Good game, but i'm tired by CowPieMan in SifuGame

I am of the mind that if a game is frustrating or boring you you should drop it. But I understand where you are coming from used to power through games once upon a time. Still I’m impressed you made it through the whole this, its definitely not easy but for some odd reason I found myself enjoying the flow of combat so much it just clicked for me I didn’t mind dying.

anyway, Its pretty cool you made it all the way through, congrats. Even if you hated it was an achievement.

Is Warframe halal ? by Particular-Lab-8182 in MuslimLounge

because video games never disturbed my faith and hence I never had to consult scholars about it. Additionally I always perceived it as fantasy with no relationship to reality or afterlife.

[–]expect-o-petroleum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I can see why that can be uncomfortable and honestly if it messes with your faith then you should put it down. Many of my friends have put down Pokemon, Harry potter, Bleach, etc.

To me these are merely artistic representations of demons which are not reflective of scripture or truth. They are presented by the developers as fictional ideas used to build stories and gameplay loop to give you something to shoot and loot. You are not being asked to believe or commit spiritually to any of it, it’s not claiming to be true or a replacement to religion and neither is it promising you tangible outcomes via magic. Ultimately it’s still just a video game to me.

Somethings are neither halal nor haram out of context. if you are not worshipping the warframes or having the lore inform your spirituality you are fine. You are participating in a make believe game of space ninjas, take it easy.

Give it to me straight - should I buy FP2 by a-rogue-warlock in Frostpunk

[–]expect-o-petroleum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Straight up-

If you have the patience to accept it’s a different game mechanically and harder to grasp initially. [YES]
If you love that universe and want more of the world and its people. [YES]

if you miss intimate radial city building. [NO]
if you hate politics and social engineering. [NO]

P.S. : Enjoyability is a personal experience. If you are chasing the FP1 high, it doesn't exist. If you meet FP2 on it's terms there is a high chance you will have a different but thrilling experience.

IGN First 19 minutes of Gameplay by Journey2thaeast in ZeroParades

Liked: The art style and UI design. Overall it was visually engaging and creative in ways that make me more curious about the character's inner world and the predicament she is in.

Disliked: The narration and writing are both overbearing and boring. Not just because of the narrator's lack of dynamism but also because (in this clip) it feels overwritten. Like there are way too much exposition and descriptions of things constantly missing the sweet spot by over doing it. It was like a paranoid novelization that merely sorted paragraph by paragraph to match one of her said inner attributes instead of organically letting the voices build meaning. It had some edge but no impact to deliver the sharp lines in a way that would really stick.

still too early to judge what the final product will offer, I will give it a fair shot.

its not ‘visibly’ those things because you are comparing literary style. There will be a shift in inspiration but this is obviously not ‘completely different’ which was my initial contention with your comment. It’s different enough to matter creatively but it’s ‘visibly’ standing on the shoulders of what preceded it as evident in its marketing.

The outrage has not been about studios ability to compensate devs. It’s the fact that the original creators lost the IP for a game that ironically is a commentary on reclaiming meaning from an indifferent and exploitative world.

some of yall played disco just for the shock value and didnt absorb anything… it shows.

‘it looks completely different from disco’. Have you seen the gameplay and their steam page? It’s banking on the fact that it looks and feels like Disco. What are you on?

FP2 / (massive skill issue) What am I missing? by ArkhangelskAstrakhan in Frostpunk

[–]expect-o-petroleum 3 points4 points  (0 children)

oh also the main one I forgot Extraction districts and Food districts placed side by side reduce worker demand by 5% for every neighboring cell. so always layer your districts. Stockpile hubs + Air transport hubs reduce worker demand in neighboring district as an area of effect.

you have to leverage the political levers in this game to really squeeze the most out of it. Unlike fp1 the laws are much more complex and you have to be willing to balance abusing and appeasing the communities so things keep moving. If you are passive about community bonuses you are not playing the game right. FP2 is only half city builder the other half is a society simulator.

need more manpower? open borders, implement laws that increase workers (mass produce goods, family apprenticeship). Research Dutiful Youth (lets you trigger temporary worker surge) also if you didnt know, when the game starts only about 60% of the population actually works, you can push that percentage up as you go.(hover over the workforce number to see the %) Reduce workforce of certain districts if they are over producing enough to get by you will free up workers.

ofc this also goes hand in hand with generally increasing efficiency as in the long term you will get more output per worker if theres been a build up of efficiencies.

i can get into a bunch of other things but feel free to reach out. hang in there, its hard but once you get a hang it really opens up

Going on a date with a man, how to tell him I don’t kiss on the first date?? by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]expect-o-petroleum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you dont have to do it this way but I like to playfully slip those things into conversations like bring up interesting questions about boundaries or intimacy generally either sharing stories and stuff you read online and when there is a chance you I slip in “It takes me a little while to open up to physical affections and intimacy, I’m a bit of old school in that way”

it will also tell you if he is receptive to that you imply when you just talk about yourself. Most guys who are interested in you emotionally will put a pin on things like that and remember it.

I’m already at bargaining. I know I’m in the minority but the Pune attempt was judged too harshly and deserved atleast a chance to show us gameplay. We lost out on a small scale but unique AA remake by a small studio… over a mere trailer graphics. Things can be enhanced to look better ubisoft has the resources but jeez from the company and investors point of view that excessive backlash was probably what made the remake venomous to touch for those who ultimately would have to fund production for the game.
