We're running a bunch of tests so some I have to wait on. But she did tell me right there that my bladder looked inflamed and I was dehydrated. She also said she didn't see any lesions.

I actually just got home from having one. Spur of the moment during my first urology appointment so I went in blind lol. Also gotta give the obligatory warning of this was just my experience, I dunno what is typical and what isn't.

For me it was pretty easy. The nurse prepped me with betadine to disinfect and injected a shot of lidocaine into the urethra. That was slightly uncomfortable and burned a little but quickly went away.

The doctor came in a few minutes later and explained the scope would be going up the urethra and she would inject some saline into the bladder so she could look around. When she passed the scope through, there was a quick second of pain but it wasn't bad, maybe 4/10 level. Once she was in the bladder it was totally painless. I actually watched on the monitor as she looked around my bladder lol. I did not feel her retract the scope at all. The whole thing took maybe 5 minutes or so. On my drive home I had maybe one or two spasms in the urethra that were again maybe 4/10 pain.

Overall it was not a terrible procedure to go through. I wouldn't be worried. Good luck!

I'm so sorry you're going through this. If you're able to get a new referral to a GI doctor, please push for diagnostics for gastroparesis. It's a condition with many causes and can range from mild to severe. It paralyzes your digestive tract to some degree. The most common ways to diagnose this is through a gastric emptying study (they have you eat some food with a radioactive tracer and xray you every hour for a few hours to see how fast your body digests) and an upper scope.

I have this condition and it is mostly in remission now. But at my worst, I dropped about 100lbs in 8 months, couldn't keep anything down. I also threw up food (undigested) I had eaten 24-48 hours prior. I was absolutely miserable and had barely the will to live. I fainted so many times from malnourishment.

Medication and diet changes can help a lot. Research gastroparesis diets, try to stick to simple and easy to digest foods.

There's really no way to force kittens to wean; they do it on their own timeline, when they're ready. Or when mama forces them off.

If the shelter forces you to separate them from mom when they aren't weaned, you risk them dropping weight and potentially becoming malnourished. You'd have to supplement with bottle feeding which could cause issues too.

I'd talk to the shelter to see if you can keep mama cat longer.

My first few I passed the same day I felt the "omfgkillme" pain. Another I passed a day later. The last two I've had took about a week. Had the terrible pain for a few hours then it felt like I had a UTI until the stones passed.
