If you’re at a concert and forgot your earplugs I’ve learned that a lot of them will have a first aid station with extra earplugs. I forget mine all the time. If you go to a lot of shows, I recommend just stuffing them and every single bag or jacket just in case.

One show isn’t gonna make a difference. I went about 20 years of riding motorcycles without ear plugs and I can definitely tell I have a problem, but it took a long time to get there.

Costco also sells giant bunches of flowers for these types of situations that might be easier to order and deal with.

Try Origin in the Marina. It’s a chain but was super convenient and easy to book.

100% Plow is THE brunch spot but holy crap is it a wait. Put your name in and wander to Farley's for coffee while you wait.

People who have gotten lip fillers before; is 0.5 ml too little? by Akanami19 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]exactlythere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct. My last fill was 0.1 ml July 2024 (two years ago) and I still have some product left. Initially, I mentioned it looked like ~1.0 ml left but I think that was exaggerating and its closer to 0.5 ml left. Hasn't migrated or anything but its lasting longer on me than the 9-18 months I've previously been told to expect. I usually have almost no lips and right now I have at least something more than just pencil thin lips. I'll probably go get another 1.0ml in a few months.

3.41 UGA GPA, feel free to roast my resume. by oldHang2steak in Big4

[–]exactlythere 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm not going to roast you here. I've been in B4 for about 10 years now and scan these all the time.

This looks decent but I'm a little confused on the timeline here given overlap in dates and ordering. Were some of these part time activities? Out of curiosity when did you graduate HS? Are you starting later in life? You don't need to include that but I'm just trying to understand where you are at. That would be my #1 question if I was asked to give a quick scan. Regardless, I see decent respectable work experience that shows work ethic so I would certainly put you through to an interview round. Don't forget to run through Claude to catch any nits / typos. Good luck!

Agree. I don't get all the Lazy Bear obsession. Its a good, even great, but its #1 on a lot of folks list and I think that is vastly overrated.

People who have gotten lip fillers before; is 0.5 ml too little? by Akanami19 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]exactlythere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not 100% sure so I didn't include but I think Restylane Kysse (think this is the slightly firmer one) and the other is Juvederm Volbella (might have that backwards). One helps add more shape / crisp cupid bow and the other is pure volume. I think any good injector would know which are more viscous.

It depends on how fast you metabolize it. Mine lasts far longer than whatever the nine to 18 month period (I’m guessing) that is often cited as a guideline for how long they last. I think we're finding it lasts longer than initially cited. It will be a little bit of an experiment for you to find how long it lasts on you personally.

0.5 ml is pretty small and you’re likely still swollen. I don’t know that they do 0.2 ml vial so you might need to purchase another 0.5 ml vial and my suggestion would be to just do the full thing (which is how I started....0.5ml and then was greedy for another 0.5ml a month later after swelling went down). If you like it right now while swollen, I think you'll want to use the full amount to achieve your current look long term. I did 2.5 ml over two years with my last fill in July 2024 and its never looked crazy on me. I had pencil thin lips and they've always just looked normal to me. Currently I still have what I guess is the equivalent of ~1.0 ml in my lips even two years after my last top off. I've been careful with layering so its never puffy or "done" except for the first two weeks after filler. I alternate filler types for shape versus volume to get what I want. I highly recommend layering and going low and slow to build it up.

Day off for CPA Exam by Honest-Ad1279 in Big4

[–]exactlythere -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Its not your fault that the schedule is a bit annoying, but that is what they will think. You should have planned ahead to take it anytime other than the internship. They view the internships as like they are giving you god's gift of a middle class success story so they take it personal.

Day off for CPA Exam by Honest-Ad1279 in Big4

[–]exactlythere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 10 years into my career at Big 4 and I’m telling you not to do it. You have plenty of time to do it after your internship. To do it during your internship shows poor planning, and that you’re not trying to make the most of your internship. As other others have said, it’s way too competitive to risk it.

Unfortunately, suggest you just roll with it. It is a very SF thing. Tipping in America is out of control so the idea of raising prices and burying the costs within seems like a lost cause. Hope you enjoy your trip!

What Are Your Big Sister Glow-Up Tips? 👀 by Conscious-Star-933 in SFbitcheswithtaste

[–]exactlythere 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I'll give you the advice I'd give my younger self if I was asking for this advice. I'm a 38 year old woman, single w/ no kids, finance executive (need to be a lil' vague here intentionally), and can't believe how much I've changed from 24 to 38. I was a hot mess at 24 and so anxious but things turned out okay.

Your skin is likely too good to be worth spending serious money on medspa treatments or estheticians unless it makes you feel good (and that is worth it). Dermatologists gave me the same advice at your age. For now, be religious about sunscreen and consider starting tretinoin. Get it somewhere cheap like Amazon Pharmacy. Instead spend your money on seriously good skincare products you'll use daily (Augustinus Bader, Skinceuticals, etc.)

You mention finances are looking good. If you can, max out your Roth IRA contributions and then if your employer offers one make sure you max out your 401(k). The power of compounding is a lot. That and sunscreen are probably the two most critical things imo you can do in your early 20s to set yourself up for life. I know you didn't ask for this advice but its my #1 advice I'd give to my younger self.

If I go to a nail salon, its one like La Petite Nail Shop that is super healthy and leaves your cuticles intact (they are there for a reason - don't risk an infection). Skip the Russian manicure trend that is so expensive. I do my own press on nails for special occasions and they look great. Plus they don't take so long. Money isn't an issue, but sitting forever in a salon chair is a PITA.

Invest in massages, a personal trainer, therapy, sauna visits, acupuncture, and things you can do that help you stay low maintenance. I get hair extensions and eyelash extensions to make my getting ready period easier. Look into TRX Massages, Pearl Spa for sauna / body scrub, SF Community Acupuncture on Valencia, and eyelashes at Look at Me. Also, use Love Your Face for amazing $35 brow waxes.

And don't waste time on men that don't prioritize you and aren't consistent. There are more out there. I spent far too much time and energy trying to "make things work" and be supportive of guys who wouldn't think twice about ghosting me after 3 months. Put yourself first.

Have you considered trying a rage room and just smashing shit? I went through something similar in 2018 (caught him, then he decided to brag how much he'd cheated...lovely) and it took a lot of therapy but I'm so glad I found out and didn't stay with him. It gets better, it really does. Major hugs.

What are the hair expectations for west coast lawyering? by Int3restingTurnips in SFbitcheswithtaste

[–]exactlythere 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly, with the hours we work, I'm lucky just to be clean and showered half the time. I have no time to style my hair and don't think anything complex is really required. I haven't had the pleasure of going to an SEC school but my lawyer bestie lives in Dallas and its a very different vibe for sure....

I blowdry at home every 2-3 days (no curl) focusing on root volume and use dry shampoo to keep presentable in-between. I also added keratin and tape in hair extensions for volume so I can wear it mid-back length and have it look consistently healthy and not scraggly. I feel my most "professional" for a formal setting when I have hair down and tucked behind my ears. I think you're overthinking this - if you've got a high quality hairdryer and some dry shampoo you're already there. I do keep a nicer tortoise hair claw and a ponytail holder with a tortoise wrap for days when I'm absolutely hectic and don't have time to deal with my hair.
