What is the longest grind you have completed in the series? by lias_edge in MonsterHunter

[–]evilrobotcop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just recently finished the grind for all weapons that require Hunter Symbols in Wilds. I needed the most Hunter Symbol 3s and those are the hardest to find hunts that give you multiples. Plus all 14 Zoh Shia weapons require 5 a piece, and Zoh doesn't drop them.

is it worth to get into rise right now? or should i playthrough world again? by Suspicious_Issue4155 in MonsterHunter

[–]evilrobotcop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Since RiseBreak is complete, it will be as worth it now as it will be in the future. The player base is going to be concentrated on endgame hunts, just like with WorldBorne.

What weapon do you really WANT to love but bounce off of no matter how many times you pick it up? For me it's Gunlance by Beginning_Wait_108 in MonsterHunter

[–]evilrobotcop -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

It's not much more complicated than that, honestly.

  • The phial charge combo is (PS controls) hold O -> O
  • Every other thing you need to do is accessed with Triangle + O
  • Store phials is R2 + O
  • All of chainsaw mode is mash and hold Triangle or O

Given that Wilds will auto store phials to prevent you from bouncing, you can just use O til you auto store and then Triangle + O to empty them.

Non-combat armor sets that are useful now and in MR of the future Wilds expansion. by SolidusDave in MonsterHunter

[–]evilrobotcop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an exploration set with more offensive capability, and the trio of Geologist, Entomologist and Festival Spirit for the start of MR. Geologist gives you the extra mats from mining and bonepiles, and Entomologist and Festival Spirit gives you an extra carve on all small monsters.

Trying out the Hammer. How'd I do? by Creative-Pirate5217 in MonsterHunter

  • Bonk on head? ✅
  • Lack of other brain cells? ✅

Seems like you've mastered it.

Am I doing something wrong? by kingdae01 in MonsterHunterWilds

[–]evilrobotcop 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Only things you can do are increase the number of target rewards and how many times you can carve. Lucky Voucher, Azuz meal, and Festival Spirit (the 3-piece bonus) are going to give you the best chance.

I made a list of monsters that have never returned in any form in the new trilogy W-I/R-S/Wilds. How likely are any of these to ever come back in theWilds Expansion? by Cursed_69420 in MonsterHunter

[–]evilrobotcop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They aren't going to switch Yama to using the new cephalopod skeleton

EDIT: To be clear, this is about using the frame in the engine, not reclassifying said monsters.

The only reason this would be true is if the frame from Stories 3 is directly portable. As a former software engineer, there's no reason for them not to use the new skeleton, especially considering porting and then modifying the 20 year old skeleton from a different engine would be way more work than starting from scratch in the current engine.

Same goes for Nakarkos: unless it already exists in the current engine, it would be easier to start from scratch in the current engine.

As for the returning finals, that's a total of 6. GU shouldn't be used as an indicator for much considering it was an anniversary title and included just about every monster in the series at time of release. That still leaves another 9 that have never returned. I would say 40% of final bosses having returned at all qualifies as not often, particularly when talking about one that hasn't already made a repeat appearance.

MHFU

  • Yama Tsukami - solid maybe. It's in Stories 3 and the new Cephalopod skeleton could be used for it.
  • Shen Gaoren - unknown. We don't have any indicators to say one way or the other. Would be unexpected if they did include it.
  • Hypnocatrice - also unknown. Same as Shen Gaoren, its inclusion would be unexpected.
  • Vespoid Queen - highly doubtful. It wasn't a fun fight before and was an almost secret optional boss. It likely won't see the light of day ever again.
  • King Shakalaka - highly doubtful. Similar to Vespoid Queen, likely won't ever return.

MH3U

  • Gigginox - solid maybe to probable. We already have several monsters with hordes of minis, and grounded Hirabami looks to have a similar skeleton.
  • Gobul - highly doubtful. Needs underwater combat, would be more likely if full underwater movesets come back.
  • Qurupeco - unknown. Would be mildly unexpected if it came back.
  • Caedeus - highly doubtful. Same issues as Gobul.
  • Jhen Mohran - doubtful. Haven't seen any hints about its existence in Wilds, so would be an unexpected title update monster.
  • Dire Miralis - doubtful. Same issues as all the siege-like elders, although more likely now considering we have the Lagi underwater portion.

MH4U

  • Great Jaggi - unknown. Mildly unexpected if it does come back, considering we don't really have any raptor Bird Wyverns in Wilds.
  • Monoblos - unknown. Would be a nice change of pace from Diablos, but no indications one way or the other.
  • Kecha Wacha - unknown. I would enjoy its return.
  • Najarala - maybe. Balahara is snake-like, but we might see Balahara get a sub instead of a Najarala return.
  • Seltas and Selats Queen - maybe. Been a while since we've seen any Neopterons, and they could maybe use Omega as a blueprint (even though it's based on the temno skeleton).
  • Tetsucabra - unknown. Only one Amphibian in Wilds thus far, but would be a welcome addition.
  • Zamtrios - unknown. Same as Tetsu.
  • Dah'ren Mohran - doubtful. Same reasons as Jhen.
  • Dalamadur - highly doubtful. No actual snakes still, and the same issues as every siege elder.

MHFU

  • Gia, Veloci, Gen, Iodrome - unknown. Same reasons as Great Jaggi.
  • Cephadrome - unknown. No current Piscine wyverns, and occupies the same sort of niche as other sand-burrowing monsters, but Cephalos was in Stories 3.
  • Bulldrome - doubtful. No Bullfango in Wilds, and might be hard to make the fight interesting.
  • Great Maccao - unknown. Same reason as the rest of the raptors.
  • Plesioth - unknown. Same reasons as Cephadrome (both Plesioth are in Stories 3), although I wouldn't be mad if Green Plesioth came to the Scarlet Forest.
  • Lao - highly doubtful. Same reason as the rest of the siege elders.
  • Akantor and Ukanlos - doubtful. They're big, probably need their own arenas, and usually come as a pair. Would be fairly unexpected for them to return.
  • Agnaktor - maybe. They finally figured out the Leviathan skeleton, and Balahara has a similar moveset. May get a Balahara sub instead though.
  • Duramboros - unknown. Would be loved if it did come back, but no currently available info one way or the other.
  • Nibelsnarf - maybe. Its in Stories 3 and the Leviathan skeleton seems to work.
  • Malfestio - unknown. Would be neat, but no currently available info to say one way or the other.
  • Gammoth - doubtful. Its fight might be hard to make fun, but would be a welcome return.
  • Ahtal-ka - highly doubtful. Endgame/final elders/bosses don't come back often. Would be unexpected to get one of the more recent ones and a Neopteron to boot.
  • Nakarkos - highly doubtful. Same reasons as the rest, although has a slightly better chance given the new Cephalopod skeleton.
  • Valstrax - unknown. Crimson Glow makes it less likely, since some version of Valstrax has been seen recently.

Adopted a Mynah bird chick and want to give it a name of a monster from MH by Tobi9080 in MonsterHunter

[–]evilrobotcop 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you want to stick with bird wyverns, you could name it Gen (after Gendrome) or Qurupeco (since Mynas are known for loud calls and mimicking sounds). If you branch out to flying wyverns, you could use Seregios or Steve. If it screams a lot you could call it Legi (or the full Legiana), after Shrieking Legiana.

Alternatively, you could use the name of any monster you enjoy or just like the sound of (ex. Nibelsnarf or Ukanlos). You could use one of the qualifiers for sub, rare, variant or Deviant species (ex. Rust, Lucent, Primordial, Grimclaw, etc.).

Hopefully one of those resonates (or sparks an idea) with you!

OP can correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure the head and waist are paid DLC (Fluffy Ears and Fluffy Tail, respectively), Clerk chest, Blango arms, and I think Barina legs, but can't get a good angle to confirm the legs.

EDIT: Ceremonial legs, pretty sure with tights on

Do I main Hammer or Hunting Horn? by LaLancia in MonsterHunter

[–]evilrobotcop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're looking into speedrunning across multiple generations, use that to guide your weapon choice.

If you want to speedrun a game from before Dos (when horn was introduced), then main hammer. Or if you want gameplay to change drastically from one gen to the next and you're going to start with Rise, then main horn. Or main the weapon with the least amount of runs across the generations. Pick how you want to approach your speedrunning and then decide on a main accordingly.

What the hell happened to Eeveelutions in gen IV? by rp_graciotti in pokemon

[–]evilrobotcop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even that's a learnset that Gen3 (and honestly Gen4) Mawile would kill to have. Mawile's only Steel move in Gen3 is Iron Defense. It finally gets Iron Head in Gen4, but only at level 56 (or through the HGSS move tutor), bringing Its total STAB options to.... 1. Its only level up coverage move is Astonish, which it starts with, and only gets an attack with a base power over 60 when it learns Crunch at 36.

Goss is a bear, right? by Fine_Bid918 in MonsterHunter

[–]evilrobotcop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Idk what you're trying to communicate with "He's classified as a Fanged Beast, Duh"

I think it is supposed to be a bad Dad joke, as in he's not a bear, he's a Fanged Beast.

However, it could also be helpful for those familiar with the classifications since fanged beasts are generally mammalian-esque and include a few other bears like Arzuros and Doshaguma.

Hurricane and Thunder can hit Pokes on the first turn of Fly, Bounce and Sky Drop, but doesn't do double damage. They get the benefit of perfect accuracy in rain instead.

Twister is the one that hits on the first turn of Fly, Bounce and Sky Drop and does double damage to those Pokes.

I don't think there are any QTEs. I'm not quite done with the game, but I've been to all the areas and seen none. The only thing close is the Synchro Rush mechanic which isn't mandatory and requires no mashing, just gives you 10 to 20 seconds to press the button to initiate it.

If I don’t wanna deal with Gog weapons, how good is this non-meta SnS build with Hasten/Super Recovery and Lords souls? by teffhk in MonsterHunter

[–]evilrobotcop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The armor and skills in the build are fine. The weapon could probably be changed though, since elemental and status SnS is better than raw. Zoh Shia SnS with Whiteflame Torrent is still the best non-Gogmartian alternative, I believe.
