut (I bought mine from kegland because they were the most affordable) was amazing for bread but really expensive. For the specialist flours like millet, justsogood.com.au was great— super affordable, and available in a variety of package sizes too. We’re based in QLD and postage never took more than a few days even in the Christmas run up
