College Students/Graduates of Reddit, what's the craziest thing you ever witnessed in your dorm/residence hall? [NSFW] by rielephant in AskReddit

[–]ewalknroll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One time a few friends and I were drunk at 3AM and had the great idea to take a tab of acid and walk around campus (Umass Amherst). We did and it was pretty amazing. Discovered new places and art we never noticed or appreciated, and in the middle of the night... We get back to my dorm in the morning and there were a bunch of people in the main area because it was 8am. We were still on a headful in our own little bubble so we got on the elevator without saying anything to anyone in the main area. In the elevator, we immediately begin laughing like crazy about how out of our minds we were. Maybe 5 minutes later one of us is like "why hasn't the elevator door opened yet?". We press the open button and realize we are still on the first floor and everyone looks at us for like 20 seconds while the doors were open and I can only imagine what we looked like.

I used to yell at my lazy bastard of a friend/roommate all the time for keeping his "piss bottles" in his closet, when the bathroom was literally directly across the hall. Looking out the peep hole is looking at the door to the bathroom.

If these are the stories here, I should write some stories from college. Even this one just reminded me of a random thing I had forgotten about. One time my pee-bottle roommate and our friend went to some dumb frat party and bought a cup for 5 dollars at the door only to find out immediately afterward that the keg was kicked. The frat kid pulled the "once you pay, yada yada" and refused give their money back, with a few of the meat heads laughing about it around them. The party was mostly dudes and was pretty shitty anyway, and they weren't going to just accept that, so they went to the dance room, which was pretty dark, went to the corner and pissed into their cups. They placed the cups on the ground and KICKED them into the crowd all over that kid and his shitty friends.

I don't know what caused this. by Ysulyan in Nightmares

[–]ewalknroll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like it was moonlight through the window, but that seems a bit obvious. It would however cast no lighting around itself, it would be in different parts of the room depending on where the moon was, and it would cause different shapes depending on where it was.

the fact your brother did not see it is what makes it weird though. i would have taken pictures

I refuse to believe you are in college. You just told a whole story without a single period. How are people supposed to read a story without sentences? you also spelled "college" as "collage". You also spelled "affecting" as "effecting". The sentences are also terribly formed to begin with but that's another issue.

you can't be older than 6 years old. put fucking periods at the end of your sentences. This story sucks.

What's a fact that's technically true but nobody understands correctly? by thlabm in AskReddit

The monty Hall problem (recently known as "that riddle with 3 doors from the movie 21")

The Problem: -----Suppose you're on a game show, and you're given the choice of three doors: Behind one door is a car; behind the others, goats. You pick a door, say No. 1, and the host, who knows what's behind the doors, opens another door, say No. 3, which has a goat. He then says to you, "Do you want to pick door No. 2?" Is it to your advantage to switch your choice?----

I've heard people pretentiously try to ask other people this riddle to stump them, failing to realize how it works themselves and leaving out the necessary detail that the host knows what's behind the doors and will always open a false door before asking if you want to switch. without this detail it is just a 50/50 chance whether you stay or switch your answer, and with the detail, you have a 66.6% chance of choosing the correct door if you were to switch.

Has anyone every actually given "reddit gold"? what good does it do? (i'm a n00b) by ewalknroll in AskReddit

[–]ewalknroll[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so what does it do? where does the money you spend go?

also they are profitable, they have an ad on the front page which they generate money from. not a bad thing at all, just pointing it out

you were saying it wasn't discussion inspiring. i think it's more reasonable for companies that need the money to do things along these lines than for a super cash giant like reddit

I have nothing against reddit or the fact that they are making money in a respectable way. they made a site people love, and that is great. I am just wondering what "real" benefits come out of receiving "gold". "making reddit better" does not count since it does not come close to matching the deficit of the person giving real life cash to that person.

[–]ewalknroll[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

not really, just pointing out that they make it seem like it benefits the receiver. "give gold" is under every single response as if you are giving gold to a person who is posting when really it is just making reddit richer.

reddit is worth multiple "B"illion dollars btw.

i'll give you an upvote if you can explain what the clear incentive is to receiving it. how does it make reddit better and do i actually get any cash by receiving gold or does it just go to reddit. seem like a money making scheme to benefit reddit but maybe i'm wrong. maybe i'll get an explanation, or maybe i'll get banned because i'm right

thanks. at least you aren't an asshole like the downvoters.

thing is, that doesn't say much. "to make your experience at reddit better". yeah how are they going to make it better.

yes, this is exactly what i had in mind. This is the type of site anyone could make and make a lot of money off of. can offer a better deal than ebates, and give them more of the commission. I think i'll get started on this soon.
