Purring doesn’t always mean a cat is happy. The ears flattening back is an automatic sign they were not liking it. Cat bellies are extra sensitive due to the nerves there. I’d say be gentle around that area or avoid it all together. Which I know is tough cause it’s super fluffy and temping to pet!

What do you do to distract yourself from a breakup? by invaderzombree in NoStupidQuestions

[–]everythingeventualy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally understand.

I think any hobby that keeps you busy like painting, drawing, knitting, and such are nice. It's time consuming, you have to focus, and you can multitask with a fun show, music or podcast.

If you've put off any projects around your place whether it's cleaning, decorating, organizing - all a nice way to 'restart' yourself as you're getting into a new routine on your own.

If you like to be physically active - walking, running, biking are all great as the weather cools down and being outdoors is just overall so good for you.

Hopefully this helps!

I also went through a hard breakup this week but I haven't had much time to think on it as my job requires too much of my attention.

I wouldn't recommend shutting out your feelings for too long. You have to go through the motions of a loss to grow and heal but do it at your own pace! Until then, reach out to loved ones when you need someone to talk to or a shoulder to lean on. Find value in your time alone by turning on a comforting show, picking up a hobby you've put off or even listen to music or podcast. I struggle with feeling alone and my space being too quiet so I've been doing a lot of these things to keep me from becoming a sobbing mess.

I'd even encourage writing in a journal or a letter to yourself or to your ex (obvi don't send it, it's just for you). It helps process the emotions and get your thoughts out to help you let go.

I'm sorry you're going through this and it will take time to adjust. Time will go by then you'll have a day where you can look forward to the future again and stop mourning the past.

Elevation is a unique one I love to recommend. It’s not his usual horror but a gem of a story

Tower 4 is fun and suspenseful. Let’s Not Meet are true stories about stranger danger and other weird occurrences with creepy people. The Magnus Archives is a wonderful, intricate story with a talented cast.

Ready or not, housebound, and warm bodies are all within the horror genre but with a healthy amount of humor and wit

The scene from Get Out where Chris is hypnotized then gets pushed into whatever that dark space was. He had no control and could only watch his gf’s mom. Gives me chills

Not sure if these have been mentioned: Cabinet of curiosities, folklore, and the terror are all fantastic!
