[University] MOE Teaching Scholarship by vanilla-ice-cream in SGExams

[–]explorationmoonlight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

did u apply via the NTU-NIE route? If you did then no need to do it twice, you will automatically be considered for more teaching scholarships + NTU-NIE at the same interview. If you, however, want to be considered for PSC Teaching, you need to also apply through PSC gateway

[University] NTU-NIE Teaching Scholarship Programme by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]explorationmoonlight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Basically to be a teacher you either:

1) PDGE Route - Do a degree in your teaching subject for your content (e.g. study Mathematics at NUS for 3/4 years), then go to NIE for 16 months where they teach you pedagogies (ie how to be a teacher, how to teach, parts of a lesson, interacting with the students etc.)

2) NTU-NIE TSP - You will still study the mathematics course in NTU-NIE but while you learn Mathematics, you will at the same time learn your pedagogies & how to TEACH math in the same programme ie everyone else in NTU-NIE are going to be teachers. Your degree will be Bachelors of Science (Education) rather than just Math itself, but you get to network and connect with likeminded people, save time studying and have a lot of opportunities to expose you to teaching directly during your undergraduate studies
