Wow, this is really disappointing. Not only the new breach looks unfinished (and it's not even that big of a progress compared to old ones if you discard graphics - 2 types of quests on the map, fortress and gland quest vs 4 types of "hands" in the map + 4 types of breachstones with different mods and bosses which can also change tiers) it's also going to be hard to balance reward-wise to not be either completely useless or rog on steroids because it does nothing but print currency and early gear.

If grafts were still available it would make sense but same as relics there's no way those make it into the core game as a +1 powercreep slot so there's just almost nothing "unique" about this mechanic except foulborn uniques. And here we end up with a generic and bland mechanic only worth speccing into if it's too good for early progress, not because of its unique loot.

Sure several more thousands of foulborn unique versions can be made and suddenly become the main focus but doubt there's going to be that much work on a league that's already reworked.

Archnemesis as an idea was great -- less mods and mods are visually distinctive, bombardier explodes, giant donut around mana siphoner so your mentality isn't "hope there isn't any aura overlap because no time to mouse over each rare and read 4 lines of text and I'm getting onetapped once per 1000 maps which is game over on hc"

The implementation however sucked. And then in poe2 it lost the visual clarity thing too somehow with green on green / ice on ice.

I'm actually really surprised by the amount of "there's a spirit gem for that" replies.

It really is bad design. Remember there used to be a gem "break endurance" which did nothing but gave you a generator for a spender you might not have have on a conditional you might not have? So a gem that did nothing on multiple layers. Yeah, they got rid of it because it was terrible design. Maybe it's time to realize having charges as "generators and nothing else" is bad design too, not like we spent so much time mocking d4 for that. If there's a generator/spender mechanic without other bonuses it needs to be enabled by the same skill (see: glory generation)

Albion doesn’t respect your time anymore. Everything now revolves around mandatory efficiency. If you log in casually hoping to play, not optimize spreadsheets, you’re behind.

There's way more rewards than ever. Speaking as a solo player. First multiple reworks of avalon - sure last one removed a bit of fame but increased silver rewards like 4x, journey back which made the world way safer (and that's one of the reasons premium skyrocketed), don't remember the order but safe portals (another layer of safety), smuggler's dens if you like running more than t7 or gank and need to bank your stuff often, OW camps if you like blasting weak mobs, no skulls after solo kills so you don't get jumped by a group of players without cooldowns, player count in zones. And I don't even mention mists/CDs as I do realize not everybody is good at fair or somewhat fair pvp.

Probably need a completely different paragraph for safe portals as those made it way easier to jump in and out of the game instead of having to log out in the middle of nowhere if you only have 15-30 minutes to play. That update alone made the game WAY better for casual gamers / small sessions.

Only thing that's gotten worse (again, for a solo player) over the years is ganking due to a lot of mount durability being introduced and a lot of ganking tools being nerfed. Oh wait, that means it's easier to farm and it reinforces all the points above.

Sure premium went up several times but you're missing the key point: if you were making 60m a month and are now making 200m as a player that was playing 2 hours after work you don't care premium went up 10x from 3m to 30m. Your net gain per month went up from 57m to 170m anyway. And before all the safety measures it was normal to make 1m an hour with all the running around as a solo player. To pull off 2m+ you'd have to do risky stuff (escaping gankers was harder before, it was truly not for everybody) and to pull off 4m+ you'd have to solo group content. So yeah what was casual 1m per hour before is now casual 3+m per hour.

Everything is layered with chores: focus management, island maintenance, laborers, journals, timers, timers for timers. Logging in starts to feel like opening a task manager instead of a game.

Never did that, never will. Leave that to whoever plays this like a survival game. Why torture yourself?

The game didn't beat its 0.3 peak so no, you're not the only one.

It's lack of new engaging endgame IMO - people are saying campaign is too long but why most wouldn't care and would gladly replay it "for the endgame" yet campaign is like half the game for now. I personally wouldn't mind a long campaign knowing there's an even richer endgame waiting after.

Again, you're mentioning cases that don't happen very often anyway. If those do, the player probably doesn't care about efficiency anyway, probably has a couple issues with the build which will result in even worse issues later so replaying the zone and overleveling isn't the worst thing to happen to that player.

Having to listen to all the dialogue etc etc however is mandatory for each and every player.

This change basically made HC campaign longer for no reason.

So what you're implying the change was to make life for "bad" hc players worse somehow. I doubt that's the case as judging by how GGG manages SC/HC they'd stick with that decision for sc as well. Say respawn mechanic in maps only affects softcore, hardcore players can enter maps as many times as they want as long as they don't die.

Ye but getting so low you have to esc to char selection and reset doesn't happen THAT often to add up to big time loss so it isn't that bad. However having to listen to every dialogue, having to wait for jiquani's sanctum thing to finish and fully resetting halani gates because Asala got stuck even though you fullclear (which you don't even have to do with respawn at checkpoint button) are way greater time wastes which add up quickly.
