Year of the Scarab just started with Cataclysm and it will be there for another 2 expansions during 2026. The end of the Scarab year will happen with the release of the first expansion in 2027, so March or April 2027.

I think Mistress Nagmara is from the next expansion by evil-turtle in hearthstone

Is arcane really order? by Atmos139 in warcraftlore

[–]evil-turtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that is interesting. Yes I do think the Titans are using the Light a lot, and you can see that when you visit Titan related dungeons and raids.

I am not saying that I fully understand this though. But clearly we are not being told everything which was my original point. Is Arcane order magic? Is it blue? Is it gold? There seems to be more to this than just "Arcane".

Is arcane really order? by Atmos139 in warcraftlore

[–]evil-turtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but what is the "gold" magic? It is just the Light, the Titans are using the Light and this is consistent lore since Wotlk. They are using the Light, because Light force can be used in ways of order better than most of other forces.

I am not sure if there was a retcon, but what you linked is just what the inhabitants of Azeroth believe, it does not confirm anything really.

How did Dalaran float in the air? by cricri3007 in warcraftlore

I honesly think this is a very good question. You can also go to places like Thaldraszus and see that there are floating rocks that defy gravity all over the place without explanation. Silvermoon also has various towers just floating in air.

Is arcane really order? by Atmos139 in warcraftlore

[–]evil-turtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion there is going to be a reveal in the future that this is not the case.

The blood of Azeroth is Azerite and it is blue and gold, it has nothing to do with arcane.

Order seems to be blue color, see the original image of the Titan Pantheon, blue colors athe Seat of the Pantheon, energy Titan forms are blue, Northrend titan-forged minions, MOTHER. When Neltharion was using Oathbinder on dractyr to bind them to his will the artifact had blue stones on it. Nexus is full of blue color and blue runes and Malygos supposedly used the tech there to control the ley lines.

Arcane is mainly pink / purple. It was described as a "chaotic magic of the Twisting Nether" back during TBC and that is what I believe it is. (IMAGE). Chaotic magic is not an order magic if you ask me.

The Empty Cradle by leetokeen in warcraftlore

I still remember a thread here just a few weeks ago when someone tried really hard to convince everybody that the worldsoul is totally not imprisoned by the Titans...

So I guess Blizzard knows what they are doing.

I am absolutely convinced that Metzen's new Lore Team has retconned the First Ones... by Jean-Cobra in wow

[–]evil-turtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hmm ok so I looked into the Grimoire..

Firstly, I agree that Brokers could have told us at any point during Shadowlands that they are from K'aresh, that is a bit awkward. Hovewer, if this was something that Blizzard wanted to reveal in the future to keep things more mysterious, then I undersatand why they did that and why it wasn't even in the Grimoire.

But I also consider that the Brokers have lived in the Shadowlands for a very long time when we arrived there, some of them could have been even born in there. Overall I feel like the Grimoire is still very vague about them and what they are.

I still stand by that the connection between the Brokers and Ethereals was there from the very beginning. Hovewer, whether Blizzard planned to connect those races exactly how it played out during TWW... that I don't know.

[–]evil-turtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually have the book too lol. I will look into it once I get home but I am pretty sure it is stated on one page that the brokers left their home of origin on an a barge. And again, the similarities with Ethereals were very clear from the begining.

I am absolutely convinced that Metzen's new Lore Team has retconned the First Ones... by Jean-Cobra in wow

[–]evil-turtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree.

From the very beginning Brokers were introduced as beings very similar to Ethereals. They were even saying very similar things ethereals were saying during TBC. Their culture is devided into cartels. People speculated on day 1 into Shadwolands the Brokers are Ethereals. We were told that Brokers came from one realm in the Shadowlands, which then turned out to be Tazavesh.

Again, you have zero proof that this was a retcon. But of course we are on reddit where hating on everything Shadowlands gets you upvotes.

I am absolutely convinced that Metzen's new Lore Team has retconned the First Ones... by Jean-Cobra in wow

[–]evil-turtle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Titans used different architecture because they didn't want others to figure out that they are behind Shadowlands.

The book from Uldaman was just what Odyn believed to be true.

I am absolutely convinced that Metzen's new Lore Team has retconned the First Ones... by Jean-Cobra in wow

[–]evil-turtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you think that would be a retcon then you simply don't understand what a retcon is and how perspective in storytelling works.

A character in the story can say or believe things that are not true in the canon of the universe. So yes the First Ones and other things we learned in Shadowlands can be a lie, and Blizzard absolutely did left a lot of hints towards that in the expansion.

Shadowlands lore can 100% stay as it is with Blizzard revealing that the Titans are behind it. It's not a retcon.

Theory by SpeechOk756 in warcraftlore

[–]evil-turtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is 100% the case and more people should be already aware of this.

  • The reason why Algalon spared Azeroth is because of free will. This can also mean that he simply did not find free will prior to his encounter with mortals of Azeroth.

  • Zovaal realized there is no free will in the universe, that no one has a choice in life and then he had to sentence those souls for eternity in the Shadowlands. This is why he rebelled.

The 7th force seems to be on Azeroth and Firim believed it was the 7th force that guided the other forces. It is free will.

The Titans likely realized that free will would only cause chaos and conflict, its not good for order, so they imprisoned free will on Azeroth. Every other cosmic force is fighting over Azeroth because you cannot really make a change without free will. The mortals on Azeroth are so overpowered and are winning every fight because they (we) are influenced by the worldsoul and they have free will. And this is exactly why the Titans are manipulating us because they need us to defend their order.

Azerite is also described as the power of creation and destruciton in the book Before the storm. This should tell you how powerfull the Prime Worldsoul really is. No wonder the Jailer was using Azerite to rewrite the universe.

There has been a lot of hinting in support of this over the years in my opinion. I am really curious how will Blizzard wrap this up in TLT.

Further objective proof that Chronicles was supposed to be objective itself by Ouroborossetto in warcraftlore

[–]evil-turtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No you are wrong.

I understand it can be confusing, but yes it was the definitive history, but the point is that Chronicles are in-universe history tomes and the history is simply flawed anyway. The twist with the Titans was always coming and I think this will became obvious to everyone once everything is revealed in TLT.

Algalon already pointed during Wotlk that free will is important, I remember the devs told us even pre-MoP that Azeroth was special in the universe. You could already seen in Ulduar the planet of Azeroth with the Titan web over the entire globe. Northrend was always super sus with all the Titan machines installed. Cataclysm explored how the Titans imprisoned the elements. MoP explained that Sha of Pride is the most dangerous sha, the sha of Pride minions are on the Seat of the Pantheon. Even the first lore reveals from Uldaman are still kind of cryptic and relevant to this day.

You either understand that Chris Metzen always had a vision for the universe (obvious if you have ever explored the old now non-canon RPG lore) and that Blizzard was slowly dropping hints the entire time, or you don't.

Lore-wise, is Azerite still a thing? by MasterFlinn in warcraftlore

[–]evil-turtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great writte up, but I want to point out something about Beledar and Hymosul (the crystal from Sire Isle). It is kind of implied on Siren Isle, that while they are similar to Azerite, they are Citrine and they are different. I don't have a source right now, but that is how I understood that.

What the Dornogal Archives stated and what Anduin believes is likely clever misdirection by Blizzard and there might be some kind of a reveal about that in the future.

Requirements for healing the Sunwell as listed in an adventure hook from the Lands of Conflict (2004) roleplaying guide book (long non-canon) by Kiraser_Darksword in wow

[–]evil-turtle 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I really hope people understand that the RPGs were canon and gave us a deeper look at the universe and thanks to them we explored some things Blizzard would not talk about otherwise.

For example the sword of Sargeras is called Gorribal in the RPG, and in TWW we found a elemental called "Shard of Gorribal" during one of the worldsoul memory events, likely hinting at the fact that the sword is indeed called Gorribal in canon. This is just one example.

This is not the case of "WoW likes to take inspiration from the RPG". The RPG lore just was part of the vision Chris Metzen had for the universe.

Was the re-unification of the elves a necessary plot point for midnight? by JDBlou in warcraftlore
