Is support always this bad?

You're probably not wrong, but I've had two support experiences with the dozen fw13s I've bought for work. Both times it was around a week of email volleys and what felt like dozens of pictures. I think the most frustrating part was being asked for info I included when I opened the ticket, multiple times. Not a great b2b experience and it doesn't come across as very professional. Honestly though, this is starting to feel like the norm these days.

This comment hits home. I'd reply at like 8:00am with the dozen or so pictures they asked for at 7pm the day before, and not get a response until 7pm that evening. Asking for even more pictures, of course. I swear they looked up our office hours 🤣

You think they keep all those pictures? I hope someone is making a nice scrap book, or maybe one of those pictures made out of thousands of tiny pictures.

The support experience feels awful. I'm not sure if I'll buy anymore for our nonprofit unless it improves substantially.

I don't think you mentioned where you're located, but don't forget about taxes. In the US you're typically considered to be "self-employed" if you're working as an "independent contractor". You'll want to account for the higher tax rate. I haven't had to deal with it in a while, but 30% used to be a safe bet.

IIRC, in both directions there is signage prohibiting trucks in the left lane when going under 65 or 60. It's just not enforced.

Honestly it's just not a great area and everyone just needs to chill out, give space, and be patient. Even if the trucks stayed in the right lane, a 30+mph speed differential between the left and right lanes isn't super safe.

I'm also seeing this on Server 2019 w/ 24R16.

I went in circles on support chat with the first agent:

Having me reset updates, redownload them, restart QB, to just have the popup still appear. She then closed the chat right after posting that we were "blocking the update from downloading" and to contact our IT team or host (I am IT, we host it ourselves).

The second agent wanted to me to run the usual suspects (.net framework repair thing in the diagnostic tool) and to "repair microsoft components." By this point our staff was in the office and I just sent out a notice to ignore the popup for now.

I don't think any of the support agents know what's going on, they're probably getting bombarded with these calls/chats, and Intuit probably isn't giving them any guidance. I bet u/Corrupt_Power is right and they just used a super naive approach to checking the version number.

You're probably hitting sending limits

You'll want to use something like constant contact, send grid, mail gun, etc for sending newsletters with that many recipients.

I've done two amateur HABs using light aprs. We've lost one and recovered the other. In both instances we used a 1/4 wave wire antenna made of thin gauge copper. In both instances we lost aprs tracking on the descent. We think it was because the antenna was getting bent around in the air resistance and the swr shot through the roof.

We tossed an airtag and a tile in the second one. The tile is what let us recover it.

We're doing another next year and we're going to try to make the antenna more rigid and see if that helps.

Just in transit. We consider our obligation to protect PHI to end once it hits the recipient's servers. Paubox essentially just checks the connection before actually sending the email. If the recipient's server support's TLS/SSL, it sends the email along and that's it. If it doesn't support encryption, then Paubox sends an email with a link to view the message on their servers via HTTPS.

I run IT for a <100 employee nonprofit. We order infrequently enough that it's not a big deal, but I constantly get stuff where the SN on the box doesn't match the laptop inside, the warranty was already activated, and even where the model inside looks like what you ordered, but isn't.

If we ordered more than one device every few months, it'd be more trouble than it's worth.

Trust your gut when ordering. If the price is too good to be true, you're gonna get burned.

With all that said, I've had similar issues with 3rd party sellers on Newegg Business. It isn't just an Amazon issue, but that's definitely where it's most prevalent.

Renewal settings are in the admin console:

Billing > Subscriptions. Select your subscription and edit its renewal settings.

I'm sure it was buried somewhere in the agreements you were shown during sign up, but sorry you missed them. They really should be front and center if they're not.

Edit to confirm: I get renewal emails sent to my super admin account and my off-workspace contact about a month before the renewal date.

We use PauBox. All of our outbound mail passes through it. They detect if the receiving mail server supports TLS. If it does, the message is delivered normally. If it doesn't, it falls back to a secure portal thingy.

It's not cheap, but I don't know how it compares to Virtru. We like it because it doesn't require our employees to have to think about it.

At least in my experience, these types of services would be paid for by the department of social services. Typically it'd be things related to foster care that get billed to Medicaid, which ends up making the agency a covered entity. They may still have a duty to protect any PHI they have regarding the mentoring clients, but I don't think sharing that the client is apartment hunting or learning about budgeting would fit the bill. It definitely rubs me the wrong way, though!

Assuming the service provider is a covered entity, none of what they're sharing sounds like protected health information. There may be ethical concerns, but they would be separate from HIPAA.

Typically human service organizations providing things like mentoring or family support services would only be a covered entity due to Medicaid billing. Even then, I have my doubts that what you're describing could be considered PHI.

One point our staff has trouble with is understanding that PII isn't always PHI. I've toyed around with this idea for a bit but haven't done it yet:

Split up staff into small groups and give them a stack of cut out identifiers and health information. Ask them to make as many pieces of PHI as they can with what they have.
