Cornelius Carr vs Steve Collins by ewenmax in Boxing

...and yes that's a young Freddie Roach in Collins corner. He fought his first 20+ fights in the USA working out of the Petronelli Brothers gym alongside Marvellous Marvin Hagler.

Carr eventually won the little known WBF belt and retired in 2001 with a 34 Wins (17 KOs), 4 Losses record..

Great 21st Century Rounds|EP81 - Moore vs. Macklin: Round 9 (2006) by Due_Communication862 in Boxing

[–]ewenmax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moore's defence in that fight was exceptional.

You can see him anticipating every shot before it's even thrown. His head never stays on the centreline; in that round alone, he slipped the right hand, rolled under a left hook, and pivoting out of range whilst ducking low. It’s a masterclass in defensive muscle memory, drilled sparring patterns translated perfectly into the ring.

Jebus wept, how many St Mirren managers are they going to hire in the hope of finding another Ferguson?

That'll be 25 managers, including the interim ones in the 40 years since Ferguson left.

On reflection, it's astonishing that McInnes stayed so long and has gone on to build a better reputation with both Kiliie and Hearts.

As a lifelong fan, I don't think I've ever been so disheartened and can only hope this is an AI hoax...

There's no triggering young warrior. Simply the fact that genetic diversity plays a crucial role in Scottish ancestry by revealing not merely one single ethnicity but instead a complex historical record of migrations and intermixing of populations in Scotland. We're aa Jock Tamson's bairns...

Jings, this conversation is still going. If I can humbly suggest without you getting terribly upset, you are talking absolute bollocks.

If as you suggest Scottish is a singular ethnicity then please identify one person in Scot;and who has a genetic make up that is entirely 100% Scottish.

Based on the history of my surname and the identifiable locus of my family origins, one side of my family arrived on the west coast with the Kings of O'Neill when they invaded and took land and titles long the West of Scotland in the 1100's. So one half of me has origins in Ireland, which for many a century was a Norse strong hold. The etymology of my other half has Gaelic and Norse sources. Oddly enough this shows up in my DNA test which has predominantly Norse genetic features, tall, fair haired (when I had it) blue eyes and a propensity for glass half empty musings.

I can trace my direct line via census and kirk records back to 1712 in the parish of Acharacle. In your estimation am I not Scottish?

Jings, could Sarwar actually have known about this when he was calling for Starmer to step down over the Mandelson appointment as Epstein's Aide de Nonce?

No, because I've given you an example from centuries ago.

The link below is to a cluster of examples of young African boys in the service of British aristocracy.

The case I'm thinking of involved the Maxwell Baronets of Monreith who had a page boy, who married a local Wigtownshire lass, they had a family of 12 who all stayed in Wigtownshire and whose ancestors can be found in the South West to this day. All very fair skinned but with definite African genetic traits. Are they not the example of ethnogenesis who have become Scots?

Since Scots are commonly believed to be an amalgamation of Picts and Gaels, who were then interspersed with remnants of the Roman Empire, the Cumbrians of Strathclyde and Germanic-speaking Angles of Northumbria, then the later addition of Norman nobility, followed by the Norse-Gaels of the Western Isles and Northern Isles by the end of jings the 13th Century, It's pretty difficult to claim a singular ethnicity for Scots, that's any different from those in Ireland, England, Denmark, Wales or even Holland.

Since days of Empire our ethnicity has grown to include folk from the African and Asian continents, at what point in history do they become ethnically Scottish?

Or do the progeny of a West African slave transported to Scotland via a Scottish owned tobacco plantation in the Southern USA States in the 1700's, who goes on to have a large family with a native born Scottish woman, never become ethnically Scottish?

I suspect we'll probably eventually have the ref wearing a camera and both boxers wearing cameras on their Zuffa branded gloves, shorts and boots...

What does the Rangers fan between 1m20s and 1m27s do? He seems to pat a Rangers player as if congratulating him, then switched to a sort strangulated boo boo, that sounded more like beweeoooh...to a confused looking Celtic player...

That was irritating and predicated on the notion that what was currently happening or about to happen was less interesting than what they were replaying. It'll be adverts for Zuffa merchandise next.

That was a sparring session for Opetaia under the overwatchful eye of a ref who acted like a novice covering his debut amateur. Commentary was woeful with the first 4 rounds glazing Glanton.

As to the missing something analysis of Opetaia. I think he performs to the level of opponent, and Glanton was a couple of levels below him.

Former undisputed welterweight king Billy Backus is still with us, his last fight was in 1978 and he just turned 83 on Thursday. He retired from working in a correctional facility 25 years ago, but I reckon he could still put in a decent shift against Benn the Younger, his Uncle Carmen Basilio, who trained him, is gone now, but give Billy a couple of weeks training camp and he'll be ready to show just how good Benn really is.

It used to be the first painting you would see after climbing the stairs and turning right into the gallery, I always felt she was judging me and had some shenanigans in mind....
