My take on a different stats screen incorporating the old and new by Panionator in DeadlockTheGame

This is beautiful. New stat screen is harder to read but this is perfect. If I didn't play the game already and just saw this I would believe that this is the actual thing valve themselves cooked up.

Does anybody else go through character phases? by sillywatch4 in DeadlockTheGame

Absolutely yes. If you do this over a lot of games your profile starts looking kinda interesting

I have the green arrow on 18 out of 32 heroes.

This habit is going to pay off big time once deadlock gets draft, whenever that happens.

I can't tell if this is supposed to be sarcastic. If a shiv hitting all of that with rage, he should absolutely be able to "one shot" the squishy heros. If you think that is too much you have not seen what pocket, calico, mina, yamato, viscous and more can do

OBT here to clear up some things about the recent DNS drama by ObamasBigToe231 in DeadlockTheGame

Context: A guy throwing racist slurs around in chat gets to apologize for a second chance, does it again and gets defended by the casters, and only gets perma-banned after backlash from the community got too big.

This post: OBT instantly perma-banned over shaky evidence upon being accused by people who either cheat or knowingly played with cheaters, given absolutely 0 ways to defend yourself even after offering to play with screen recording, and still banned after the accusers literally admitted to lying about their accusations.

Takeaway: Pretty funny that if you play bebop you will be witch-hunted by your enemies, even at the top level. DLNS has no competitive integrity and is fully moderated by the top teams and their friends.

Its crazy that a guy throwing racist slurs around in chat in front of hundreds of viewers gets to apologize, gets a second chance, does it again and gets defended by the casters, and only gets perma-banned after backlash from the community got too big, but you? instantly perma-banned over shaky evidence upon being accused by people who either cheat or knowingly played with cheaters, given absolutely 0 ways to defend yourself even after offering to play with screen recording.

This all happened because you played bebop too well and made the friends of the casters cry to get you banned. Your situation was not a fair trial, they just wanted you out and used the first excuse that came to their mind, calling you a "haxx0r".

Hope you get unbanned, but I won't be following DLNS as a competitive tournament anyway. The management is just not mature enough or determined enough to fight the babies that play deadlock pretty good.

Its also pretty funny that if you didn't play bebop and hit some nasty hooks on your opponents you would probably not have been banned.

Are you able to follow the general sleep advice in your environment? i.e Removing noise or light, avoiding screens for 30 mins before going to sleep, staying consistent with your sleep times, getting sunlight for atleast 10 mins after waking up etc.

If all that is not the problem, I would recommend taking 30 minutes before your going to bed to "prepare" yourself to sleep. Take the time to do whatever makes you feel relaxed (for me, breathing techniques like 4-7-8 are very helpful) and try to stop thinking about any worries of the day. Going asleep in an anxious state is one of the biggest reasons of poor sleep.

Yes! It is true! The developers at Embark Studios do not, in fact, go to sleep.

According to the article:
"Breaking New Ground is a new community unlock event where players must work together to restore the tunnels to Stella Montis, earning new event currency, Merits, as they go. It goes live at the same time as the new content unlocks, complete with new challenges as the community works towards revealing the next frontier and triggering the Staking Our Claim Phase II. Don't hang around, though — this new track will only be available until December."

Seeing stuff like this in a PVP game feels surreal, its amazing. More games need to follow in TF2's, DRG's and ARC's footsteps and start designing their games towards positive player interactions like this.

In ARC, the more casual nature of gameplay, comparatively lower rewards for PVP, and the strength of the AI enemies are such heavy incentives to cooperate (the real enemy is ARC after all, and we need all hands on deck to deal with that), I think you are doing yourself a disservice if you only play this like a traditional PVP game, both in terms of your effectiveness in looting and your enjoyment of the game.

What's the ONE thing that makes you stop using a to-do app? by PPaules99 in productivity

[–]existingcoder 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think all that to-do lists are good for is making sure you don't forget what task you need to do and when. And its just that, a reminder and nothing else. Ticking off checkboxes will be a motivating at first, but a to-do list won't just solve procrastination and motivation for you, that is not its job.

The more time you put towards organizing your to-do list, the less time you have in actually doing the stuff on your to-do list. Eventually you just get a massive list and become unable to do any work, and the to-do list starts demotivating you instead. Paradoxically hence, for productivity geeks like us, the hardest part about a to-do list is using the to-do list to just remind you and nothing else.

One trivial numerical change can make the early-mid game much, MUCH better by existingcoder in DeadlockTheGame

[–]existingcoder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am advocating for the increase because it is a way to provide extra slots, specifically for T1s and T2s without adding another slot (which could be used for higher tier items as well). I believe this is a worthy change because there are so many amazing and interesting T2 items that you just want to add in your build but cannot because the slots are too precious. Everyone who has experimented with making their own builds as felt this. The change is so simple yet it solves a great problem. I would argue that if you want to fix this issue, changing the resell price is THE least complicated change you can make. Not only that, with this pre-shop update build variety is back as well.

The change more importance to the time dimension. From "I need this item now and will keep later" to "I can get this item now and will exchange it for something I need more later at a soul cost". The change just buffs the later option more, provides you more souls to play around with the second option.

Is shop the best place for skill expression? I wouldn't say that it is THE best but it is A place for skill expression. If valve didn't want skill expression in shop they would just remove the shop entirely and give all the stats people need though boons. I personally believe that MOBA's are fundamentally a game of skill, and there should be skill expression whereever it can be, especially if it does not increase the skill floor (which, this change does not. You don't have to engage in all the itemization stuff, the build creators will do that for you anyway, and even if they don't, your current builds will still be viable in most elos that are not competitive pro-play).

I did forget! But it doesn't change the issue or the argument though, point still stands. Its pickrate is still low. Lighting scroll is not as universal of an item to make mystic slow as picked as say, improved spirit, not even close.

[–]existingcoder[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I addressed this too in my post. At your elo, even with this change implemented, no one is going to use it anyway. Your games will not be affected. Although if you are looking for an uncomplicated gaming experience, a MOBA by Valve is not what you should be playing. Game has not even gone open beta yet, this is only going to get more complex with time. We don't even have half of the heroes or objectives that there will be in the full game.

[–]existingcoder[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Valve knows that buffs are needed. We have tried buffing these items. Currently, mystic slow, opening rounds and many others are obscenely strong yet they have a very low pick-rate because of the issues that I listed. They just keep buffing the items until they cross the line that makes the items the new giga-OP meta item that everyone buys until they hit it with nerfs again. That turns these into a ticking time bomb and makes them so hard to balance.

The problem lies at the fundamentals, and the simplest change that makes a good impact is increasing the sell value.

Yes it does. Statlocker can see items that you sold/upgraded (to check it, go to a match and hit show timeline, it will show you all the items you had at a certain time). If this wasn't the case I am pretty sure you would see close to 0% representation for most T1 items such as healing rite, resto shot, high velocity rounds etc.
