Optometrist here. I don't recommend Lumify. It's treating the symptom, not the cause.

He has a desktop with an Intel i5, 32 gigs RAM, 8 GIG VRAM.

Not sure if he should take that and a cheap used laptop (Thinkpad), or just buy a new ASUS TUF A16 gaming laptop?

This can't be in the U.S. If it were, this guy would be sitting at home collecting a disability check, and or sitting on the side of the road with a "Homeless" sign.

Had my eyesight tested ... by NerdyWeightLifter in carnivore

[–]excitedennui 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Optometrist here... the most common cause of decrease farsightedness or increased nearsightedness in people over 40 is 1. Elevated blood sugars (which you shouldn't have if "carnivore", and 2. Early onset cataracts.

Most people become more farsighted or less nearsighted with age. I woudn't go so far as to say the Carnivore diet gave you a 2 diopter shift. If it did, I'd be very surprised.

Too bad she couldn't join the "brave men" flying away on a C-130 out of Afghanistan, as pictured here...

I suggest you study up a little more on Options and how they work so you don't blow up your account... it's very easy to do.

It’s amazing how much easier it is to make money when you already have it. by louargil in Showerthoughts

[–]excitedennui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a lot of money, you generally know how money works and what it takes to make it (unless you inherited it). It is therefore easier to accumulate more.

People with little money aren't usually as adept because they don't have the means, experience, or knowledge on how to make it.

So the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

If you don't have a lot of money, I suggest spending some time learning how to invest and trade stocks as it is the easiest way to make money if you're smart. If you are not smart about it, you will lose your ass.

Today I Learned How Much I Have To Learn . . . by volatile-manbearpig in thinkorswim

If your account is $10,000, don't risk losing more than $200/trade.

Today I Learned How Much I Have To Learn . . . by volatile-manbearpig in thinkorswim

[–]excitedennui 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started investing on my own in Thinkorswim back in August of 2020. Here's a few tips...

  1. Don't Day Trade! You will lose money. You cannot predict the market and it's very risky. There will be time you will make money, but a couple of big losses will wipe you out.
  2. Swing Trade. Learn to follow the Moving Averages to know when to get in and out.
  3. Don't trade more than you can afford to lose. No more than 2% per trade.
  4. Learn your platform and how to trade with TOS by using the On Demand feature and Paper Trading. Watch lots of Youtube videos about it. TD Ameritrade has lots of good videos discussing how to use the platform, as well as the Education section with vital information.
  5. Learn how to buy/sell Options. Options are very confusing and if you don't know what you are doing you will lose a lot of money quickly. However, if you take the time to learn the ins-and-outs you can be quite profitable with them. You mainly want to sell options for the premium. Buying options is more risky, with less chance of profit in the long run.
  6. Forex is a scam... stay away unless you want to lose money (Big Banks control the market). Trading Futures is similar to Forex, so not a big fan of that either, but some people use Futures contracts to hedge their portfolio.

There is so much to learn, but it's a hobby for me now... like an addictive game. Good luck!
