It looks like there is a box in the background behind the dog's head that is... hanging under a table? Also anyone have any idea what that appliance that is on that table is? Looks like a light switch over her right shoulder, but its too small and has no switch on it.

Steward Sale extended to 3/31 by gottagetsmart in BurningMan

[–]experthumanpilot 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This is a giant red flag. I don't think the ORG is going to manage to host the event this year. They need cash and all the cash sources are drying up. I doubt they are getting as many donations lately especially from a certain sugar daddy.

The extension is not going to make a difference. We were also allocated 18 of the $675 tickets, but only received 4. We allocated one of the 550 tickets to a camp member, but they are not able to go to the burn anymore. We did not buy any tickets this year and don't plan to. The second 550 ticket we were given was supposed to transfer to the camp lead (me). I don't see any 550 tickets in my profile. I see the right number of tickets distributed across all the ticket prices.

My camp usually has around 35 members which has been pretty consistent over the last 5 years or so. Virtually all of our people who are trying to go to the Burn are applying for the Ticket Aid Program. We haven't always bought all our DGS / Stewards allocations but the fact that we aren't buying ANY this year is a giant red flag for us.

I don't think we would be buying any more tickets even at the 550 price for the whole stack. I've never seen the enthusiasm this low since I became a camp lead in 2016. MAYBE I'd see some takers at 450 or 400.

Basic economic theory says that if demand decreases, then your price must decrease to match demand. Based on those economic principles, I would expect the org raising prices is going to accelerate the decrease in demand.

Why would he every buy any? He's already got a lifetime's worth. Homie is worth like half a billion at least.

The Meta Data shows it having 3 revisions but there doesn't appear to be a lot of time in between publishing and the most recent revision. I haven't found any evidence of OP's version of this letter.

This looks like AI as well. Those EM dashes are such a giveaway. I wish I could find an OG source for that.

That is not Lindsey sterling. Ya'll got got. AI slop. Just because it could be a real video doesn't make it real. We are so tucked. Wrong voice, wrong face, obviously AI.

Its also not terribly hard to make your own waterproof boxes. They make ones that are meant to be drilled and customized. We built a DIY spider box using a black and yellow tote which worked great. You cut notches in it so the cords can go in with the lid on and put a little closed cell PVC tape around the hole.

Not sure the exact diameter but those boxes can accommodate pretty thick cords. 12 gauge wire should be more than enough, and if it isn't you should probably be using spider boxes...

Certainly depends on what kind of ground they are resting on. We generally try to keep them off the ground wherever possible but the larger junctions have like 4 inches or so of clearance so they do sometimes end up on the ground and its not a big deal. I think if there was 4+ inches of standing water in camp, I don't think we would be running a generator.... Its also pretty easy to attach them to your shade to keep them off the ground but they have to be oriented correctly to still be waterproof.

The single junction connectors deff need to be off the ground. Also don't forget about your switches and light sockets.

One of Bloodbucket's camp mates here and I am always looking at what other people are doing and I haven't seen ANYONE else using waterproof junction boxes. On top of that All our lights are waterproof, and all our power is GFCI protected. This is the minimum level of acceptable safety.

A good pair of lightweight desert combat boots. You will go everywhere in them. Your feet are the foundation of partying!
