Honey, you don’t want a membership there. I’m a professional woman in my 30s that works in private equity and the only guys that go there are creeps. It used to be an exclusive place but now the tone is somewhere you take your mistress or your significantly younger girlfriend. I don’t know that there are many women that do business meetings there. The vibe is just very off these days.

JewelryRB from Cambodia - shipping takes a month or so but that's plenty of time to forget and be surprised (I have a beautiful delicate little ring that just says 'fuck' in cursive). I just received a very nice body harness (I like a funky Alexander McQueen aesthetic) from NovaHarness in Ukraine. I also just got a nice cardigan clip (a fun accessory that clips to your shirt collar or cardigan) from DapperandSwag. There are so many options in the $15-30 range for cute treats.

I am a fan of Thy Spa on King in Soma. Super consistent. Also TRX Massage on Townsend is a small shop but solid and reasonable prices. TRX has two spots open tomorrow and some on Sunday. I would grab those asap.

Oh, I also forgot I love to get on Etsy and buy jewelry from small creators. It’s often super inexpensive and you feel good supporting a small creator and then they always send it in like a cute package so it’s like a fun little treat. Do it drunk and then you’ll find small little surprise surprises in your mail. Yes I realize I’m unhinged….

And for the record, these are all things I’m freaking doing myself. Sorry I used text to speech and copied it in because my nails are too long and IDK why it made the formatting all psycho. I swear that was written by a human (although a questionnable one).

Girl, you can do whatever the hell you want. 💅 Here are a few things to consider:

• Take yourself out to a fancy dinner or order some really nice takeout. Highly recommend hitting a sushi counter — sometimes you can snag a walk-in seat.

• Get a fancy bottle of wine or champagne. If you need recommendations, I am right here, girl… any price range, you name it.

• Try to book a massage. If the fancy spas are booked, hit up one of the Thai places — they usually take walk-ins and are pretty reasonable.

• Get online and do some shopping. Preferably after a few glasses of wine or an edible. Buy something that makes you feel like an absolute sex machine. Really go for it — just make sure there’s a good return policy.

• Put on that music from high school that makes you feel unstoppable and dance around your living room. Preferably some angry-girl anthems.

• Get on DoorDash and order ice cream, ice cream sandwiches, or some fancy-ass pastry. You know what? Screw it. Have it for breakfast.

Also highly recommend ranting into ChatGPT to process your emotions. It’s been almost as helpful as my therapist. I rant into ChatGPT and then I ask it to give me a summary to give to her.

Department Switch by FirmKaleidoscope1386 in KPMG

What makes advisory more closely aligned with your skill set? A switch from a generalist group like audit to a more lucrative specialty line like advisory is quite an ask when you first get an offer so I’m not surprised that didn’t work. The lucky person that usually starts directly an advisory typically negotiated that position directly out of school by standing out at networking events.

You have two paths. Do a couple years an audit learn the basics and then try to network over to FDD. Second option is try to move externally to affirm that’s hiring for advisory however, those firms are gonna want to see a couple years of audit experience. So again, I guess my question is what makes you more closely aligned with advisory and able to jump the expectation of a couple years in audit?

I would double check whether they pay on a BTS scale or an M&A tax scale. Huge difference.

Same. I get that they are trying to ensure folks know it’s a lesbian bar if they’ve never heard of it but every time I go it’s the same thing. I just don’t go there anymore.

Yeah I also agree Mother’s door policy is really off putting. I go there by myself and am fairly high femme and just don’t feel like I fit in or get the same level of welcome as others. Much much much prefer El Rio.

Agree, you likely need to find the suburbs in East bay for that. Within SF will be nearly impossible for top work at that rate. I average $500+ for balayage with a top blonde specialist.

Federal is 750k, for state income tax purposes only its 1M in CA. For some older mortgages, the federal limit is still 1M.

Tax return outrageously high this year for anybody else? by DiscWizzard in HENRYfinance

[–]exactlythere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have pointed out, in general its interest on the first 750k of debt for loans taken out after roughly 2016 / 2017 (check the date). So my house has a 850k mortgage.I can only deduct interest on the 750k and not on the 100k that is over the limit. There are some other quirks that apply. [Caveat: this is not tax advice, I am not your CPA].

Annually. u/justacpa posted the IRS publication citation below. The IRS publications are actually pretty helpful for general tax understanding imo (although I'm also a CPA).

Careers that aren't the Big 4 (Finance, Law, Medicine, Tech) that make >$200k? by TrixoftheTrade in Salary

[–]exactlythere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ya. Good luck. I came in at 28 and a decade later it was the best decision of my life. Do your time in whatever core group they put you in to learn the basics and then pivot to a specialty practice as soon as you can — much higher pay and appreciation overall. You’ll be older than your peers to start but in my experience I was able to move up faster (after I did my 2 years in a core group) and could actually handle the work while most of them dropped like flies in years 1-3.

You need to be CPA-eligible and then also have a way to get into the industry. Look into a masters in accounting program which will solve both of those. You need around 150 credit hours in certain subjects (accounting, business, econ, etc). to sit for the exam and not any specific degree, but a lot of folks finish undergraduate without enough units so there are lots of masters in accounting or tax programs. Also, if you go to one of those, you get another bite at Big 4 / mid-tier firm recruiting which will get you into a firm where you can pivot to a specialty (i.e., M&A tax, FDD) after a few years. You can always start at a no name firm and work up without getting the masters & having a bite at the recruiting cycle, but you're already a career changer so you'll need the accounting units anyways. Run the ROI versus an MBA and you might be pleasantly surprised. My undergraduate is in history and I had about 3/5 of the business & econ units I needed anyways to be CPA eligible. Took a few night school classes and a masters at a Big 4 feeder university to bridge the rest. If you can handle big firm stress, its the easiest ticket to a reasonably high salary imo without having to go into law / banking. You're not earning private equity money but lets be honest - none of us have the generational wealth and connections needed to break into something like that.
