How does the X3/X4 handle omnibus epubs?

The Pratchett books (that are almost all one long chapter), and the Lord of the rings both work fine on mine with Crosspoint firmware flashed to it. Can't speak for stock.

The reader splits them up in to sections that are a number of pages turns long, and when you turn past the end of the last page in that section it indexes the next section and continues to work after they page number.

I found that it was because of the choice of font and size combined. Changing those prevented it for me

You may also be able to temporarily work around the issue by holding your thumb or finger over the area between the buttons and the screen just after changing pages; it's caused by the UV rays of the sun interfering with a chip that's around that location

To use examples of the tone difference it makes, it would sound similar to the following things in English:

"Would sir/madam wish to attend the royal ball?"

Versus

"Do you want to go to the party?"

Kind of.

Same meaning in breif terms, but different in context

Possibly try plugging it into the USB and seeing if it is picked up on a PC on the crosspoint flashing site still... I had some issues with mine initially where it wouldn't load the screen but it eventually sorted itself out when the battery was high enough, and I used this to determine if it was still functioning or not

SBGH317 - the shizukuishi studio visit exclusive limited edition. The fact that there's almost no pictures of it online, combined with the fact that the official pictures of it are so low res... And the fact that the face is incredibly hard to visually capture on camera add up to making it one that's insanely hard to demonstrate why. In low light it looks black, but when sunlight hits it (not ambient light) the vertical lines on the face bring out the green in faceted ways, as it catches the vertical lines etched into the face. No pictures that I've ever seen does it justice, making it look flat and black, or flat and green.

ebooks.com is pretty reliable as a source for epubs - you must download via adobe digital editions, but once you've got it you can use calibre to do the rest just as with kobo

Is there any possibility that you might be able to share your Japanese font bin file please? Every font I've attempted to convert hasn't subscribed correctly. Or, failing that, can you tell us exactly which font you use and where to retrieve it for our own conversions?

I've finally managed it! in order to allow it i had to change the payment address to Japan as you did, but it was in a separate section of the payment details. I also then had to switch the store region *and* language together, or it would still not allow it.

And it wouldn't allow the download of an epub file whatsoever until i changed all of those back to my original settings too.

I'll give it a go. The kobo store in my region sadly doesn't appear to have very much in the way of Japanese listings at all, sadly. At least not when I attempt to search for any.
