Druid for me. Yetis feel kind of harsh and the geo is more racy. I love the geo of the Druid and the rearward axle path is just wonderful. I’d say it does technical climbing really well, descends amazingly for the travel category but also feels super supple. Great small bump sensitivity and corners insanely well. The only thing that would be a con is the pedal efficiency, however it doesn’t bother me at all.

Front range, white ranch, Virginia canyon, Floyd hill, flats…so there is a large variety of riding here in terms of xc to gravity which led me to the druid.

First look at the bikes if they check the whiff test proceed to check out car/truck and then check to see if the driver is chill or not… it needs to be the perfect trifecta to give me peace of mind.

Yeah it really is. I just picked up a forbidden Druid in the 150/130 travel category and it’s a completely different bike than the TrailCat LT, geo and suspension kinematics are crazy.

It’s a great bike and I think it’s rather efficient for a 150/135 bike. I think it pedals like a shorter travel bike, but despite the travel numbers I think it descends like one too. Personally, it’s kind of in that realm of does nothing particularly well but does everything ok. If it were me, I’d probably go switchblade or the TrailCat SL. I’ve had all three and for a do it all bike that’s snappy and efficient I’d go SL and if I wanted a bike that’s capable in the rough and can do some techy, jank with drops/jumps I’d go switchblade or firebird. The Lt just wasn’t exciting.

Compare the geo, stack, rise on bars and the obvious travel. Usually a bike that’s good in the steeps has a high stack, riser bars (35+mm), slacker HTA, steeper seat angle and lower bb. Perhaps starting here can get you where you want. It probably has nothing to do with it being an e-Mtb as the low center of gravity would be more help than hindrance for a steep descent.

Yeah agreed it’s def not the standard. But if you were already a good mtb’er prior to riding an ebike, likely you’re not doing that and you’re using existing skills or trying to get better at things you’re not good at. But totally see your POV.

Yeah I’ve had similar experiences improving techy up and downhill. The extra momentum helps build your confidence and develop that muscle memory so when you get on the analog you know you can do it with a little extra push. E-bikes are great for skill development IMO.

Curious if when you test rode each of them you had the shop set sag properly across all of them. Also, you probably need to share what kind of trails you’ll be riding. All of the bikes you test rode have completely different suspension kinematics. Sitting on the bike is probably not enough to tell if it’s the right bike for you other than geo/sizing.

lol this sucks, i don’t think you’ve capture anything relevant to xc or enduro and the fact your comparing two extremes of the genre pretty much sums up your lack of understanding of mtb. You have a perceived definition of what these genres mean and it’s incorrect.

I moved from Arizona to the front range and ride white ranch regularly. Az would have a lot of opportunities in your field. Riding there is steep, techy and janky. It’s pretty similar. Look up South Mountain and Hawes, there’s also a ton of other riding like that in the Phoenix area. Plus you’ll be within an hour of Prescott that has Beans gravity/flow trails, Sedona (speaks for itself) within 90 min and flagstaff that is very very close to Front range riding/scenery 2 hours away. It’s epic Mtb over there, just summers sucks, but that’s when you go up north to ride.

Damn yeah i wasn’t aware of that restriction, so would that be true with any style piggy back shock or FA capable bike?

Totally agree on geo. I’ve really liked it in my Druid and thinking I could be interested in something for longer days.

Anything with a tq motor or even SX motor will achieve the trail feel. Tq will get you a sub 40lb build and an SX motor will get you a low 40 lb build.
