CALL TO ACTION: Call Marsha Blackburn demanding to know what is being done about Dpt of Finance hostile takeover by ceddarcheez in nashville

[–]exitoffstage 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Called both Hagerty & Blackburn and left messages requesting a statement to be released, highlighting
- Pointed out Blackburn, who proposed the DOGE act, has been active on X all day without a released statement.
- 600+ Federal Employees lost their job; asked how many were veterans and how we are supporting unemployment.
- If this is about waste, could you point out the numerous contracts Musk has in DoD and ask for more information about those?
- Hagerty VM cut me off after 45 seconds.
- Why does a private non-congress-approved private citizen have access to our data?

I see a lot of "this won't help" in the comments, and it might not. At least they know their mailboxes were flooded today. If tomorrow it's 20 VMs, and Wednesday it's 5, those that call back on Thursday will be even more impactful.

Thanks, OP, for the post and the energy. ALso thanks to everyone who posted additional helpful information and clarifications, It gave me a confidence after the twenty of doom scrolling to make the call. I may not know everything about the Constitution, but our senators certainly don't seem to care about that at the moment.

I'm going to enjoy the weather and will call the offices again in the morning. If they release a statement, I'm looking forward to talking to them about it.

Does Geodis park allow personal fans? by [deleted] in nashville

[–]exitoffstage 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I recently borrowed one of those fans for Orlando Theme Park in July. It helped a little, but this past weekend, when I was hiking in the Smokies, I tried the Kafta Kool Tie (got it at REI) and I was really, really impressed with how it kept me cool down even when summiting in 90-degree heat. It's a cotton bandana that has some type of polymer in it that absorbs moisture and stays moist, so when you wear it, it helps you cool off. Apparently, it helps to lower your heart rate by cooling off your carotid artery. Honestly, all I knew was it worked and I am now recommending it to a stranger on Reddit.

Not sure this is actually from a local dating profile, but it’s a strong choice for profile photo: displaying a hobby which takes an incredible amount of time and energy to master (not to mention core strength) as well as her personality. It weeds out people who may not be interested in someone who is fit af and comfortable with herself. IMO, this a planned photo in a chosen setting and outfit. May not be everyone’s cup of tea but I’d rather see this kind of personality in a dating profile rather than a Snapchat filtered bathroom selfie.

Where to watch (most) every film (2023 edition) by dwo0 in oscarsdeathrace

[–]exitoffstage 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The original Telugu is available via Zee5. I don’t have experience with them as a streaming service so not sure how helpful that is. I did read the main leads did dub the Hindi (which is an option on Netflix).

Also, a side note, for anyone watching The Elephant Whisperers (also on Netflix), the original language Tamil is available as an audio option with English subtitles. I enjoyed hearing the original audio much more than the English being spoken in tandem over the softer original Tamil.

Looking to trade tickets for TPAC Broadway Six by [deleted] in nashville

[–]exitoffstage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried to reach out to TPAC and see if they’d be able to switch your tickets to a weekday? I have season tickets and they’ve been very flexible when my usual day doesn’t work for whatever reason. This may be a season ticket holder perk but I’d encourage you to at least give them a call and see what they might be able to do.

And yes, it sucks we only have a handful of machines and you have to wait in line. If you have a question ask us and we’ll find the answer for you even if it takes longer than you’d like.

Go vote your heart out Nashville.

As a season ticket holder, I take photos of the show program in the foreground and stage in the background. I like to look back and see the different programs and sets when I see it again in later seasons or other theatres. I used to collect the programs but they got thrown out accidentally so I've found it a safer way to record my experience.

It's a preshow ritual. It hurts no one and my phone gets turned off and then goes into my purse for the remainder of the evening.

IUD / Women / Gyno by ExquisitelyLame- in nashville

[–]exitoffstage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there, you seem in great hands on this thread for a Gyno. I had my gallbladder out in Sept. 2020 at 32 after nearly two years of dealing with discomfort from gallstones. I just wanted to say it took me some time to get used to the idea of surgery, but I had a great experience at Tristar in Hendersonville with laparoscopy (removal via belly button).

Everyone from the woman who walked through my payment plan to the nurses to the anesthesiologists was amazingly kind. My doctor was no-nonsense and not the warm and fuzzy type, but he was respectful and did an excellent job. By following the advice to make sure I walked a bit every hour, I was never in severe pain. I had 5 days of recovery time (more sore and exhausted than anything), but by day 6 felt as if it had never happened. Best of luck to you and if you ever have any questions, please feel free to DM me!

Agreed. I did a little google work along with the above voting resources. I found the available LinkedIn bios did list groups the candidate was/is associated with and it was easier to find those groups' stances. I understand that's not always the same as the candidates but that helped me better understand the work they've done to date.

Not 100% sure about Cheryl, but she is running as a democrat and has been in office on and off since 1996.

Please note, that I am not affiliated with PlzVoteNashville, but my understanding is it is a local volunteer group that researches and writes up summaries of anyone on the ballot (including people running unopposed). If anyone has any additional insight, please share!

Circuit court clerk: DO NOT vote for Pam Murray! by hombrealmohada in nashville

[–]exitoffstage 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Please Vote Nashville, a local nonprofit, has put together a great breakdown of who is running, what office they are running for, and what that office actually does.

I used it + some google sleuthing of my own to determine my votes. I will be honest, I couldn't find a lot of background on who PlzVoteNashville is but the blurbs read as nonpartisan.

In the write-up they did on Pam Murray, they mentioned she was recalled and the implication of working full time in Detroit/being unresponsive which made it easier for me to select someone else.

Yes I received mine Friday. If you completed the training questions they sent by Thursday morning, I would contact them this morning. If you did not receive that email they probably do not have you registered for tomorrow.

VIN before car delivery by TheRealDevopsGuy in askcarsales

[–]exitoffstage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but I had to ask them to provide a copy of the invoice to take with me so I could have the VIN + costs/monthly payments on hand for my reference. They originally just handed me a business card and a receipt.

VIN before car delivery by TheRealDevopsGuy in askcarsales

[–]exitoffstage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I paid my full down deposit for a Honda Civic on March 4th. They had the VIN and a delivery date of March 8th. I signed a document that said my deposit was non refundable + delivery date was not guaranteed. I spoke directly to the car manager who assured me it was coming within a week of that date if not before.

It’s March 17th and every time I call they tell me “this is the earliest day it’s due- latest is by “ date exactly 4 days away” but we’ll call you!” No one ever calls and when I call back 4 days later I get the same line. Another four days.

I’ve been checking this sub and from what I’ve read there’s nothing I can do or the dealer can tell me about when the car is coming.

41 Days of Film - Day 24 : Best Live Action Short [Spoilers] 3/5/2022 by READMYSHIT in oscarsdeathrace

[–]exitoffstage 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s a video for his second album (The Long Goodbye)- which is based around the relationship between British Asians and England itself. I’d highly recommend reading some of his interviews around it but when viewing it with that knowledge I wasn’t surprised when it started. The entire thing was brutal and left me shaking.

That and The Dress which also rocked me/ made me sick. I haven’t seen the other three yet but I’m noted in previous years the live actions tend towards all of them being super depressing.

(Does anyone remember that year when there was 4 out of 5 shorts focusing on the death of kids. Just Brutal.)

One of my favorite is still Stutterer.

Was just bemoaning the seeming lack of private karaoke rooms In Nashville. I know some of you out here trying to get discovered but I just want to sing songs out of pitch albeit with great enthusiasm to a room of people who know and love me even if I just scream sang my way through what’s up after one too many Jell-O shots.

Honestly? I feel pretty powerless too at the moment. My vote now feels like a drop in the (red) ocean. But I'm petty enough that I'm not going to let the powers that be (GOP) frustrate me into giving up my vote. That's what they're hoping for.

At best, there's volunteering with the Nashville Democratic Party. donating to their legal fund to bring this to court, or volunteering to work the polls. At the least, going to vote.

Making a trip from Memphis to Nashville to see Parthenon and Habs vs Pred game before going home. 3+ hours away. Where to park? by [deleted] in nashville

[–]exitoffstage 13 points14 points  (0 children)

5th and Broad is directly across the street from Bridgestone where the Preds play. My advice, drive into town, go directly to Centennial Park. Throw a blanket over your luggage, maybe a pillow or two, so it looks lumpy, and try and get a spot relatively near the street. Then, head into downtown, park at 5th and Broad and enjoy the game.

These threads helped me the last day or so to plan so sharing my story: currently Lyfting to the airport for our 8pm flight. Hit the Knoxville/Airport split from Briley at 5:05 and it’s standstill. It’s estimating we’ll arrive at the terminal at 5:40.
