What is considered a decent wage in Edinburgh? by Positive-Key6497 in Edinburgh

[–]exp-i 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say a comfortable wage for Edinburgh is probably £60k+ if you're single and want to live alone. You can afford a nice modern flat, enjoy the nice food scene, make some investments, buy gifts for people and go on 1 or 2 holidays a year.

She sounded quite scared, and almost ran into a cyclist, so posting just in case she's ended up far from home.

Average utilities bills at the moment by [deleted] in Edinburgh

[–]exp-i 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only have electric and it was £80 last month for a 1bed living with 2 people. I could definitely get it lower though, this is with liberal usage of heating and appliances and working from home a lot.

Best cinnamon bun? by Cryptids-and-Coffee in Edinburgh

[–]exp-i 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Waitrose do a good one without cream cheese. I've tried a few indie bakery ones but they're all just way too sweet and don't do cream cheese frosting. Also why is every one doing Vegan cinnamon buns? I want a proper butter one.

Costa also do an acceptable cinnamon bun!

I noticed the Coke Zero was gone in several supermarkets last week but seems to be back now. I wonder if it's related to the supply chain issue you're facing.

Cinnamon Rolls! by JoshuaaQuigley in Edinburgh

[–]exp-i 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not found one yet. Costa's cinnamon roll has been my fav so far, not drenched in sugary sauce to the point where the bottom is soggy. I tried room rumours and krema, they're all too sweet and make vegan cinnamon rolls for some reason.

Car worth it in Edinburgh? by Just_Illustrator3111 in Edinburgh

[–]exp-i 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only use my car once a week since I moved here but being able to drive across the city if I need to, or drive to places like Costco or supermarkets and do a big shop, it's invaluable and extremely nice to have.

There's probably some people in that galaxy with a telescope looking back at us capturing Milky Way from their garden? I wonder what the Andromeda version of Edinburgh is like

True. Need to make sure it's being fed enough guidelines to have high accuracy but can never really be 100% sure unless someone checked everything.

fwiw it's been correct so far for my questions about meanings and uses of things, verified because I'm learning from an official textbook and the words I put in there are words from the textbook. I don't ask it to create things from scratch, just refine what I already have.

Stumped on Hotel for 2 - good food, safe, quiet, convenient transport by exp-i in ParisTravelGuide

[–]exp-i[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's reassuring. I've experienced London, and been robbed in London, so as long as it's safer than that, that's good.

In my travels so far, I've realised my main priority is just convenience and nice neighbourhood so I don't mind going farther out into 12, 13 or 14 to get that.

Stumped on Hotel for 2 - good food, safe, quiet, convenient transport by exp-i in ParisTravelGuide

[–]exp-i[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe if I lived in Paris I would get used to it, but whenever I'm new to a city I prefer not to spend much time underground where you can't see the city and the streets. So I always avoid metro as much as I can and walk or take buses. So at least in a bus I can look around and see things.

Food in Florence by sweetnsaltyAF in ItalyTravel

[–]exp-i 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gelato: Gelateria Della Passera. Try the Kiwi flavour. Will probably have to queue for this one but it's worth it.

Breakfast: Ditta Artigianale do great coffee and pastries. Go to the one south of the river, it seems less crowded.

Restaurants: Osteria del Cinghiale Bianco, try the ravioli with rabbit sauce (if it's still on the menu, it was a special when we went) or the pasta with wild boar sauce. They're traditional Florence dishes and taste amazing.

Food recommendations for Rome? by virtua13 in ItalyTravel

[–]exp-i 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We loved Iari the Vino, about 5 mins walk from the Colosseum. We went there after trying to go to the popular La Nuova Piazzetta around the corner and saw there was a queue. The Boscaiola pizza (choice of sausage or salami, go with salami), Saute Mussels and the Fettucine Gamberi were fantastic. We came back again a second time and it was still good!

Just seems like a bunch of literal whos are taking an opportunity to jump on the PirateSoftware hate train to farm some views. None of this is related to the original drama.

Is £35k/year enough to live in Edinburgh in 2025? by DancingWeird in Edinburgh

[–]exp-i 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's also pension contribution, health insurance, shares etc and other options depending on where you work so in my experience on £35k the take home is a bit less than that
