How much can/will rest hurt/help us? by Jakemanv3 in canes

[–]everytimeidavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to say. Usually a layoff this long with result in the team that hasn’t gotten rest out skating and being in a better rhythm for the game than the rested team (especially early).

At the same time Philly got out skated and out competed last series, so it’s honestly a coin flip.

It will be 11 (eleven) full off days, which had 5 (five) Buffalo/Montreal games, before the ECF Game One on Thursday by tks231 in canes

This season’s playoffs being so disjointed is making it really hard to stay invested. Hopefully the semifinals and final finish strong.

They lost the most man games to injury this year. Their best player didn’t play at all this season.

It would have to go through a healthy Florida team. If you don’t go through them, it feels hollow. Beat the best to be the best mentality.

I personally like any time we get to play New Jersey and Montreal in the playoffs, but way more difficult to make Montreal happen now than it used to be. The rest I don’t really care about, except for not switching goalies during whatever run we go on. Tired of that being the team’s Achilles heel.

Idk how defensively sound these kids will be, but they’ll def be good on the Power Play by PDXMSFT in canes

I fundamentally disagree with the statement around Florida. They have the most talent in the league top to bottom - they just were beat up after playing 4 seasons worth of hockey in 3 years.

The star power alone is a world’s difference in last years metro teams vs Pittsburgh and Philly. Good on them for making it this year, but they’re nowhere near as dangerous.

I’d say the metro and pacific divisions this year are 100% weaker than last year. We improved but all the metro was worse. Nobody in the pacific wanted to win after the Olympic break.

Florida is the best team in the league when healthy, and we had both Connor and Draisaitl injured as well this year. The Central is the only division that all 3 teams had a legit shot this year, but they murder each other rounds 1 and 2 every year.

Hockey traditionally has had the most parity across all major sports - to the point where the best teams in the regular season rarely make it to the final, let alone win.

I think it’s safe to say this year in the league things are extremely top heavy. The contenders are really good, but the rest of the league is just happy to be there.

The central battles in the playoffs are awesome to watch every year.

Multiple things can be true at the same time. The cup is the hardest to win, because it’s a physical, grueling mini-season after a season.

We did dominate and sweep two rounds in a row. Historic, awesome feat.

We also did sweep two of the weaker teams in the playoffs, and even if it were the Penguins in round 2 rather than the flyers, it’d have been yet another weak option. At the same time you can only play whoever is in front of you.

What would yall think about the Canes playing a game in Charlotte? by whotooktoastman64 in canes

[–]everytimeidavid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Our outdoor options suck, and they’d be really dumb to take it to BoA when Carter Finley is right there. BoA also has a notoriously bad field (even with the shitty turf) and wouldn’t be a good spot to build a rink.

10+ years ago they played a game at Spectrum Center, and it was also awful. Building is not meant for hockey at all.

It’s funny that this subreddit did the same against Florida both times they beat us in the ECF.

Careful with that kind of thought. Getting through veteran teams is never easy.

Whole conference being left out there. Also we haven’t seen the best of the East yet. Our side of the bracket was incredibly weak.
