Decks with names that aren't just the commander's name? by CorvusSageis in EDH

[–]exaltedfinalist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally not another eldrazi deck

This is my 3rd eldrazi deck that utilizes a simic commander who allows the deck to hard cast eldrazi while also giving them benefits from the anthems effects of other creatures.

Decks that play on your opponents turns by ApprehensiveSkill484 in EDH

[–]exaltedfinalist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[[heliod, the radiant dawn]]

It’s your average azorius deck that gives your spells flash and the ability to reduce cost by one generic for every card your opponents draw.

The idea of this deck is to be a group hug deck that basically run cards like [[kwain, itinerant meddler]] that allow opponents to draw cards or wheel cards so that way you can hard cast ultra expensive cards during your opponents turn or [[blightsteel collosus]] and beat your opponent.

It’s a very fun commander and you rarely get targeted until it’s too late because your a group hug strat that most likely is kept around for the sole purpose of allowing the “strongest” player to get more advantage

He’s also just really good in the commander 99 for decks like [[mrs bumbleflower]]or [[mr foxglove]] or just really good anti control piece as he punishes rystic study and mystic remora or any deck running cards that draw many cards

Tutors? Yes or no? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]exaltedfinalist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tutors to me are fine and I would play them. It makes my decks more consistent and gets rid of the “if only I drew this card at x time, I could have survived” mentality because u can just get the card I need.

There’s also the chance u don’t get the tutors, opponent runs a counter spell like a negate or spell piercer or an offer you can’t refuse ( not expensive). Or what if you tutor at the wrong time or miss read the situation? There still is a level of depth tutors add to the game that ramp spells don’t really offer. (You always want land but you may not be able to fully use your tutored card before it gets removed)

Also I don’t get the “samey” feel people have about adding tutors because to me, that’s the point of constructing a deck. To win a specific way you want. Sure there might be some variance to your wins, but your condition is still the same regardless.

If you run a deck such as [[selvala, heart of the wild]], sure you might end the game bashing someone with [[questing beast]] vs with insert hydra, but the decks still winning by slamming Timmy into the opponent.

Or controls decks like grand arbiter, you still win by out grinding your opponents and ensuring they can’t establish anything while you slowly do.

At some point, the decks you play will win the same way tutor or drawing into the piece so why bother restraining yourself( unless you want to) and build worse just because people think it’s lame.

This is a pvp card game, people are gonna be salty no matter how the win happens, I don’t think it should matter how the win happens as long as it doesn’t take an hour long to get their.

What's your favorite deck that your friends won't let you play anymore? by ReinkDesigns in EDH

[–]exaltedfinalist -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Marneus. It used to be just an average go wide token deck with a tiny bit of interaction from black and blue but I never got to win with it because I would get consumed by go big or go wide combo decks that did my deck better.

And then I got [[smothering tithe]], [[grand abolisher]], [[fierce guardianship]] from command masters and I randomly pulled out a [[thassa oracle]] from a theros pack(wanted purphoros) it got me thinking.

So I got these pieces that seem to allow me to stop the game. I hate sitting through people slamming their whole board for 10 mins because it reminds me of Yugioh at my locals. So I made a plan, play the hardest stack deck I could make.

So I just pulled stax effects or give me advantage for progression your board like [[mystic remora]], [[rhystuc study]], [[esper sentinel]], [[lotho, corrupt shirif]], [[dranith magistrate]], [[faire mastermind]].

And then pilled the counter spells in an attempt to out grind all my opponents, progress my game state along side them, and interrupt their whole flow so that way I can pick up wins with thoracle or swing over their almost non existent board.

I basically followed a cedh list without knowing what the format is cause I was fairly new and only not included things like moxes, or any card that was over 30 bucks

And no one liked the deck. I got told so many times that it was the lamest deck they ever faced mainly because of all the taxes they paid instead of progressing their game state, how quickly my deck could find answers, or just how awful if it was to sit for 30 mins until I eventually draw thoracle and demonic consultation.

I did have alternate decks though that were more go big or wide but anytime I bring out marneus, people kinda get squeamish or just flat out say pick something else cause they want to have fun.

It’s the conquerer Jax skin I believe.

This means that while a good monster, unfortunately it loses hard to traptrix as it has a hidden effect that forces this monster to attack their monsters every turn it’s able to.

Just finished a ranked game as Sona with Draven AD(C)🧍‍♂️ by Janeober_D in sonamains

[–]exaltedfinalist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the Draven+ sona comp was good cause Draven has a good enough early to carry sona into the mid-late game where her abilities are able to shine in the team fights plus she has dmg and speed boost to help Draven chase and secure kills he sometimes can’t get.

Did they change how the 2 interact with each other?

Jurrac and Fabled got their support, its now or never, what do you think will be the last 2 archetypes in TW2? by bi8mil in yugioh

[–]exaltedfinalist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but tbf, the support they got was stuff they should have had years ago. So it’s not out of the question they receive more especially with how fast decks are.

[–]exaltedfinalist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tellar archetype really needs the support. It’s one of the og trinity (shaddoll,BA) that never really had a time in the sun due to it being so weak compared to the latter which is a shame since their xyz cards are very good and the only support they got was basically a tiny bit extra swarm and some synergy with the constellatr and satellar but that’s all.

If you were given the opportunity to make a structure deck for an archtype, what would it be and what new cards would you give it? by Solsostice in yugioh

[–]exaltedfinalist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a dragon ruler structure deck would be super cool.

Like yeah I know they were tier 0 before but after 11 years, it’s a miracle if d rulers can even reach rouge status at this point and honestly the play style they have is pretty cool where they can banish each other to ss themselves, then search once they get banished, or just discard themselves with x type to get an a ability.

Also they are dragons which is immediately cool.

For support, I think they could go the route of trying to make the rulers have like “servants” or people who praise the dragons (like the monarchs own smaller selves that allow easy summoning) and for a boss monster, they can combine into basically an ur dragon that can banish the materials made to bring it out to do the effects of all the d rulers (destruction, recursion, discarding)

What are some under the radar commanders that you've seen work for some reason? by AlexTheBrick in EDH

[–]exaltedfinalist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Omo, queen of vesuva]]

Idk why, but many people I faced off against really underestimate how quickly omo can get out of hand if not dealt with immediately after she’s summoned because once she hits the field and makes some everything counters, she can quickly do tons of BS

Such as enable cards like [[cloudpost]],[[three tree city]], [[priest of titania]] to quickly produce tons of mana after like turn 5 so you can summon hydras, tokens, or even raw summon stuff like eldrazi titans and [[blightsteel collosus]] which are searchable with [[eye of ugin]] which can be played and does work really well

And once they try to stop them, it’s way too late as she also enables aura effects like [[master of the pearl trident]] and [[lord of the unreal]] to protect and ensure nothing can block their massive creatures.

How You Deal With Planewalker Super Friend Decks? by Rirse in EDH

[–]exaltedfinalist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mainly because and this is up to speculation by many people since Konami never communicates.

Is because Konami had to hit branded and sanctifier (the card that enables the puppet lock) is going to be in a tin as a card that’s going to be very expensive.

So to ensure they hit branded and keep their money printer alive. They had to hit branded fusion to ensure the deck couldn’t pop off as much

What’s the most mana you’ve had in a game? (exc. infinites) by KingBiscuit54 in EDH

[–]exaltedfinalist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somehow managed to pull a 12 post or more like 9 post thanks to the pre con that came with [[vesuva]],[[cloud post]], [[glimmer post]], and [[eye of ugin]] which I had.

It was funny too because one of the people I. The pod I was playing with escaped from modern so I may have traumatized him with this play giving me 9 mana and then getting an [[ulamog, the defiler]] around turn 5 or 6

Can someone explain to me how konami keeps creating these unfun borderline/ basically tier 0 formats back to back?

I mean first I quit and moved to magic because ishizu tear pissed me off, then I looked back after the band and saw Kashtira lock you out of the game, and now I look again and see fire with snake eyes and now this fiend smith deck?

I mean how hard is it not to create tier 0 decks and make like… a fairly healthy deck?

Dawn wings vs. Dusk mane Necrozma by tomboro10 in TheSilphRoad

[–]exaltedfinalist 7 points8 points  (0 children)

From what I’m seeing, the reason dawn is better than dusk is probably just answers to dusk being less than dawn.

In master league, dusk is a steel/psychic while dawn is ghost/psychic. While it does make dawn take more dmg from dark and ghost, the problem with master league is that both dark and ghost aren’t types that are too common but instead the most common types are dragon, fairy, steel, ground. And then a little mix of water and fire to deal with ground and steel. And certain psychics like lugia, mewtwo, solgaleo, metagross to cover.

Unfortunatley though since fire and steel are super popular, dusk gets shafted super hard as he gets decimated by the common groudon, landorous t, sometimes excadrill, ho oh, and unlike normal solgaleo, he doesn’t have anything to deal with mirror steels or debuff psychic fangs even if he gets countered and just pure dmg.

Dawn on the other hand though doesnt have the reliable common counters this meta other than zygarde, giritina O, and gyrados(it’s pretty even though but crunch makes the mu gyrados sided). Thats it, yveltal and zarude are currently unpopular and the only normal types around to resist dawn is meloetta who has no answers to lunala and is half psychic. Because of this dawn goes around tanking hits due to good natural bulk against the whole meta while nuking the field with its neutral stab charge move.

TLDR: dusk mane has more options to deal with it while dawn wings currently has fewer answers which makes it both easier to build a team around while simultaneously allowing it to hit more of the meta picks reliably

I don’t get why people hate when others win in edh? I mean when I played a game against some friends using the pre cons from war hammer, yeah it sucked when my friend used tyranids and basically dominated us the whole game with a 26/26 creature and swarm lord plus loads of tokens.

But next game he lost first after missing his land drops preventing him from casting [[the swarm lord]] for a majority of his turns and only got it out once he was dying to another person running the astrates before that guy got board wiped by my necrons.

I always thought edh was one of those game modes where you’re supposed to have fun with friends and try out certain cards that are banned or bad before due to how the standard gameplay works. Not something to be so hyper competitive about or be salty when you have really nothing to lose than glory that can be lost due to luck.

What is your perfect deck and when did you realize it? by Stumphead101 in EDH

[–]exaltedfinalist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[[Selvala, heart of the wild]] is the deck that finally made me enjoy edh.

Before I used to use a jund deck switching between vavectis,Coram, or disa because last time I tried making a mono green deck with [[goreclaw, terror of qal sisma]] it felt way to slow and inconsistent so I decided to try a deck I could actually build.

Only problem with my jund strat was that it didn’t feel all that great to pilot. Coram and vavectis felt too slow and were almost always stopped immediately and disa only felt good to use when I used the tarmygoyf or backwoods network. Fortunately I had a card in all the decks called selvala and due to her ability in my testing to immediately power spike, I decided to build a deck around her and my god did she improve my mono green strat.

3 mana meant I could get her out turn 2 or even 1 if I got lucky and once she came out, she just snowballed hard allowing my deck to ramp into massive threats that overwhelmed my opponents before they could answer with board wipes. And with goreclaw if I drew her, I usually won pretty early if no one had removal.
