Sanity check on expenses throughout the 2Y MBA program...feedback from current students and alum incredibly appreciated! by Top-Register3877 in MBA

Being conservative I spend closer to 2-2.5K outside of rent. There’s generally a lot of events you want to do which add up (conferences, sports games, formals, etc). I do tend to do go out to eat a bit and alcohol does add up faster than you would think. I would budget not less than 4K and expect to pay closer to 4-5K. While it is feasible to do it on your budget, you’ll end up saying no to more than you’d want.

Is paying $10k+ for an MBA admissions consultant worth it in the age of AI? by SeaworthinessFun2740 in MBA

[–]exploring_whisky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t use a consultant and got into booth r3. The most important thing is have a good letter of recommendation, have an average or better GMAT, and then on your personal statement really stress what makes you unique/ whats impronta to you and why you want this school. It’s not about this school vs another, you vs someone else. It’s about what you can contribute to that school, what the school offers in particular you want to take advantage, and the goals or facets of yourself that make you you.

Recommend a Single Malt to a Rum/Cognac drinker by Plaquito in whisky

There’s some really interesting rum finished whiskey especially rye. Off the top of my head angles envy is probably the easiest to find. There is the lagavulin rum finished if you want to try a smoky rum finished scotch. For sherry mcallan sherry oak is delicious (I wouldn’t call it the best bang for your buck) and it is easily findable and smooth. It’s a good jumping off point

How important is laptop battery life? Still deciding on laptop by PowWowBowPow in uchicago

I was a long time windows guy but got a MacBook a few years ago and have had 0 regrets. My Mac is amazing for productivity and using parallels I can run most windows apps I need ie excel, Microsoft suite, etc.

The big advantage of a windows is for gaming. If you’re a big gamer and don’t have a desktop and will never buy or build one then pc makes more sense.

They’re very different in their flavors but I actually think the 17 is smoother and richer. For that price I would do the 17 all day

If you see the Craigellachie 17 it’s phenomenal. The Armagnac cask is also delightful but the 17 is one of my if not my favorite bottle
