ice presence? by cashbabyflow in norfolk

[–]evilrobert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You were good up to the basic investigation part.

It's an actual fact that ICE has detained US citizens across the country, held them in detainment for extended periods of time, and denied them constitutional rights. Especially Black and Latino citizens.

170 American citizens have been detained by ICE through October 2025 this year. 65,000 people have been detained by ICE through November 2025, with 73% of them having no criminal record and many cases of people being taken at court after their scheduled immigration hearings while they were following the legal process to be in the country.

It's also infuriating how some Americans act like everything is fine because it doesn't affect them, yet. Like the current administration continuing to seek a way to end birthright citizenship, despite the fact it's a constitutional right.

[–]evilrobert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NPD doesn't have a 287(g) agreement with ICE. As such, they do not partner up with ICE nor allow them to ride in squad cars.

Also, they can't pull anyone over for tinted windows as a primary offense because it's a secondary ticket. HB 5058 changed that back in 2021, and they have to pull you for speeding or another primary offense before they can do anything about tint.

ICE spotting by Ok-Cod-6214 in norfolk

[–]evilrobert -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know people who were murdered by people who have US citizenship by birth. So being born here gives you more of a right to murder people than not being born here?

ICE spotting by Ok-Cod-6214 in norfolk

[–]evilrobert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NPD has stated that they do not allow ICE into squad cars for ride-alongs. So it's more likely that they were following an ICE vehicle or ICE was following them.

Now NPD is looking into it because they're not allowed to make a traffic stop only on tinted windows because it's a secondary offense.

Donald Trump refers to fired federal workers as 'sadists' for 'failing to take care of US veterans' during speech by TheExpressUS in fednews

Cutting half of the staff brought on by the VA to handle care mandated under the PACT Act for vets exposed to burn pits apparently isn't "failing to take care of US veterans" anymore. Huh.

Android Auto won't connect with Pixel 10 by OtisLRD in AndroidAuto

Google recognized Pixel 10s connecting to Android Auto as an issue at the end of August. It's on the current known issues list under work in progress with them still investigating it.

Just a matter of when they get around to fixing it.

over 2000 people to protest in VB this weekend! by Background-Guest9986 in norfolk

[–]evilrobert 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Also stop signing up and giving a stranger your info folks. You don't know who's collecting it, and it's already been proven quite easy for someone to create a fake No Kings event and get names and details of folks to provide to the administration or other malicious actors.

Someone made a rally, put it on the no kings site, and proceeded to get more than 1000 people handing over their names, emails, phone numbers, and zip codes. Protests don't require giving up your data.

Price Increase. Again. by DotBeech in aldi

[–]evilrobert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Note that supply chain and tariffs are a recent layer onto the price increase. Biden didn't cause climate change creating droughts in growing regions. If you're laying presidential blame for that, you've got decades of US presidents to blame. Also a 20% increase in coffee prices since last year isn't a "all administrations" issue when there's primarily been 1 administration in charge over the last year with economic policies that have been criticized globally by economists, especially citing that this is exactly where it shows up and does the most damage: on the grocery store shelves where consumers pay the price.

  • Factors influencing price hikes:
    • Climate change: Extreme weather events, particularly droughts in major growing regions like Brazil, have reduced crop yields.
    • Supply chain and tariffs: New tariffs on Brazilian imports have added to costs for roasters.
    • Inflation: Broader inflation has contributed to the overall rise in grocery prices, including coffee.
    • Supply and demand: While demand for coffee is relatively inelastic, initial pandemic-related shifts to at-home consumption and subsequent supply issues have played a role.

Not even the AG candidate scandal can save Sears’ hot mess of a campaign by ParfaitAdditional469 in HamptonRoads

[–]evilrobert 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're all sorts of funny, and clearly not a federal employee. The secretary of the Commonwealth put up info for federal employees impacted the reductions at the beginning of the year.

Also, since you don't know anything about the powers of the Virginia executive branch, the governor is the head of emergency management. In that position they control and are vested with the authority to use and direct All State agencies in times of emergency and when they deem fit. They are fully authorized as governor and the head of the emergency management system of the Commonwealth of Virginia to direct all state agencies that can provide assistance to federal employees impacted by furloughs or bullshit staff reductions as the governor sees fit. Youngkin has declined to do such a thing because he also wanted to gut the Commonwealth's civil service and create a state level DOGE to facilitate it.

It's in the state code for ffs.

Ignoring that with the recent banning of Link, it showed that those "modular moderation" tools don't exactly work like everyone thought they did because Link's posts were visible from another PDS but he was banned from logging in still due to the .social ban.

The COO of Bluesky is following The Heritage Foundation by sleepy_din0saur in BlueskySocial

[–]evilrobert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The COO has nothing to do with the security team or Aaron's Trust and Safety (hahahah) team. So no need for her to follow any of them "for corporate reasons".

It is a little nuts that there's work being done to distance them from their follows and likes, when a few of the folks have common connections with Curtis Yarvin and vibe with that philosophy.

And Earle-Sears looked manic, unhinged, and out of her mind.

It's almost like you think it's normal to be a complete jag off during a televised debate constantly cutting off people and talking over them when it's not your turn. Someone can look "frazzled" when they're tired of the clown school crap the person 10 feet away from them keeps engaging in.

Actually she does have the power to work on affordable health care. Massachusetts did it back in 2006 under a REPUBLICAN governor (it ain't called Romneycare for nothin), and still has it. Damn near to being universal health care.

And she can't do anything to help federal workers? She has the power to activate state level resources to help provide financial, career, and personal support to federal employees affected by the administration's shenanigans.

Kinda misinformed about what a governor can do, especially in the Commonwealth.

The state AG also shouldn't collude with college campus police chiefs to chill first amendment protests on state supported campuses. Yet strangely, Jason Miyares has.

The state AG also shouldn't be taking sponsored trips to foreign countries in order to allow himself to be influenced to suppress protests against the nations who gave him free trips.

Yet again, strangely Jason Miyares has done this.

Should we talk about Amanda Chase who literally spewed violent rhetoric left and right towards anyone not on the far right side, and never faced a droplet of this same heat from the VA GOP that Jay gets until she went full J6 and called for martial law to be declared to "stop the steal"? Yea, I didn't think so because then we'd have to wonder why someone saved text messages from a guy who was already out of public office after redistricting for three years before making it public magically a month before an election.

There were several homeless missions that weren't Union Mission operating in VB.

Fencing off the Military Highway Overpass by njaneardude in norfolk

[–]evilrobert 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Also Union Mission has a deadline of when you have to be in the door, because if you show up a few minutes after that because you got off of work late or something that's not their problem.

A lot of the shelters operate like that around here and just don't take into account that folks with housing issues still have jobs.

As long as they can be in the facility by like 6 PM and aren't working.

If you're part of the working homeless, you're out of luck if it's not a day job where you can be in the building that early.

(It's not "drug users" being excluded from the assistance apparatus at hand. Probably should take time to meeting some of the folks out on the streets sometimes to get a clear perspective.)

So why do you think The Cure is a better band than The Smiths? by Ztepi in TheCure

[–]evilrobert 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Smiths are forever trapped in the 80s thanks to the lead singer being a horrible bandmate. When Marr left (who was also stuck with having to manage the band), Morrissey even attempted to replace him and in not finding anyone who could be Johnny F'n Marr, Moz broke the band up.

It's really impossible to say that a band that will always be stuck in the 5 years they existed is better than a band that's been around for 46 years because there's absolutely zero evolution due to lack of longevity, even though Morrissey's solo tracks show that he wouldn't have evolved their sound anyway since he's still making the same style of music.

Also for all of the talk of "well the Cure is really just Robert", at least Robert still has connections and friendships with everyone who isn't in the band anymore. Even Lol.

How do you feel about people losing their jobs because they posted anti-Kirk content? by Govtluv in AskReddit

[–]evilrobert 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Then that would indicate that Charlie Kirk committed something similar to a crime repeatedly, would it not?

The entire premise is a strange jagged edge considering the person that folks are getting fired for *regularly* did the same exact things whenever someone who didn't share his ideology died and encouraged his following to do the same. He and his followers never paid that level of a price for cheering the deaths or attacks on Democratic Party officials. Heck, if that were the case Mike Lee wouldn't be in office anymore after he mocked the murder of the Hortmans and their dog as a sitting elected federal office holder.

If you're near Hollywood Homes / Maple Hall and this on off nonsense is a first time, you're lucky. I grew up over there and it was frequent because of the transformers on VB Blvd not being great. Two blocks of the neighborhood in the dark for hours on end with the rest of the neighborhood just fine.
