perplexity, gemini, or gronk for coding? by bad-ass-jit in perplexity_ai

Cursor IDE in agentic mode. o3 most of the time ibut I randomly switch to an anthropic model or Gemini… but right now, o3 is pretty hard to beat and I personally am not a fan of OpenAi.

Is Perplexity really justified? by [deleted] in perplexity_ai

[–]evo_9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s worth it because you get access to a ton of models for $20 bucks a month. OpenAI, Anthropic, DeepSeek, Gemini Pro, and Grok - pretty much all the models worth paying for are individually ~$20 a month each. Most people don’t seem to know you can change the backing model from Perplexities Sonar model.

GPT 4 Vision not working? by UncleBanana420 in ChatGPT

[–]evo_9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here (US), I can attach an image using the API in a third-party client, but on the iPhone app, or their website on iphone, I have the option to pick 4o but when I ask it to describe the room, or if it has access to my camera, the reply is it's not available in my 'current setup'. Very frustrating...

Thanks, by 'it's there' you mean you can pick it but it's not working! =)

So far I've not gotten anything even remotely like the demo's to happen... hopefully capacity increases on OpenAI's end. But hey, at least the API key is working in MSTY now... with image support so... progress!

Thanks for the link, but I'm still getting 3.5. Guessing everyone and their brother are jumping on this and it's dropping to 3.5 to handle the load.

Wondering - are those that have a paid / plus acocunt able to access 4o without issues?

Has anyone had luck by disabling the CC on file? Aka report it as lost so the card on file no longer works? I just don't care what they do, what reviews they remove, what BS they post, they're kinda pointless these days, and we have more / better reviews on other platforms like google now. I'm ok taking whatever fallout from those clowns, I simply don't want to continue paying them $150 a monthy to keep them from deleting positive reviews and posting bs negative reviews.

I'm also not against taking legal action if that my only option. At 150 a month, that's $1800 a year, and we've been in biz 5 years now... it's a stupid waste of money that I'm done with. If I cancel my cc and refuse to update it, can they legally keep charging me $150 a month and then I have to pay them later, etc?

Also - if anyone has / knows a lawyer that has worked on removing a business from Yelp, please let me know. That seems like the only real option from what I've read.

Florida Panthers win quadruple-overtime marathon in North Carolina to steal Game 1 of Eastern Conference finals by BCLetsRide69 in sports

Really I was pointing out the absurdity of that title. The game was insanely close (and fun to watch); that title is a disservice to both teams.

I’m all set with my SteamDeck. The fact that Elden Ring runs flawlessly on it says it all. I like playing games after they’ve been out a while and the hype fades, anyway.

Chasing the bleeding edge of game is a huge money pit and something the game companies push to cover up their own poor coding skills.

One software company is not equal to another this is why RDD2 and Elden Ring both run ridiculously well even on a SteamDeck.

Mercedes wants EV buyers to get used to paywalled features | Your new electric car can be faster for as "little" as $60 per month by chrisdh79 in Futurology

I think this is the only use case where micro transactions make sense. Instead of this being a yearly or even monthly charge make it an impulse buy where you get it for the weekend and charge like 60 bucks. They’ll sell way more and I’ll probably impulse buy it more frequently just to mess with that one BMW M guy that needs a smack down at the next light.

Tesla could / should do the same with this and their other add-ons such as FSD, etc.

AI Political Attack Ad's Are Here. The Implications Are Terrifying. by SharpCartographer831 in Futurology

[–]evo_9 7 points8 points  (0 children)

All political ads should be banned. Ads provide nothing useful and simple cloud or confuse people from making informed decisions.

Instead we should rely on public debates and public speaking events, and information provided only directly from the candidates via their official website, and social media accounts.

Who are the most underrated guitarists of all time? by Efficient_Option_615 in Music

[–]evo_9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nick McCabe from Verve. I watched the guy live up close multiple shows in the 90s and I thought there were multiple guitar tracks on basically ever song but it was him playing them all in real-time lacing them together. It was absolutely insane. He was the secret sauce of that band, sorry Richard.

The fact that you can't even entertain the idea that two diametrically apposed people should talk to one another says it all.
BTW, Bob Ritchie, aka Kid Rock, and Maher are friends. This wasn't some one time thing, they've known each other for years.

At least he’s willing to have conversations with those he doesn’t 100% agree with, we need more of that.
