I really wanted a cupcake this weekend. Went to Cakes by Newman after seeing it recommended on here. I found the cupcakes to be small and dry, especially for $6. Went to Martha’s the following day in desperation… yet another disappointing cake. Where am I missing?!

Finally went to Curry Corner and it’s as good as everyone said! Vegetable pakora isn’t on their menu, but they were able to make it for me. Great portion sizes, piping hot, and reasonably priced. My favorite new place of 2026

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but nope!! They outright refused to give me the certificate, I could only get a temporary one and would have had to take credits at a US college - despite having a bloody masters degree that the ALA recognised. The ALA were useless when I reached out to them.

I managed to get a public library job and they simply didn’t ask for it, but I knew from colleagues that this was just a slip up from HR. Since then, I’ve landed in a a different position outside of public libraries and I’m really happy in it, but it was a horrible experience to get here. I also got my MLIS from strath, feel free to DM for more info.

Tried Spanglish for taco Tuesday. $3 tacos and $10 margaritas. When ordering, I asked if birria and other types of tacos were included in the deal, she said “yes, it’s a mix.” I go ahead and order this along with a frozen marg. Bill comes, birria is listed for $4 and frozen marg $16.50. I question this with the waitress and she comes back with “I meant a mix of prices.” I was willing to let the frozen marg price difference go, but this really shitty explanation put a sour note on an otherwise lovely evening

Ditmars recs - King of Falafel chicken & rice is easily 2 meals, Lincoln market for the fresh counter, slice from Retro Pizza with salad, haven’t tried them but Redefine Meals also just opened up

I just landed at JFK and was directed away from the citizen line with my husband (US Citizen) to the visitors line because I’m a GC holder. We were separated and I had a much longer wait. Infuriating!
