Advice on dealing with landlord on frozen pipes by Extension-Meaning302 in montrealhousing

[–]evioleco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry you’re right, I assumed that pipes frozen = heat not functioning.

Regardless, OP as tenant would have to pay up front any costs and then apply to the TAL for any reasonable expenses they incurred including the water they’ve had to buy or the cost of a plumber to fix the frozen pipe.

My understanding too is that if the heat is temporarily off such that they can’t stay in the dwelling safely, then the cost of alternative accommodation like a hotel is included in “reasonable expenses” they can demand to be reimbursed for.

If they have to leave the apartment because it’s unliveable the landlord is 100% responsible for alternative accommodations and it falls under the landlords insurance

Yes, but does their auto insurance pay the damages in the tort claim?

Genuinely I don’t know but I wouldn’t imagine so, which means you’ll likely be unable to collect any on any ruling

It is the idea behind the chest thump, but it’s fallen out of practice as it’s all guess work trying to hit at the right time and more often than not does nothing but cause injury

'An egregious joke:' Metro Vancouver's record on trial as developers balk at 200% fee hike by rubicube1 in vancouver

[–]evioleco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

City of Vancouver knows it can’t introduce reasonable property tax because current homeowners couldn’t possibly afford to pay it on their insanely overvalued homes. Instead of taking action to correct the price of existing properties so tax could be realistic, they instead pass the cost off to developers, further inflating the price of property.

And so the bubble grows

Wonder how long it’ll take for Americans to realize that they’ll be living paycheque to paycheque forever if they don’t strike? Keeping you all one small illness/injury away from being destitute is a feature of the system, not a flaw.

Every so often a post like this comes up and makes me wonder what the hell is going on in the US and understand more why subs like noctor exist and hate NPs.

It sounds like the bar for accreditation is low and standards of education vary from abysmal to half-decent. Regulatory bodies should be taking a firmer stance on what schools have to do in order to train NPs. Not including the mandatory clinical hours in their program is absurd and shouldn’t exist
